Even though I had issues with the cables, I didn't feel that returning the item to the company would be worth getting my order amount back. They took the time to do this for me without my asking, thus I'm upgrading my rating from three to five stars. I am connecting two batteries in parallel using this product. What I dislike about this product is that it claims to be 18 inches long, yet it can be longer if you include the lengths of the red and black. It ought to provide the sum of each cable. I found the description to be unclear. I mistook 18 inches for each cable, but whatever. On eBay, I can find a cable for less money. Maybe I should have asked or double-checked, but I didn't. Similar to other ones I have seen and used in terms of quality.

A truck that was more than 20 years old required wire for a large 3 upgrade. I didn't want any of that CCA nonsense; I just wanted copper, and only copper, made of OFC. Most OFC kits cost over $60, which was a bit excessive. Then I discovered them. I even went ahead and used this Spartan wire to replace all of my starter, alternator, and ground wires.They had previously been heat-shrinked and crimped. The wire is excellent. Exceptionally thick terminals and nice, thick copper strands (feels like tinned copper). Heatshrunk terminal ends give the impression that they are lined with adhesive. The adhesive liner will come off from the wire's insulation if you bend the wire too much. But it's unclear if that may cause issues in the future. To be sure, I just covered it with another adhesive headshrink. I have a small concern that moisture will harm the terminals' peep holes. To assist fill it, I poured some solder into it. How they fare over time will be determined, but I'm really impressed. superior to anything sold in auto stores. They also fulfill special requests. Great wire; I hope Spartan starts offering rolls of high-quality OFC in gauges 14, 12, and 10. The GS Power were the only ones I found on Amazon, and they are likewise excellent.

I bought this to replace the cable on my 1971 Ford F-250, and while it functions as intended, the fact that it didn't fit my terminal well detracted from its rating. I had to push it in firmly with a lot of force. I wish the terminal end was a little bit larger, but it functions and I am not concerned that it will come out.Of course, it's possible that I need a new battery, but I'd be shocked if the connections became bigger over time.

This thing is excellently manufactured. The battery post clamp and lug on the other end are of good quality, and the terminal ends are firmly fastened. I appreciate how the copper strands on the ring lug at the opposite end of the battery continue all the way through the lug to just below the point where the stud passes through. It appears as though the conductor wires reach all the way through the terminal ring, which is made out of what appears to be a piece of copper. For strain relief and oxidation prevention, the ring lug is crimped onto the wire insulation.The one thing you must know right now is that it is labelled "made in the USA."

I obtained the rated figure when I measured the Cold Cranking Amps at the battery. CCA decreases by 50% when I use the engine block as the ground for my CCA measurement. I verified using other places as the ground; the drop was the same. It was reduced to one ground strap, which was the only connection between the battery and the car's frame. Older automobiles reportedly have two belts.The bolt, washer, or body contact region appeared to be in good condition to me. Even though the original strap was 15 years old, there was no noticeable rust. In my pile of "faulty parts I want to study later," I threw it away.I therefore changed this strap, and as a result, I can now measure full CCA with engine block ground.
If your car won't start and you have to wiggle the battery cables to get it going, it's likely that the battery terminals are corroded. Corroded battery terminals are a common issue, especially in older cars. The corrosion can build up so much that it prevents the electrical current from flowing from the battery to the starter. Wiggling the cables breaks up the corrosion and allows the current to flow, at least long enough to start the car.
The positive battery cable connects to the starter in order to provide it with power. The negative battery cable also connects to the starter, but it is not used to provide power. The negative battery cable is used to complete the circuit and allow the starter to function.
