I wish other manufacturers, including Ducati, would simply put gear indicators or at the very least do what Ducati has done and provide a port for easy connection. My R1's gear indicator is giving me problems, however this one for my Ducati is absolutely accurate. Easy installation and setup were no problem. As I was leaving work, I was able to install it in the parking lot. took around 10 minutes, of which 3 were spent attempting to position the unit. I wholeheartedly endorse this.

had problems installing. Kastencorp, the seller, was very helpful and swiftly answered my emails. They even requested that I upload a video showing the problems with my bike's gear indicator. I didn't need to because the issue was discovered when I examined my connections again (bad wire tap). The ECU on my 2003 Honda CB919 is located all the way in the back of the vehicle. It's difficult to reach the yellow wire with the tiny green stripe, but I was able to do so using my slender fingers. I had to go to the hardware store to buy some wire and splice it into the green wire of the gear indicator because it is supplied with a green wire that is too short. Anyone may quickly and easily install this gear indicator in 5 minutes if their ECU is close to their speed sensor. It required some effort to reach my ECU because it was so far back and I hadn't taken off my rear fender. The gear indicator I programmed on the road picks up the gears quickly. The gear indicator will remind you to shift through all the gears; just keep the bike between 2-4k RPMS. All six gears might be programmed in less than half a mile of road. In the sun, I have no trouble seeing the display. Overall, especially considering the price, I'm extremely pleased with it thus far.

I think this is the best and easiest item I've ever installed on the bike. A 2018 Honda Rebel 500 is mine. With the exception of attempting to figure out how to conceal the wiring, the installation was quite simple. I underestimated how easy programming it was. Before I even left our neighborhood development, it had mastered every gear. It is a little bit bright and would definitely be annoying at night, but since I don't bike at night, it isn't an issue for me.I remember searching everywhere for instructions before I bought it when I initially looked this up. I couldn't locate any. I'm leaving some behind as a result. The Honda Rebels from 2017 and 2018 should be compatible with this product. Both bikes are the same model but come in various colors. The data port accepts this item for insertion. There is a red plug directly beneath your seat. It is covered. When pulling it off, take care to avoid breaking it. With the accompanying zip ties, all that's left to do is wire it along while being careful not to clamp off anything inappropriate (I just used my own longer ones). Then you drive it on a section of road to program it. That is it, exactly. The fastest and simplest installation ever, and it's very useful to have.I'm new to riding motorcycles as well as to cars with manual transmissions. When I'm riding, I frequently forget what gear I'm in. I think this is fantastic.

***UPDATE 2: Because their customer service repeatedly contacted me with videos and instructions and maintained in touch with me, I'm giving them a five-star rating. Although installation is NOT plug-and-play, the product itself functions as promised. The splice connectors that come with it don't work, and I discovered that one of them didn't even cut the cable sleeve, which prevented a connection from being made to the camshaft sensor cable and caused the programming to fail. I really used electrical tape to splice it, plugged it back in, and it started working straight away. Scripted it in two minutes! ***The installation instructions are initially not very thorough. I was able to install it with the assistance of other reviews, but I haven't gotten it to learn the gears yet; all I have is a flashing light.UPDATE: I'm still unable to make it work, which is very annoying!!!

This indicator is fantastic for my Ninja 300! I selected the "green" "reactangle" options.It's true that there is a brief delay before the digit refreshes and that it doesn't update when the clutch is being pressed, but those aren't the moments when I need to inspect it. And clutchless up/down shifts do work flawlessly with it.The lack of fading on the 7-segment display was the only problem I had with it. This makes it a little challenging to read the numbers during the day or in well-lit conditions. The stickers that come with it are totally clear over the LED segments, thus they are of no assistance in solving this issue. I purchased a smoke lens designed specifically for 7-segment displays (images attached); you could certainly achieve the same result using the screen from an LED alarm clock, an old movie, or something similar. This indication is -perfect- once the display has been filtered! both affordable and useful. The digit should have been windowed, therefore I just don't see why it wasn't done.

Let's get this section of the conversation out of the way first: Absolutely, this is a copy of the GIpro X-style gear indicator. not the current G2 version, but the prior iteration. but for less than half the cost. Even the instructions are definitely from GIpro, but with "GIpro" replaced with "Idea" using the ctrl f search function. It even makes reference to the "SpeedoHealer," a GIpro product.So, kids, you're purchasing a copy. Spend the money on the genuine thing if the ethics annoy you. It's not this.It could or might not employ the same internal parts, and it might or might not be a knockoff produced by the factory hired to produce the original. Who is to say? My illustration works perfectly. I used the wiring schematic in the official service manual's back to put it on a 2015 Yamaha FZ6R. Four wires are required for installation: The device has a male and female plug that allow you to connect it to the transmission's speed sensor wire. The rearmost of the two large rubber boots, under the tank, is where you'll find this plug. Since there are only two connectors on the entire bike that resemble those on this gear indicator, the plugs are simple to identify. The third wire, which is green and black, connects to the crankshaft position sensor wire, which is conveniently placed in the frontmost huge rubber boot and is a square coupler with two wires that is a shade of yellowish green. Use the "natural or black wire," not the grey wire, according to the instructions. In my illustration, the proper wire was white (next to the grey one). The fourth wire can be connected to any switched 12 volt supply wire, however I chose to utilize the positive wire from the rear brake light switch per the instructions (found directly above the crankcase and going to, uh, the rear brake light switch).It's important to note how terrible the "vampire" wire tap splices that come with the kit are. Don't use these; instead, purchase some genuine ones from an auto parts store or a place like. The ones I purchased in a large old bucket at Harbor Freight for $2 were superior. There are also a few tiny zip ties of very dubious quality included, but that's not a problem for me because there isn't really anything to zip tie to between the harness and the handlebars on the FZ6R. So instead, I used electrical tape to secure my wire to the interior of the frame tube. maintaining the highest standards.The fact that they supply an extra stick-on "lens" for the front of the indicator in case yours breaks in a few years also caught me off guard. While you wait, have fun remembering where you put it.The gear indicator works just as it is supposed to. The "universal" kind uses the 1:1 ratio between engine speed and wheel speed to determine your current gear. As long as you pay attention to the instructions, which make it clear that it will only read an accurate gear with the bike moving and the clutch fully released, I found it to be quick and accurate. Only purposefully slipping the clutch at speed, upshifting when stationary (in which case it corrects when you move), and probably flying are ways to "trick" it into indicating an inaccurate gear (or more frequently, no gear). Since it obtains your wheel speed from the countershaft sprocket, not even performing a burnout can mislead it.I purchased the red version, and I have no trouble reading it in the sun. There is no orange model that more closely resembles the dash lighting found on the FZ6.Only the dreadful installation components and blatantly copied directions were docked stars because they made it impossible for me to find the right wires on my bike.
