Best Soprano Saxes Bags & Cases in 2020

Fusion UW-01-BK Urban Series Soprano Sax / Clarinet / Flute Gig Bag Review:

This bag is AWESOME and suits my needs perfectly. I previously had a Reunion Blues leather gig bag, which is also very nice, but I always had to carry a second bag for my music. I live in Chicago and commute everywhere via public transportation and walking (a lot of walking). The RB bag didn't fit over the shoulder as nicely, and carrying a second bag was always a pain. With this bag I can throw in my real book and put it on my back and forget about it.

The extra waist straps come in handy for the super long walking trips, and they can easily be tucked away if you don't want them (I usually don't).

I've walked miles with this thing and since the bag is so sturdy and comfy it wasn't a burden at all. I can barely even tell when I have it on.

The only reason I give it 4 stars is because it is not as safe as most other hard shell cases. There really is no cut-out for the saxophone in the bag, just one big pouch and a Velcro strap to strap it in. You have to be extra careful to not bang into things because this clearly isn't as safe as some cases would be. I'd recommend some key guards. You can also throw a towel in the bag with your saxophone just to give some extra padding and fill up the space.

The other thing I'd like to see is a slightly bigger pouch for music. I'd hate to see it get too bulky, but you can't really fit more than one book in here.

Overall, I would recommend this bag to city dwellers like me who do a lot of walking. If you don't do a lot of walking, I might suggest something with a little bit better protection.

Clarinet Oboe Soprano Saxophone EWI Electronic Torch Sax Gig Bag Hot Review:

This was worth the long month I waited for this to arrive. I took a chance and thought it might be overpriced, but it is worth the money.

I am not using this for its intended application. I purchased this not to transport a musical instrument but a firearm. This snugly fits a Mossberg Shockwave firearm. In fact with the reinforced end (approx 5 inch diameter) it accommodates a offset light mount with a tactical flashlight attached. I do not yet have a laser mounted on the top of the firearm but I believe once I do it will still fit in the case. This is sturdy construction and handles the weight of the firearm and extra ammo well. Double riveted leather reinforced handle & shoulder strap mounts. Well cushioned inside with conformable leather wrapped handles, protects the contents and easy to carry with attached shoulder strap. I would not carry with shoulder strap with a firearm inside as the included strap is not heavy duty. Should work well for a musical instrument but would instead use a rifle sling (easy to attach, has D rings) when carrying a firearm. Has an accessory pocket on outside, appox 7.8" long x 3.8" high x 1" deep. This pocket accommodates box's of 3.5" 12ga shells.

This is significant enough to mention. The smell, has a overwhelming smell to it right out of the package. Stronger on the inside than the outside. I don't know what was used to cushion this but it highly stinks. I am guessing and only guessing, the cushion material has formaldehyde in it. That is what the smell reminds me of. I set the case open outside at 55 degrees and windy and after a couple of hours the smell was dramatically reduced. Brought it back inside and the smell is reduced but still noticeable. Will it completely dissipate over time? I took one star off because of the overpowering smell and will endeavor to update the odor factor after a week or so.

Final thoughts. It is a heavy duty well made case. Provides adequate protection for contents and only time will tell how it well it holds up. Works perfectly for transporting a Mossberg Shockwave back and fourth from range. But would not recommend it for outdoor field use. I plan to spray silicone water proofing on the outside after the smell dissipates. Until some waterproofing is applied I would not let this get wet as I think the foam inside would hold water like a sponge.

Please note I used the word "leather" in this review. I do not know for sure if the material used is actual leather, it could be a synthetic material.

Pro:
Sturdy strong canvas construction.
Accommodates a Mossberg firearm.
Can handle heavy contents. Good looking case.

Con:
Long shipping time.
Strong Offensive Smell.
Not water resistant.

***Update after 3 weeks of use. Has held up very well, this is a quality made product. Considering I have been transporting a heavy weapon in it I am impressed.
As for the foul odor that accompanies the case. After airing it out repeatedly the smell has dissipated to almost not detectable. I can now fully recommend this case but just be aware of the initial smell that come with it.

Soprano Saxophone Bag Sax Case - 1200D Water-resistant Oxford Cloth bB Saxes handbag and Backpack Review:

Wow - really impress especially for the price! Superb craftsmanship, smooth & secured zipper, & fast shipping. My Buffet Crampon clarinet fits perfectly. Once it is zipped up, the instrument does not move inside. The padding is thick enough to secure the instrument in place but I wish it was thicker for added security. Maybe in the future there could be an alternative to chose thickness with different price ranges. I needed this alternative because I only take my clarinet with me once a week & I didn't want to take the time putting it together & apart - every minute counts in class & practices. I gave it five stars overall because I am more than satisfied & grateful for having this alternative for a great price & receiving it fast by mail. I recommend this product for adults & advanced music students.

Curved Soprano Saxophone PRO PAC Case by Protec, Model PB310C Review:

My first impression: A little heavier than I expected. The quality is very good. Built tough to military standard. It is not a soft case as I expected but it has a hard shell inside. It is more like a suitcase. You have to open the zip and open the case like a suitcase. It even has rubberized soles on the bottom and sides. Includes a strong padded shoulder strap.

Having said that, this is not a custom tailored case for EWI5000.
I expected the accessory box would hold the wireless receiver of the EWI5000 but is a tad bit small. But you can store the EWI neck strap, USB cable, the USB charger and some extra cables.

I expected the EWI5000 to fit like the saxophone as shown in the picture but the EWI mouthpiece is not removable. So the EWI mouthpiece (along with the EWI mouthpiece cover) sits on top of the accessory box . The EWI is not snug fit. Here is where you need to tweak. Place the two small pads on both sides of the EWI mouthpiece and the EWI is secure enough.

The EWI wireless unit sits at the bottom of the case snug between the velcro-based-pad and the center hub.

Why 4 stars?
- Not custom made for EWI5000.
- Not 100% snug fit but comes close.
- A bit pricey at $99 for a case.

Final words: A very nice case for EWI5000 once you set it right. I like it.

Beaumont Alto Saxophone"Candy Band" Alto Saxophone Case - Alto Sax Lightweight Alto Sax Case - Professional Saxophone Backpack Case - Alto Sax Gig Bag - Sax Alto Review:

A beautiful and well-made case that is very stylish and gives great protection to your horn without the bulkiness of a box. Drawbacks are some of the covering pulled loose from the zipper and the strap that holds the top in place so that it doesn’t flip completely backwards had ripped at the top. It was an easy fix though as it was only held in by Staples and a little super glue to reattach felt and it’s as good as new. I really like this case and would buy it again
