What I was looking for, exactly! My cat likes to stand behind his food dishes rather than face them and is a somewhat messy eater. The actual measurements of the two mat sizes offered and the fact that this mat is not rigid but rather rubbery and supple and can be rolled up are two things that are missing from the product description. While this may be useful for traveling, it is not ideal for everyday use when trying to transport a mat full of food and water droplets to the sink without spilling anything. You must hold the sides and shake the container just enough to create a pool of droppings and drips in the center. Then, you must cautiously approach the sink without swinging it or tipping it. (I'm retaining it because it has worked for me thus far.) I feel that I should have gotten the small size mat for my cat's two food bowls and one water bowl, as the large one appears ideal for usage with medium to large size dog bowls. With a beautiful lip to catch wet and dry spills, a water-resistant, non-slip surface on both sides, a very washable surface, a nice design, and a nice grey color, the quality is outstanding and exactly as described. Seeing images of dogs with their three bowls—dry food, wet food, and water—using the large mat and cats with their three smaller bowls—using the smaller mat—might have been helpful to me while placing my order.

I was asked if I would want to test out this new mat as I train dogs. I received a sample from the company, and I must tell that I am quite impressed. This silicone product did not initially smell strongly like some silicone items do. It had a small central fold, but by the second day, it was gone. I've tried various mats, but they did not keep my little dogs' plates from moving across the floor. This one performed considerably better. The dish was not pushed at all by my Shih Tzu. I had to let the Maltese join him before the dish began to move. They pushed the food a little, but not much, as the two of them dug into the platter together. They left some water on the mat, which beaded up nicely. The rim held back the excess water until I could clean it up. Although you must wipe up any spilt water because the mat is too flexible to be carried to the sink to empty it, this mat surely prevents your floor from becoming overly wet. It is suitable for small to medium-sized dogs, but my St. Bernard's water drop would undoubtedly cause it to fail. That would require a much larger and deeper mat, but if you're looking for something that would be aesthetically pleasing with your color selection and useful for your small to medium dog, or possibly under a food dish for a larger dog, this should work! Where I keep their water bowls, it keeps my rug nice and dry.
