There is no definitive answer to this question as opinions will vary from person to person. Some people believe that training collars are a perfectly acceptable way to train a dog, while others may feel that they are cruel and unnecessary. Ultimately, it is up to the individual dog owner to decide whether or not they believe training collars are right for their pet.
Yes, police dogs may use e-collars as part of their training. E-collars are a type of collar that uses electrical stimulation to help train dogs. This type of collar can help dogs learn commands and behaviors more quickly than traditional training methods.
There is no definitive answer to this question as opinions on the use of shock collars vary greatly among veterinarians. Some vets believe that shock collars can be an effective training tool when used correctly, while others believe that they are cruel and can cause long-term behavioral problems. Ultimately, the decision of whether or not to use a shock collar should be made on a case-by-case basis in consultation with a qualified veterinarian or animal behaviorist.
Vibration collars are a type of dog collar that emits a short, sharp vibration when the owner presses a button on a remote control. The vibration is used as a cue to the dog that he is doing something wrong, and is usually accompanied by a verbal command from the owner. Vibration collars are not a replacement for positive reinforcement training, but can be a useful tool in teaching your dog basic obedience commands. The key is to use the collar correctly and consistently, so that your dog associates the vibration with the desired behavior. If you're considering using

Okay, so I bought this expressly for my elderly dog. Despite being a smaller breed and being quite well mannered, she barks like a little heathen at the slightest noise. My six-month-old puppy isn't much of a barker, but the older dog's constant barking was driving me crazy and teaching the smaller one some negative habits.I swear, I could have stopped our older dog's yapping and barking years ago if I had purchased a corrective training collar like this when she was smaller. She has made significant progress in the barking department in the week that we have owned and utilized this collar! How wonderfully this has worked is beyond belief. She typically barked incessantly for hours during the past few evenings of fireworks this week building up to the Fourth of July, but she has been SO nice with just a barely audible low growl that would usually turn into a full on bark.I've only ever needed to utilize the beep and vibrate feature, and it was perfect for her. The silicone covers for the tiny metal nubs are also something I truly enjoy because they give me more assurance that my dog won't feel them harshly when she needs a correction. Oh, and in the event that she need correction but I didn't have the controller on hand, a television remote worked just as well; all I had to do was pick it up and demonstrate it to her. She even calms down when I pick up my phone and show it to her in the past.It is a fantastic product that is attractively packaged and a useful tool for helping you train and discipline your dog. In order to avoid terror or gravely hurting your pet, I do believe that it must be used responsibly as a teaching/correcting tool and not as a punishment tool.

For a week, I used an automatic bark collar, but I wasn't thrilled with it because it would sound while the dog was simply playing or scratching. I choose to give this remote collar a try after finding it.The four screws that hold the receiver sections together and shield the electronic components from water and dust were absent from the first collar I received. Fortunately, I became aware of it as I was fastening the receiver to the collar. I asked for a replacement, and it was quickly provided and delivered. Both the receiver and the remote charge quickly. The dual charging cord that charges both items simultaneously is one of my favorites. If you have a smaller dog, the receiver is a little on the hefty side. A 12-pound Havanese is my puppy. He has an issue with barking. So far, I've only utilized the buzzer feature, and he responds right away. I don't intend to use the shock feature (My dog has a lot of hair and I am not shaving him for the probs can make skin contact). I tried the shock function on my own, but I wasn't able to feel anything until I reached about level 30. The shock would likely only startle the dog; it wouldn't be "cruel or hurtful," in my opinion. It's nice to be able to control when the bark collar is turned on using the remote control. The prior collar would activate when the dog played or scratched, undermining the effectiveness of beep training. I can give the dog the verbal command using the remote collar, and if they don't listen, I can use the remote to "beep" the collar. I'll reiterate the "No Bark" order after the beep. This has been really successful thus far. My dog already recognizes the collar, and when wearing it, he barks less. Every time we leave the dog alone, including at night, the collar is taken off.I do not advise letting your dog wear the collar unattended.Overall, I am pleased with the outcome.

I recently adopted my 2-year-old pit mix, named Nala, from a shelter. She is a bothersome barker and is scared of humans, strollers, skateboards, and pretty much anything loud with wheels. She would violently bark at passersby and kids every time I took her to a park. One of the guys really demanded that I leave or he would beat Nala, which is when it reached its peak. She's too anxious to be on a leash now, so I've regrettably stopped taking her to parks or even for walks since that happened. The only time she gets to go outside is on the weekends when I take her to the dog beach. However, she would constantly and predictably growl at everyone (including little children) and enormous inflatable floaties. Weekend trips to the beach had to cease there, but I made the decision to keep her in the backyard during the day so she could get some fresh air. This was successful for a while, but then my neighbor who had recently moved in installed their trampoline right next to my fence. Nala would go crazy whenever their kids would bounce and throw balls around since they use it frequently. She has never bit anyone, but her constant barking has made me and my entire family anxious. It reached to the point where I wanted to give her back to the shelter since we had no idea how to remedy this.I chose to test this E-Collar after doing a lot of research, and WOW! It's incredible! One button press caused her to magically cease barking. She may now return to the parks and beaches and enjoy spending time with people and other dogs!Nala would have likely returned to the shelter had it not been for this E-collar. I'm therefore really grateful that I tried out this collar! It's a life saver, and I would most definitely suggest this collar!Furthermore, it is waterproof!

