If you require a replacement lock for your apartment's or condo's USPS mailbox, this one will work. The home improvement stores won't even have this specific replacement lock, so don't bother going there. Why? Who knows, but if you need to swap out your USPS lock, this one ought to work. Just be sure to double-check the serial numbers of your lock and the lock box itself.

At a fourplex that I own, I erected this mailbox. I manage two more fourplexes with two identical ones from the same provider. Making keys for their locks and changing out the locks have been my only problems. It might be preferable to get the locks changed by a locksmith. I visited three different hardware stores, but none of them had a key-making machine. A locksmith frequently made the wrong key in my experience. I've finally located a nearby locksmith who can handle it.Both the installation and the use by the renters were simple. If you were wondering, USPS will install the master lock free of charge for you. It was finished for me.

All of our neighbors enjoy it, and so does our mailman. We have it installed. It was simple to install by screwing it in and following the directions for the cement base. The biggest challenge was getting the postal service to quickly install the arrow lock. The only flaw was that, unlike what was advertised, it didn't come with a base, but after speaking with Salsbury and Amazon customer service, we were able to get one shipped to us absolutely free of charge. According to Salsbury, they send the box—but not the base—to Amazon. Amazon must either modify their description or reach a settlement with Salsbury to include the base, I suppose.

Although I enjoy the device for my purposes, the postal worker who came to install their lock informed us that this item hasn't been approved for postal installation since 1999. And even though we got the local postmaster's stamp of approval, we still had to wrangle with him to get him to install the post office lock. They haven't returned to take off their lock yet, but we keep an eye on them every day as the postal installer said they would.

This mailbox is excellent! USPS endorsed! Before I had this mailbox, my mail had been stolen numerous times. After making this purchase, all of my mail is secure. Additionally, USPS submitted a work order to install the master USPS lock. Although the installation was terrible, this product is fantastic. Overall, this product is excellent. extremely recommended!

A word of warning: not only is this device intended for replacement, it also needs to be installed exactly where the old mailbox was. We purchased these mailboxes, which are identical to the ones we already had, and put them in our lobby area because the ones in our condo were outside and had been largely vandalised. Because we altered the location, USPS wouldn't install their locks when they came out, so we had to send them back. Large hassle!
Mail carriers do not carry keys to mailboxes. Mailboxes are opened by a key or a combination that the customer provides. The carrier then places mail in the box and locks it with the customer's key.
The answer to this question depends on the type of mailbox you have. If you have a curbside mailbox, the mailman will pick up your outgoing mail. If you have a mailbox attached to your house, you will need to take your outgoing mail to the post office.
Packages are delivered to cluster mailboxes by the USPS. The USPS will leave the package in the mailbox assigned to the address on the package.

If you live in an apartment complex or other type of shared living arrangement, chances are you have a cluster mailbox. But how can you be sure who actually owns your cluster mailbox, and what does that mean for you? The first step is to check with your local post office. They should be able to give you information about who owns the mailbox and who is responsible for its upkeep. If you have any questions or concerns, you can also contact your building manager or homeowner's association. Once you know who owns the mailbox, it's important to understand your rights and responsibilities
