It slips into the stand's middle, allowing it to be utilized as a BOOM or STRAIGHT stand. Duh! Since I'm a beginner, perhaps this is typical. Not one of my other cymbal stands has this function. Straight stand and boom stand components for the DW 800 have part numbers. I don't see why someone would choose to purchase the straight when the boom model offers both. I'm prone to obscuring the obvious. This would be another illustration. I like the stand and the 2-in-1 capability. It ought to be promoted on the box. Another reviewer sent his back because he expected a boom stand but got a straight stand instead. I now worry if he unknowingly acquired a boom stand.

The greatest, most stable and balanced cymbal stand is the Gibraltar Boom Cymbal Stand. My son loves the one I bought for him. Since I've been using Gibraltar brand for 30 years, I don't currently see any alternatives that can compare. This one has a 20" cymbal and won't topple over with the right adjustments. This was a fantastic deal for a top-notch product.

Although I'm not Gilbraltar-sponsored, I urge everyone to get this equipment. The stand flawlessly supports my 20-inch HCS Meinl ride cymbal when I place it on it. It holds my cymbal precisely; there is no bouncing or tipping. Since I now have a China cymbal and I needed the boom arm, I've exchanged cymbal stands, but once again, this stand handles it well. When I say "bouncing," I mean that when I hit the cymbal, the stand doesn't flex. Now, I would probably choose a more robust stand if I had a thick 22 or 24 inch ride. However, Gilbraltar produces high-quality goods, therefore I'll keep using their hardware as long as I play the drums.

For the price, it is as I anticipated. It's not as durable as one you would acquire for more money, but it's adequate for my needs. My drum kit is left set up; I don't move it. On this stand, I have a 15" AAX Crash, and it functions perfectly. However, I wouldn't advise doing this for cymbals that are much larger than that. It most likely would topple over. However, for what I need, it is a good price.
