RELEASED ON MAY 22, 2018I appreciate the firm sending me a replacement very much. The block is hanging in a tree, and while I watch on my trail camera, the deer seem unsure of what to do with it. Even after more than two weeks, they are still wary of it. I therefore laid it down for their enjoyment.Don't waste your money; the rope only lasted one night outside. The rope was able to fall through a fracture in the salt block. You're better off ordering a livestock salt block from your neighborhood feed store or Cabellas. They will just set you back $5 and last for a full year. They are incredibly heavy to carry, and my back isn't as strong as it once was. I intended to try this salt block instead because of this, but I had to learn the hard way.Amazon now wants me to package it up and send it back via UPS truck; not very economically conscious.

Since my horses can't lick the hard square salt blocks sufficiently to make a dent in them, even after years of the blocks being in their living room, I no longer use them. Since switching to Himalayan rock salt a few years ago, I've been astounded by how quickly the horses consume it.

I bought two of these, but at first I couldn't really tell if the deer were utilizing it or not. They are quite substantial and durable. I've noticed the deer licking on it and can see how worn down it is after being out back for about a month. AWWW. I appreciate watching my pets enjoy their goodies while also knowing that they are receiving healthy minerals to keep them warm during the winter. This summer, some of my deer appeared to be quite underweight. I bought it to supplement the plentiful maize, apples, and acorns I was giving them by providing some much-needed minerals. We must keep in mind that humans and building are driving deer out of their natural environment. I'm sorry about them. Many of them were paper thin, which alarmed me because I wasn't sure how they would make it through the winter. Since they are all natural and provide the deer with what they require, I feel good about leaving them out.

Instead of buying one of the standard salt wheels, I bought one of these for my daughter's rabbit. I investigated pricing before making a purchase and discovered that this 4.4 pound (70.4 ounces) block was only $8.50 whereas the typical salt wheels were around $5 for 4 ounces (or $1.25 per ounce) (approximately 12 cents per ounce). At less than a tenth of the cost, this is unquestionably the more affordable option!Instead of being a pressed cake, I prefer that it is a solid chunk. The block we were given is cylindrical and is 4 1/4 inches long by 4" wide. All is good once we tied it up in a corner of his cage. If and when we need another, I would buy one.UPDATE: Three years ago, I purchased two of these for two bunnies that are kept in separate homes. The bunnies are still on their original blocks even though both salt licks are definitely smaller (the rope lasted less than a year but was easy to replace). By the end of the summer, the larger rabbit will likely require a new salt block, while the smaller rabbit still has half the block in reserve. A year and a half ago, I bought a third one for my son's bun-bun, and she appears to prefer these to her previous salt spool as well. They are unquestionably durable and cost-effective.

Horses need a mineral block and a salt block to stay healthy. A mineral block provides horses with essential minerals like calcium and phosphorus, while a salt block provides sodium and chloride. These two minerals are important for a horse's metabolism, nerve function, and muscle function.
Salt blocks are a common supplement given to horses, especially in the winter. The idea is that salt helps horses stay hydrated and provides essential minerals. However, there is no scientific evidence that horses need salt blocks in winter. In fact, salt can be harmful to horses if they consume too much. If you choose to give your horse salt blocks, make sure to monitor their intake and consult with a veterinarian.
One way to tell if your horse needs a salt block is if he is sweating more than normal or if his electrolyte levels are low. A salt block will help replenish electrolytes and keep your horse hydrated.
In the wild, horses get salt from natural sources like salt licks or salt flats. They also get salt from the plants they eat and from the water they drink.
A salt lick is an essential item for any horse owner. But how long do they actually last? On average, a salt lick will last a horse around 2-3 weeks. However, this will vary depending on the size of the lick and how often your horse uses it. If your horse is a heavy salt user, then you may need to replace the lick more frequently. It's important to monitor your horse's salt intake and make sure they always have access to fresh water. Too much salt can be harmful to horses, so it's best to err on the
A horse needs about a tablespoon of salt per day, although this may vary depending on the horse's diet and level of activity. Too much salt can be detrimental to a horse's health, so it is important to consult with a veterinarian before making any changes to a horse's diet.
