Cat-back exhaust systems are aftermarket exhaust systems that replace the section of a vehicle's exhaust system between the catalytic converter and the muffler. The main reason people install a cat-back system is for improved performance, specifically increased power and torque. In some cases, there may also be a small fuel economy improvement. Additionally, many people believe that a cat-back system gives their car a more aggressive sound. So, are cat-back exhaust systems worth it? That really depends on what you're looking for. If you're mostly interested in performance
If your car's exhaust system needs to be replaced, you might be wondering if you can do it yourself. The answer is maybe. It depends on your skills and experience. If you're not confident in your abilities, it's probably best to leave it to a professional. However, if you're handy and have some experience working on cars, you might be able to replace your exhaust system yourself. You'll need to have the right tools and be familiar with car parts and how they work. You'll also need to be comfortable working under your car. If you're up for the challenge
Installing a cat-back exhaust system will not increase your vehicle's fuel economy. In fact, it may actually decrease fuel economy slightly due to the increased back pressure.

The Gibson Exhaust is nice. It has a pleasant sound, however it is somewhat loud. When you are cruising with it, there is a drone. My 2007 Chevrolet SS Impala has a Maganflow. It sounds more subdued. I would have bought that, but I instead purchased this Gibson for, say, $500 or more. I decided to give it a try because the Magnaflow was roughly $900 plus and both had lifetime guarantees. The Gibson is a good choice if you have a limited budget and prefer a stronger tone similar to a Flowmaster. I believe they claim it gave my truck an additional 15-20 HP. If you don't like a drone flying at fast speed, I recommend investing in a Magnaflow. On the truck, I suppose the Magnaflow would sound similar. both 5.3 V8 motors. The 2015 Silverado's horsepower was increased, thus there may be a little sound difference. Look up some sound-only videos on YouTube.

Installing on my own was not that easy. While tightening clamps, fresh pipes must be held in place. It would be advisable to get assistance, if only to hold objects and support the pipe below as you attach the turbo clamp, which is a difficult task to complete alone. To get the old down pipe out and the new one in, you'll need to cut a stud in the firewall. I ground with a die. Instructions would be helpful because you will need to put the items out underneath to match the hangers in order to determine where they go. It would be lot simpler if you could hoist your truck up than it would be to use a torch to cut the old pipe out on the shop floor as I did. Consider using a sawsall like others have. My 2003 long bed crew cab pickup worked out just fine. Ensure clamps are tight for the following oil change. When it's finished, the sound is incredible and resembles a jet. All the attractive girls will notice you when the turbo whistle reverberates across the town. In order to increase power and improve fuel efficiency, I also fitted the blue spring kit. It's an excellent deal if you're good with wrenches or know someone who is.

In less than a week, the product reached the east coast.I wasn't sure what to anticipate because of the price and the hazy description. To my astonishment, the system is entirely made of stainless steel. Everything is non-magnetical other from the clamps.I would assume that the piping is 4 series SS (410?) and the muffler is 3 series SS (304?) without performing PMI.I had to modify the head pipe to fit my 2000 normal cab step side, so I can't really confirm 100% fit.Once I figured out which way to turn the over the axle pipe and which hangers worked best, there were no fit concerns with the muffler returning. With the mig welder, which is all I have, the piping welded smoothly.Regarding the sound. Has a pleasant throaty growl at idle that isn't annoyingly loud and no interior drone is discernible.Overall, happy with the buy. If it will outlive the truck, only time will tell.

In all honesty, it performs precisely as it should. I purchased a 2 1/2 inch to 2 1/2 inch adapter for each end pipe, cut what I required, and secured everything with 2 1/2 inch exhaust clamps. There were no leaks and none that were noticeable when the engine was running and the door was closed. My 1977 Nissan 280Z has an MSA catback exhaust kit, which I modified by cutting the pipe after the cat to fit the cutout and directing the exhaust to dump behind the differential rather than directly at it. Review to appear in upcoming months. Although there is some minor rust growing from the additional moisture, it is nothing unusual and will go away in the coming months. The electric motor still functions and seals well with no leaks.

really simple to install I had great success with a sawzall and 3" buttjoint clamps. If you're not proficient with one, don't use a sawzall, lol! Even if the valve doesn't completely seal when it is closed, it has no noticeable effect and doesn't create a sound. It took me 15 minutes to cut and install, and an additional 15 to cover the wire properly. It fits well on my 2016 Ram Hemi, and using it makes me happy. The negative aspectIt appears that the wire entering the electric motor is a weak area. I tightly covered the wire in electrical tape. It would be wonderful to have a single button in the cab to press, and I wish it had an on/off switch with just one button because you can program it into your garage door opener.
Exhaust tips do change sound, but it’s not a significant difference. It’s more of a personal preference thing. Some people like the way it sounds, and some don’t. It’s really up to you.
No, you don't need a catalytic converter for a cat back exhaust. Cat back exhaust systems are designed to replace the stock exhaust system from the catalytic converter back. So, if you have a catalytic converter on your vehicle, you will still need it even if you have a cat back exhaust system.
Pep Boys does not install exhaust systems.
A cat-back exhaust is a great way to improve your car's performance. But how long does it take to install one? The answer depends on a few factors, such as the make and model of your car, and the type of cat-back exhaust you choose. But in general, you can expect the installation to take about two hours. So if you're looking to give your car a little boost, a cat-back exhaust is a great option. Just be sure to factor in the installation time when you're making your plans.
It takes about 2 hours to replace an exhaust system. This includes the time to remove the old system and install the new one.
