Working with my local VSA ( voluntary services for animals). I brought in a few kittens whose eyes were nearly closed with crust and whose little noses were covered in snot and crust. (A sorrowful sight) Within 24 hours, I hurriedly took all 4 to the vet. Well, it ended up costing me close to $800 after they diagnosed it as "Feline Herpes" (an upper respiratory infection that doesn't go away but can be treated)! That helped a little, but not much, with vet bills, test fees, and the "wonderfully costly" medication they gave me for each cat! They were given liquid medications, pills that had to be inserted into their eyes about four times each day, and several antibiotics. It was terrible and really didn't do much to help. It somewhat alleviated it, but they still required medication all the time! I searched the Internet for whatever information I could find and discovered LYSINE! I genuinely believed it to be a lot of "crap," but I was open to anything! The kitties detested the paste and gel I initially purchased. I later purchased this powder. I also purchased and use 500 mg HUMAN GRADE LYSINE tablets, which I smash with a spoon and pour into wet food. This is VERY economical! Use a decent wet food to mix with and you won't have an issue because it tastes stronger than this flavoring powder. My kitties quickly adapted to it. LYSINE powder, which is human-grade and has already been finely crushed, is also available here in BULK. It costs much less and works GREAT. I also appreciate that it is "human" grade. I can now go without LYSINE for months at a time without any flare-ups. This LYSINE is a gift from God. For beginners, I advise using this powder because cats will tolerate it well and it is flavored. bitter, yet I've heard that cats don't actually "taste" bitter.

My 7-year-old Doberman has food and various environmental allergies, as well as sensitivities to grass (eliminated chicken from her diet). Had an itching stomach all the time, especially when the pollen count was high. I've been taking her to an allergist for the past three years, where she receives injections and medication (Atopica). I was aware that a probiotic could be able to aid with this after her skin showed positive for bacteria and yeast this year when the allergy doctor checked it. Her allergies really seemed to ease down after I put her on this probiotic a few months ago, even during the peak pollen season of the fall. Although it still itch, it does so less intensely and doesn't cause open sores or scabbing. Because I despise big pharma, I don't like giving her Atopica, but I was able to almost completely quit doing so and still see improvements with just the injections and probiotics. Who knows, maybe I can stop giving her injections as well as the bad bacteria in her intestines grows. At first, I was a bit sticker shocked by the price, but the results are great, it appears to last a long time, and now I don't mind the cost; it's a good value. Even with two scoops combined with food given to her once day, the very small container lasts a long time. These are quite effective for my cat, but I had to experiment for a while to get it just perfect. The following advice may not be effective for cats of different breeds, but it was for us. I always cut these into smaller pieces since she loves them but they are too big for her to eat. The symptoms of her feline herpes, which she acquired from the shelter, tend to be less severe when the bits are smaller, so I've come to believe that this must assist it enter her system more easily. As they dry out, I also make sure she has a bowl of water immediately next to it. They still become dry even though the package is damp when it is initially opened and the seal is always intact when you reclose it. I also experimented with the amount I give her every day by a half of a treat/several days increase until I discovered the correct maintenance dose for her in part because some reviews mentioned that their veterinarians advised a greater dosage. If she experiences symptoms, I gradually raise the dosage until they go away and reduce the amount of food she consumes on a regular basis to make up for the lost calories. It was worthwhile for me to break them into pieces because this is the only way she will eat her "medicine":-)I'm grateful to all the reviewers who have aided in my decision-making, experimentation, and willingness to try this product. And thanks to Amazon and its suppliers for making this product accessible; otherwise, I would have been forced to make a difficult decision about my cat's wellbeing.

If a product is good, it's good, and if you have cats who are prone to respiratory problems, this is a real blessing!Glenn, one of my five (5) "babies," was nearly dead from pneumonia when I adopted him over two years ago. He required three weeks of IV fluids, forced feeding, three antibiotics, and lysine powder. Fortunately, he lived, but because of a problem with his immunity, he is very susceptible to respiratory infections. Following his recovery, I used the prescribed Lysine powder for the first six months, but I stopped using it when he started to become "persnickety" about eating his food with it mixed in. Within TWO weeks, he started wheezing and sneezing once more. I went back to the powder, but quickly found that I needed to syringe-inject it into his mouth after dissolving it in water before each meal. NON FUN I was worried that I would have a cat who either despised me or that I would have to fight every day because Glenn was starting to turn against me.
