When you do that, the heat is now being blown in a different direction. As a result, if you want it to blow to the right, you may need to spin it in that way three or four times while opening and closing the vent. Otherwise, the air will be blowing in the wrong direction. It would be convenient if the air flow could continue in the direction you intended while opening the vent.
