All wheel cylinders are not the same. Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, you will need a specific wheel cylinder. There are many different types of wheel cylinders, so make sure you get the right one for your car.

I would give this a perfect 10 stars if I could! The original production component number is 54540-19B00,54540-19B10 from Suzuki, even if the application chart does not list it as a direct replacement for my 300 king quad front brake cylinders (chart / website does not show ATV's). These were going to cost me between $120-140 at the dealer, but I was fortunate to find them here for around $10. Now if they would just make the drums. There is a little difference in the style of the replacements (see picture); notice the slight taper vs. the squared off ends. I feel like I owe someone a beer. Performance has not been impacted by this.installation note for owners of king quadsYou can install these without removing your brake shoes; just leave everything in place! You can now remove the two bolts holding the wheel and brake drum in place by first removing the bleeder valve, followed by the brake line. There is enough play in the brakes to get them into the grooves if you have the automated adjustment bar; all you have to do is push it with a screwdriver. (I had to turn mine over so they were parallel to the pads; this should take approximately 15 minutes per side.)

This wheel cylinder's pistons are constructed in layers so they may be precisely bored to the right depth to accommodate various shoe link Pin lengths. I had to drill out the pistons in my 1996 Dodge Dakota 4WD pickup in order for the shoe link pins to correctly seat on the cylinder. No drill press is mine. Therefore, I carefully held the pistons in a vise to remove the layers of material while using a hand drill to bore out just enough material to allow the shoe link pins to fit. After I accomplished so, the link pins on the primary and secondary shoes were properly positioned. Then it was installed perfectly as if it were OEM. I can now brake with the rears again.

For my 2002 Dodge Dakota Quad Cab, I bought a right and a left rear wheel cylinder in August 2015. This was a component of a complete brake system upgrade. I suffered a blowout in my steel brake line. I'm quite fortunate that I avoided an accident. Upon inspection, I discovered that the lines had numerous heavily rusted, crusty patches. Very unsettling, therefore I made the decision to replace the majority of the brake system's parts.As many Dakota owners are aware, this truck destroys the braking rotors and pads up front. I've also experienced numerous infamous Dakota front caliper lockups. Naturally, I changed the front rotors, calipers, pads, and hoses as well as both rear wheel cylinders, rear shoes, rear hardware, and rear hose. I switched over to 3/16 ni-copp line for the entire brake line. Although it costs almost twice as much as steel line, it is DOT approved and will never rust. In comparison to steel line, it is also much easier to deal with. Although I did use two bending tools, some complex bends may be made by hand without kinking.My mechanic admitted to me that he had previously seen few customers who had rusted out, ruptured steel brake lines. He stated that he now receives 1 or 2 per month. Something to consider. Take a look at your steel brake lines! To acquire a harder brake pedal, I needed braided stainless steel front brake hoses for my truck, but I was unable to locate any that were specifically for the 2002 Dakota. I would greatly appreciate it if someone could let me know in the comments if they know of a source for these at a fair price.In order to help other Dakota owners who could have experienced the same problems as mine, I went into much more depth than simply the wheel cylinders. They are of very high quality insofar as this wheel cylinder and the opposite side of it match. I have no hesitation in buying this product and heartily endorse it. Looks almost exactly like the motorcraft I discovered on my 2001 Windstar, which has travelled 175k miles. I was relieved to pick them up because one of the old ones fell off and leaked braking fluid everywhere as soon as I pulled a shoe off; I had no trouble installing them and they didn't leak. My recommendation would be to simply replace the rear brakes given the cost and the fact that self-bleed kits are inexpensive and that OEM Tools makes a good one.

Excellent replacement wheel cylinder of the original quality for a 1999 GM truck.It is fully completed and includes a bleeder screw and rubber helmet for it. It is an 8mm screw, so you might need a deep offset box wrench. Transfer your old wheel cylinder's metal adapters to the new one by pulling them out and pushing them in.You will need a 14mm flare nut wrench and a 13mm socket wrench for the GM truck application's two retention bolts.Get some brake fluid as well; any Dot 3 or 4 will do, but AC Delco's is available on Amazon if you want to keep it in the family.

1997 F150. This component was reasonably priced, delivered fast, and resolved my issue. Given that I still need to replace the back brakes, it was merely a band-aid. Even though I am the slowest mechanic ever, it only took me around 2 hours, including a break for lunch and a beer. a really easy task. You can do this if you know how to use a hammer. Brake bleeders are never fun; a torch and a rag soaked in cold water always come in handy. Simple removal of bleeders: If you can find an angle where you're not melting anything, heat the bleeder with a torch (even propane works, no need for MAPP or OA), then push and hold the cloth onto it until it stops sizzling. always effective

Even though I made a senior mistake and bought two of the same side, these turned up fantastic. The duplicate's guts were eventually removed, and they were successfully inserted into the side I had not ordered. So instead of ordering only two of the same side like I did, make sure to order a right and a left. For failing to make it obvious in the product description that you need one right and one left, I docked a star.

This component slid right in like it belonged there. It was correctly threaded, it fit into place exactly, the bleeder screw operated without a hitch, and the brakes are still holding up.