Before getting this collar, my dog was incredibly unruly. He ignored all of our commands, resisted our attempts to train him off-leash, and frequently started fights with other dogs at the park. I was quite apprehensive to purchase a training collar after hearing a recommendation at the dog park. All I could think about was injuring my dog and the term "shock collar." Hank required some time to learn to obey and adapt to the collar's restrictions once it was first worn. After a few months, HE FINALLY STARTED DOING AS I ASKED! He always stops what he's doing the moment he hears the beeping setting and comes over to us, so we barely ever need to use the actual "shock" button. After training with the collar for several months, we don't even really need to have it on him because he now obediently follows our instructions. The battery lasts so long, the collar isn't too big, and the remote is quite simple to use. We use it every day and have only really needed to charge both of them once per month. I would only suggest adding a loop to the collar so I can attach his tags to it. Since there is no loop or link for his tags, I have to put on him two collars: the training collar and the collar with his tags. Wonderful item, and I'm so glad we bought it!

The collar was great because it was simple to set up and use right away. When we called her to "come," our 7-month-old Golden was a stubborn infant. She would give you a glance before turning away. To catch her attention, I first tried the collar with sounds. She was drawn to it, but she was unable to understand what it meant. I then utilized the low vibration setting. She responded as soon as she realized it was connected to the command for "come" I was giving her (I vibrated my phone two to three times while calling her). She understands it, and it's like day and night. Though I haven't had to utilize the shock feature, I know it would only be applied in the most extreme circumstances. Coyotes and bobcats frequent the wooded region where we live. Running free is not advised, and disobeying directions to come when called can be harmful for our dogs.I formerly used training collars from an earlier vintage on our pointers. Although large and without a sound option, these were nevertheless useful. Large and weighty batteries were used. This innovative device is portable, light, and simple to use. I would only propose adding instructions on how to fasten the collar to the receiver. There are 2 alternative collars included, but no instructions. Even if it is clear from some of the images, a few sentences would be great. A lanyard for the remote would also be a smart move. However, I'm certain I can find one in the house.Older collars no longer have access to the entire range of vibration and shock that these new collars do. A great replacement or initial purchase is the TBI IP67. I suppose we will buy the old lady one of these now that I have this one for the dog so we can couple on the same remote. I'm looking forward to leading them on a group stroll while ensuring their safety.

You simply cannot get a better training collar at this pricing. The variety of alternatives this collar offers is by far its strongest point. It will beep, vibrate, or give a shock, as stated in the description. Which is fantastic if you don't want to use the shock right away. It's also fantastic since you can beep or vibrate as a warning before shocking your pet. Eventually, they'll hear, feel, and stop what they're doing before you even have to shock them. The remote is my favorite. It isn't very big, has a slight rubbery feel to it so it isn't too slippery, and all the buttons have labels so there won't be any accidental startling. I love that they included plastic tabs to cover the collar's prongs so they wouldn't irritate my furry child's neck. Additionally, I liked that the collar was reflective so that I could readily see and locate my furry friend when he was in the backyard at night. And this collar has shock levels ranging from 1 to 100! Unbelievable. with an integrated safety feature if you exceed 50. With this collar, you can't go wrong. My favorite. I can only think of one drawback, if I were to list any. I wish the remote's buttons had backlighting so I could see them at night. The buttons lack backlighting, but the display does. In case you were wondering, the battery life is also not too bad. Depending on use, the collar may require charging more frequently than the remote; the remote appears to last for a reasonable amount of time.

For my incessantly barking yet adored mutt, we purchased this device. She constantly barks. She barks if I stand up. She barks whenever I leave the room and return. She barks whenever a child ascends or descends the stairs. And who cares whether someone approaches the door, the numerous animals in the yard, or anyone crossing the street. What's worse is that we have to kennel her if someone enters our home. In the kennel, she will bark nonstop for hours. Literally. Hours. The training for the collar has just begun. She weighs 20 pounds, so we're trying to keep to the beeper and buzzer. Because she is little, the zap merely seems cruel. To be fair, we're not very successful, but we're also not very consistent. I believe it will be more successful when we have more time and simply practice consistency. It has been working for the past 10 days or so that we have had it.

