Got this for our Maine Coon because I needed something that would loosen up any mats or debris (wide tooth) and then detangle the rest (fine tooth) without cutting and ripping out his glorious undercoat like a furminator type of brush does. Originally I purchased a smaller cat comb of similar design but our "kitten" quickly went from 4lbs to nearly 11lbs in about 3 months. So I needed something larger. This comb has been perfect.Once a week I do a quick pass through with the wide tooth side to loosen the big tangles and pull out debris (his coat is velcro I swear) then a more careful brushing with the fine tooth side to fully remove any tangles and he poof he is good to go.Please note: this is not a flea comb, do not purchase it for that. Also, as someone that has been there and done that, trying to brush a long haired cat or a cat with a thick coat with a flea comb is not only ineffective but usually painful to the cat because the comb gets "stuck" too easy due to the super close teeth. So, if you have fleas, I'd really recommend attacking the source of infestation rather than trying to hunt the little buggers down one at a time off your cat. Just my two cents...

I spent a LOT of money on a "buttercomb," which I kept losing (with aid from the rest of the family). I tried a less expensive product after becoming frustrated that I couldn't find the comb when I had the time and the dog was eager to be groomed. I reasoned that the more I had lying around the home, the more likely I would be to find one when I needed it. (This comb costs three times as much as those made by Chris Christensen.)I've discovered that I like this Andis comb to the more expensive one. Although it may be 2 inches or so smaller and have a squared-off back rather than a round one, who cares? Because my medium-sized poodle is not 10 inches broad, I have plenty of room in my palm to grasp the comb and operate it. And his coat is easily penetrated by the teeth.My two-year-old puppy, Roger Pippin, stands 15 inches tall, weighs around 28 pounds, and has a very curly, mat-prone coat. The latter is very problematic because he frequently runs through the woods with the kids and Charlene, his adoptive JRT mix sister, and may become a mess due to the burs, thorns, and water features.When neither comb is sufficient, scissors are required; yet, in every instance, the Andis comb appears to function just as well as the very expensive comb. I purchased it for our long-haired cat. She develops knots near her hindquarters and in her mane. Both our long-haired and short-haired cats enjoy it at the vet, and I'm sure they will enjoy it at home. One will be purchased for our daughter's kitty. The handle's rough ends are the only problem, which I will smooth off with an emory board or wet sandpaper.

This comb is incredible. complete halt My Golden Retriever has extremely thick, almost coarse, puffy hair. I've used a slicker brush and a furminator brush, and I always believed that these were the very finest options. He would be covered in hair when I brushed him, but he would still have some parts that were quite puffy, and it would take me going over those areas about 100 times to see any improvement. This Hertzko brush was highly suggested to me by my sister-in-law since she had used it on her Bernese Mountain dogs and loved it. I'll be honest here: I believed "Whatever. I'll try it, but the hair on my dog is just different. Really, nothing "works."" The timing of the package game and how my Golden was trying to shed his winter coat made it interesting. He had a giant puffy undercoat that was ready to be combed out, but nothing really worked to get it out. With the first few strokes of this brush, I could tell there was a slight difference (in a good way). My dog looked like he had just been GROOMED after 10 minutes of brushing, and I called my husband in shock. This is without a doubt the best dog brush I've ever used. My dog has changed in appearance and temperament, and the puffy undercoat was removed without giving him any distress. I had my doubts, but I was mistaken. My other two "brushes" were thrown away. My cat is a middle-aged male American shorthair that weighs around 10 pounds and is neither underweight nor obese.Our favorite brush is without a doubt this one (I have maybe 4 different ones). It has a small head and is a compact brush. The bristles of the brush are covered in tiny plastic beads so that when the cat rubs his face against it, he won't get a nasty poke.I appreciate how this brush feels in my hands; I can either hold the handle to brush him or hold the brush's top in my hand to do so. I can easily switch between the two options, rest my hand, and brush with various pressures thanks to the two possibilities.The bristle caps on this brush have not yet come off after being in my possession for a number of months; it appears to be extremely well manufactured.One downward sweep with my fingertips removes almost all of the cat hair from the brush, which is also quite simple to clean.This is a great choice if you're seeking for a single brush that can do it all. I especially enjoy the purple hues—purple even extends to the plastic tine caps!To keep one of these in various locations throughout the apartment, I'm considering purchasing another one.The bristles are rather stiff, and I concur with previous assessments on this point. This brush might not be ideal for you and your cat if it is particularly thin or delicate.

a top-notch pet comb. The timings are quite robust and well spaced. The backbone and times are both rounded and highly polished. They behave and feel like steel that has been nickel- or chrome-plated. I wasn't prepared for as much.My 10-pound "Yorkie-Poo" (a mix between a Yorkie and a Poodle) has a thick, curly coat. Every 4-5 weeks, it needs to be professionally groomed. I use this comb to keep the tangles out in between brushing sessions. More easily and without aggravation than any other comb I've ever used, it smooths his coat. I believe the cause is the rounded and incredibly smooth timings. My Rusty is now much more cooperative and comes easily to his combings than he was with any other dry grooming equipment I had previously used. I've tried a lot because I've had poodles for the majority of the last 40 years.Even my head and my highly curly goatee beard are treated with it. Compared to previous methods I've used on myself, it works quicker and more effectively.I wholeheartedly endorse this gadget because it will last a lifetime or more.

This comb is fantastic! I have a wolf shepard mix with really long hair. He has an undercoat made for the north and a topcoat that is at least 6 inches long. Never before have I seen a comb groom his fur so effectively! This is not your typical comb; instead, the teeth function more like blunt-tip blades that sever all knots from the hair. You can comb at the proper angle thanks to the thumb rest. I found that in order to remove particularly matted places, I needed to use more of a picking motion, tucking the comb into the fur and drawing it out with a simple flick of the wrist. As opposed to other combs and brushes, it doesn't need to be pulled and yanked. The large teeth easily remove undercoat by penetrating it from all sides. With a conventional 1" straight comb, I have spent hours brushing him, but I have never removed as much hair as with this Poodle comb in half the time. With our initial usage of this comb, I will undoubtedly have a long task ahead of me to thoroughly finish him, but once we eliminate all of our problem spots and restore his proper fur, future grooming will go much more quickly. He'll shed less as well if all of his mats are taken out and his undercoat is finally thinned! I was on the verge of giving in and paying more than $100 to have him professionally groomed. I am so pleased with this comb! In addition to the pile of hair, which isn't even all of the hair this comb removed, I also included a few before and after photos. The video demonstrates how this comb's intended tilt allows it to penetrate the topcoat and remove the troublesome undercoat area. You can easily see the change it is making as I write this review, approximately halfway through combing him (we both needed a break)!

I couldn't be happier with this set after ordering it from Amazon because my doctor had a similar comb and my cat adored it. I don't really need the large comb because I have a cat, but those with big, fluffy dogs would love it. Compared to the flat head combs you can buy at department stores, these are far better. Additionally, it arrived packaged so conveniently and cutely in a velvet-like bag inside of a sturdy plastic bag that can be resealed in case you want to leave it outside on the porch like I do. I heartily endorse this set, and my cat does too:)
