Ente, the 5-year-old grandson's dog, passed away over night. He was discovered dozing off on his blanket next to his bed, just as he normally did. I'm quite happy that I bought this item. Jasper is just 4 years old and won't cross the rainbow bridge for another 100 years, but this will be a wonderful memento for when he does. The frame is really solid and of very high quality, and the clay was simple to mold.If your dog is anything like mine, Jasper despises the water. His paw was immersed in water that I had filled a tiny container with, then I pressed it into the clay. But the moment I submerged his paw, the game was over, and he refused to play along. I had to redraw his paw numerous times, and at one point, all I did was "wash" it with a damp cloth to achieve a good print.Before you do this, you should make sure to thoroughly clean your dog's paws and, if necessary, cut any excess hair off the pads. Now that I have dirt and hair prints on it, I did not do this for Jasper. However, I believe that it makes it even more unique. Jasper is so like him—he has hair and grime all over! I even had enough clay left over to quickly create a second paw print for a Christmas ornament so as not to worry him. I thought I had time even though it isn't finished yet!For the quality of the clay (I was expecting for something a little nicer) and the tape it comes with, I gave it a rating of four stars. Only an hour or so did the tape stay in place? To keep it on, I used hot glue, which works much better.

This was precisely what I needed. It has adequate room to accommodate a good number of ashes. I've read that some people wear it as a necklace, but unless you're wearing it on a very long chain, it looks just too enormous for that. I got this so that my husband could ride his motorcycle while carrying his sister's ashes in his saddlebags. The wing was ideal for him because it somewhat resembles the Harley design and is a robust item. If you want to attach it, an extra wing is included, but I thought that was a bit much. Additionally, it has a key ring that would be perfect for holding his bike keys, although I would be concerned that too much vibration or wind resistance would cause the cap to unscrew or damage the tiny attachment ring. I concur with others that the top should be glued on for security.

My 11-year-old was devastated by the loss of our poodle because he was his first pet. For the past month, he hasn't felt like himself. My Miniature Schnauzer passed away from cancer recently. I was looking for an urn that honored his life rather than served as a constant reminder of his passing. I had his paw cast in plaster years ago, and it still fit inside the exhibit, even though it was too late to use the provided equipment to get a paw imprint. There is plenty of space inside the box. I was able to keep his collar and harness in addition to the box containing his ashes that the burial home provided me. If I choose to hold one of his favorite toys, there is still space within. I still feel a great deal of pain from his passing, but I appreciate being able to show a picture of him smiling next to his pawprint. This is precisely what I needed to honor his life, and I got it. My family and friends are happy that I pursued this concept. I had to make a small tweak to the design to fit the plaster cast, but if I had been able to use the kit that came with it, I definitely could have produced a slimmer version.

Now that I have two dogs, I wanted a matching one to go with the one I received as a gift for my first dog. These will never be hard decorations, first and foremost. This is not a paste that hardens; there is no baking involved. It nearly has the consistency of waxy play-dough that you roll out, put their paw into, and over the course of 24 hours, it gradually hardens to rubber. If you make your ornaments smaller than the cutter they supply, you actually get enough in one to make more than one (they provide you with everything except the foil they say makes it easier to keep the material smooth when rolling it out). Your hands will eventually become sore from the roller (I wound up making 4 ornaments when all was said and done).Before pushing their paw into the material, properly clean it because this thing will display every bit of dirt. And it's non-toxic and safe for them. After drying, it can also be painted on. To identify whose ornament it was, I used standard art project paint from Michael's and added their names to the bottom. The material is also quite pliable; I used it to make two additional ornaments. I cut out letters, placed them on top, then moulded them into the shape of bones before painting them all after they had dried (for pets who have passed on).I won't lie; this will resemble a kid's craft in some ways. If you want something that is cooked in a kiln and then glazed, do not get this. But if you simply wanted something enjoyable to always remember your pet by and enjoy doing things yourself (besides, it created for some enjoyable moments with my pups), then I strongly recommend this. These were the enjoyable, family ornaments that I get to remember making with them:) I have porcelain "Gotcha Day" decorations from Etsy to be all nice looking.
