When the time came to replace my own oils in my 5-speed Tacoma, I knew I had to give the Redline MT-90 a shot because I'd heard such great reports about it on message boards.I once took my truck in for an expensive "4 case change" that involved changing the oils in the transfer case, manual transmission, and both the front and rear differentials. The GL-4 oil for the transmission and transfer case is not readily available, probably because the majority of people now drive automatics, and it must simply not sell well enough for the stores to be profitable. However, the GL-5 oil for the differentials is readily available at the neighborhood auto parts stores. The syncros in the transmission are destroyed by sulfur-based compounds in the GL-5 oil, causing the transmission to shift improperly.When I would change from fifth to fourth on the freeway, my transmission would occasionally make a tiny grinding noise. Additionally, until I was moving at less than 5 mph, it was difficult to shift into first. The transmission shifts much more smoothly now that I've had Red Line oil in the transmission and transfer case for approximately a month. I can now shift into first gear at a speed of 13 to 15 mph because the recurring grind has disappeared. With almost 234k miles on it, the transmission is almost like new!

It finally started to trickle. I chose to change the rear axle fluid mostly in order to try sealing the diff cover properly for the first time.I used Mobil1 75-140 LS gear oil this time. That is completely synthetic and is intended to have additives for limited slide. terrible chattered A bottle of KW Limited Slip Additive was then added. Chattered almost as badly as before. And after that, I put a bottle of this Motorcraft substance. again immediately chatter-free!Yes, it stinks awfully bad. The smell of the garage persisted even after I used brake cleaner to clean my oil collect container and allowed it to dry outside for an hour. Use gloves and exercise caution to reduce drips and residue.However, it also DOES! It has been the only thing that has worked for me.Note: Permatex "Gear Oil Formulated" RTV is suggested for sealing the diff cover. It performs consistently well, has a good gray color, and is not easily broken down by friction modifiers. The exterior of the rear axle is finally completely dry.

After a refurbishment, the manual transmission in my 1999 XJ (Aisin AX15) was quite noisy. I mainly become accustomed to it. However, I later learned that this item was essentially magic and worth the extra money. Without concrete evidence, there was no way I was going to get into that type of hysteria. I figured what the heck though because I had a credit on Amazon and needed a fluid change anyhow. WOW. I now buy into the hype. I should have completed this right away following the rebuild. It was immediately quieted, and now the shift is silky smooth as opposed to jerky. I still don't think it's true. Now I'm exploring for alternative applications for it. In reality, I used my vintage handheld squeeze pump oiler to put what was still in the bottle. With it, I lubricate everything.I can't guarantee that this will make everything better for you, and I have heard from some people who weren't too impressed, especially considering the hefty price tag. However, I think this is fantastic material. I have no idea what kind of pixie dust they added, but even at a cost that is more than twice that of the leading gear oil, in my opinion, it is still well worth the money. I won't ever switch to anything else.

Use this on the rear differential of a 2005 Trailblazer. The differential housing and cap's mating surfaces had begun to corrode to the point where a normal gasket would not function properly due to severe pitting in some areas. I regret not taking a photo. Additionally, the $30 gasket is required for this rear differential rather than the $6 one, and I wasn't going to spend that much money with Amsoil for it to leak. So I bought it and followed the instructions. Please be aware that it cures significantly more slowly than other RTV sealants. I initially squeezed the cap into place, let it sit for a half-hour or so, and then torqued it to specification. 600 kilometers and 4 weeks later, everything is completely dry. The fact that this product was able to fill and seal the surfaces despite the extensive rust pitting was really impressive. Excellent product that is significantly less expensive than some gaskets.
