I purchased it, and while it is a high-quality item, I don't think the extras (flowers, etc.) are essential. Perhaps they are included to keep us customers happy and encourage us to try new things, but their basic "Kaytee Timothy Hay Complete Guinea Pig Food" is sufficient. Years ago, the veterinarian advised us to stop using Alpha Alpha goods and to have as little extra stuff as possible because the rabbit was gaining weight. We switched to this (only rabbit kind) and continue to use it today. The same thing was done for our Guinea Pig, but without the flowers. She still enjoys the food very much, and we supplement the pellets with fresh vegetables once a day and some Timothy hay each day.

I sometimes like to get my guinea pigs new food. They don't seem to be complaining about their meals, but I believe they occasionally like a change. Although the packaging is comparable, I noted that this meal comes more "whole" than other selections. I enjoy receiving food that is not already dust by the time it gets to us, and I'm sure they enjoy the occasional adjustments. Because of the pricing, I've become interested in this product. Only birds and squirrels could be seen feasting on this. I haven't yet seen any rabbits. These feral rabbits appear sick, frail, and close to death. I reasoned that giving them this would improve their health. But I haven't seen them yet. All I can see are very distant male squirrels and numerous Robin, Blue Jay, Black, and other birds. I assumed that only wild creatures would like this, but I was mistaken. There are no bunnies on this, though. I feel sorry for the rabbits. A tiny bag like this will be gone in two to three days due to the other creatures that will be feeding on it. It cost a lot of money for something that lasted so briefly. Squirrels are voracious eaters. Hogs.

In the past, my rabbit wasn't really interested in hay. She never nibbled on the inexpensive food I was purchasing from Petco. I absolutely don't want to pay for a vet appointment when she could just eat more hay because rabbits need to eat hay to file down their teeth else a veterinarian has to do. My rabbit won't eat anything but bananas and carpet, which is insanely difficult. She used to eat approximately half as much before I gave her this hay, but neither of those things are beneficial for her. I'm not sure of the correct phrase, but the hay "strands" are lengthy and simple for my rabbit to chew. I merely line her litter box with the shorter strands and place them in toy boxes. When I open the box of hay to add more to her pen, she truly gets happy. Actually quite enduring, the box is excellent for keeping the hay. I still have a lot left after a month. There will likely be enough for a few more months.Separately, the words "Timothy Hay" and "Small Pet" are written on the box when it is delivered. I just want to warn you. When my landlord noticed the package on my porch, I had to explain myself.

My bunnies absolutely adore this stuff. I purchased a large box of standlee hay after reading reviews. After a month, my bunnies won't touch it. I filled a little wooden manger, both sides of a litter box, a wire hanging hay feeder, and a small ball hay feeder with one of these tiny bales. For all of stuff, it took around half a bale. Before I even pulled the old hay out, my bunnies started tearing at it as I was putting it in. Don't be duped into thinking that more costly hay is superior. Although these tiny bales are inexpensive, my boys absolutely adore them.

When we feed him regular plain green pellet food—although I now have this on subscribe and save due to how upset he was when we ran out once—he picks and only grudgingly consumes some; however, when we feed him this stuff, he charges over and attempts to push our hands out of the way in order to eat RIGHT NOW. As a result, he frequently spills his food. We will keep buying him this meal because not many things in life can make someone this content. Although I cannot comment on the nutritional value, it definitely makes our bunny happy.One suggestion: keep it outside. The rabbit evidently told his other rodents about it, and then we started to find mice—they seemed to enjoy it as well.

The hay has made me and my two guinea pigs very happy. They adore it to the hilt. I initially fed them hay I acquired from a store that sold supplies for rescuing rabbits. They offered pet supplies, such as hay bales for rabbits and guinea pigs. The hay was wrapped in a plastic bag and was of the long, yellow stand variety. Initially, my guinea pigs consumed this hay, but after a few weeks, they began to consume progressively less of it. I so changed to Kaytee Timothy Hay. They adore it, too! They have been eating it for months, and whenever they hear me handle the plastic bag it arrives in to refill their hay feeder, they become thrilled and start making their wheek wheek sounds. Along with guinea pig pellets, fruits, and vegetables, my guinea pigs eat a healthy diet. They receive a serving of pellets in the morning, fruits and vegetables at night, and twice daily hay replenishment in their feeder. They also have a sizable habitat with three levels in which they can move around. Plus because of this and the hay they consume, they are quite healthy, powerful, and energetic.

Updated in July 2017: Kaytee recently modified these hay cubes. It appears that the proportion of alfalfa hay in these cubes has increased and is now 10% protein (up from 6% previously) and 30% fiber (down from 32% previously), which isn't as good for adult rabbits. It is probably greater in calcium as well because of the extra alfalfa, but adult bunnies shouldn't consume too much calcium.The first two bags of these new hay cubes were especially notable since they were now dryer, more crumbly, less dense, and not as darkly green (there were now more golden hay bits in them which my rabbit leaves behind). The first two bags of this new recipe for "Timothy Hay Blend Cubes" didn't appeal to my rabbit, but the third bag seems to be less crumbly than the first two, and he's happy with them once more. I really wish Kaytee would have left the formula alone, though.My rescued rabbit adores these Timothy cubes, as stated in the original review. He considers these hay cubes to be the best thing ever. To make sure I never run out, I purchase them each month.They are roughly 1.25 to 1.5 cubes "they are square and range in length. I cut off a 3/4 "To allow me to quietly sweep his two litter boxes, I feed him a piece from a cube each day. He immediately sets down to eat it. He absolutely adored this high-fiber treat from the first time I offered it to him, and since the protein content is only 6%, it's not at all rich and is also well-tolerated by his stomach. I feel comfortable about giving him this treat. In terms of nutrients, it is identical to Kaytee's ordinary Timothy hay. These actually contain a small amount of alfalfa hay, just enough to be processed as Kaytee claims, and it must be a very small quantity for the nutritional value to stay the same as Timothy hay alone.Although I think rabbits only use their front teeth to chew on these cubes, they need long strand hay to work and wear down their back teeth. These cubes are actually just a treat.You can see how it leaves a little bit of a mess on the carpet in the picture that accompanies this review. His bedroom has a little indoor/outdoor carpet, so every few days I just quickly sweep the hay bits off with my Bissell brush sweeper (which is similar to a non-electric manual vacuum; you often see them in restaurants). However, it won't help you if your rabbit decides toss the hay cube around. =) If you have longer carpet, you might try giving this to your rabbit in a specific location that's simpler to clean, like on a towel, a piece of fleece, or a piece of linoleum.