I have used this collar to train nearly 4,000 (yes, 4,000) dogs (and the small size as well). It is the best tool there is for calming down hyperactive dogs when applied correctly. Unfortunately, very few people, including the majority of dog trainers, are aware of how to use it. Never once has it injured or hurt a dog. When applying full pressure, it should fit loosely but not so loosely that the two plastic parts on the rope meet. Lift and maintain pressure such that the front's weight is applied to quiet a hyperactive dog. The dog should elevate a little bit of its front paws off the ground. It's likely that the dog will act up a little. No one is choked by the collar! Dog is able to breathe. The dog will sit after 10 to 60 seconds. (Don't tell him to sit; just maintain pressure until he gets up on his own.) Pet the dog after entirely releasing the pressure. The dog will then stand up, so keep applying pressure until he settles down once more. Next, let go of the pressure and pet. 5 times through this procedure. The dog will typically remain sitting and be five times calmer by time four than he was five minutes before. You can now begin training based on commands. For 2 to 8 weeks, the dog should go around the house while wearing the collar and a short leash. Apply quiet, gentle pressure when he refuses to listen until he does. DO NOT USE ON Chows, Doberman Pinchers, or any other handler-aggressive dogs without professional support and the necessary safety precautions. But that's okay as long as your dog won't bite it. On dogs younger than 16 weeks old, avoid using it without professional assistance. Their thinking is too jittery. Works best on all doodle and terrier breeds, particularly biting lab puppies. Doesn't work as well on dogs like Rotweillers and Bulldogs who have substantial neck pads. Although you can try. (At this point, there will be about 20 "trainers" who will correct me.) With this collar, I've trained about 4,000 dogs. Use this collar to get control if you need to restrain the dog or get rid of it. largely reduces barking, play biting, and hyperactivity. It functions through Carotid Massage (Carotid Nerve, not Artery). If you ask one thousand dog trainers what that is, they will all look at you funny. Any physician or emergency medical technician will tell you that carotid massage stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system and releases chemicals that act as an antidote to adrenaline.

This has been fantastic! This one was actually bought for a friend who was so moved by our puppies' development that they wanted one for their dog as well. With just a few days of training with this collar, our dog is already allowed to go outside unsupervised. She is aware to remain in the yard even when we don't really need to use it anymore. I adore that it includes a feature for beeping and vibrating. The beep and vibration were sufficient to teach her the boundaries of our yard; we never had to physically shock her. After only a week of use, our friend, who has also started using it, has already started to observe improvement. These trainers have all of our hearts. Absolutely essential for any dog owner!**Updated to add: I forgot to mention this previously, but we utilized the collar we already had for our pup because we didn't like the collar that came with the pet trainer, and it works fine. The actual trainer may be put on your collar by simply slipping it off the black one. (I just though someone would find that useful.)A little note: I strive to be as detailed and honest as I can when providing customer evaluations because I know others do the same thing when they are trying to buy anything. I gave my review a lot of thought, and I value your comments, [...] Please feel free to contact me with any queries you may have after reading this.
The first step is to get a good quality leash and collar that fit your dog well. Next, you need to teach your dog to walk calmly by your side. This can be done by using treats or toys as rewards for good behavior. Finally, you need to be consistent with your commands and rewards, and never give in to your dog's pulling.
Yes, a shock collar is animal abuse. Shock collars are used to train dogs through the use of electrical shocks. This type of training is inhumane and can cause long-term physical and psychological damage to dogs. Shock collars have been banned in several countries because of the cruelty they inflict on animals.
There is no definitive answer to this question as different dogs may respond better to different types of training collars or harnesses. Some dog owners find that using a collar is more effective in training their dog, while others find that a harness is more successful. Ultimately, it is up to the dog owner to experiment with different types of collars and harnesses to see which works better for their dog.
Sit Means Sit is not a cruel method of training dogs. It is a positive reinforcement based training system that uses aversives sparingly and only as a last resort. Aversives are anything that causes discomfort or displeasure to the dog, such as electric shocks, prong collars, or verbal reprimands. The Sit Means Sit system relies heavily on positive reinforcement, such as treats, praise, and petting, to shape desired behaviors in dogs. This method of training has been proven to be effective in reducing problem behaviors in dogs and teaching them new tricks and obedience commands.
There is no right or wrong answer to this question, as it ultimately comes down to personal preference. Some dog owners feel that their pet should always wear a collar as it can help with identification if they were to ever get lost. Others believe that a dog only needs to wear a collar when they are going outside or on walks, as it can be uncomfortable for them to wear one all the time. Ultimately, it is up to the dog owner to decide what is best for their pet.
