Aftermarket camshafts can offer some benefits over stock camshafts, but it really depends on what you're looking for and how much you're willing to spend. If you're just looking for a little more power, then aftermarket camshafts may not be worth it. However, if you're looking for substantial gains in power and performance, then aftermarket camshafts can be a great option. Just keep in mind that they can be expensive, so be sure to do your research and talk to an expert before making a purchase.
No, you cannot just upgrade a camshaft. You must also upgrade the pushrods, rockers, and springs.
If a camshaft is damaged, it will need to be replaced. Depending on the severity of the damage, it may be possible to have the camshaft repaired. However, this will likely be more expensive than simply replacing the camshaft.

While adjusting the timing set out, I steadily turned the camshafts on my 5.4. Simple to operate and almost equivalent in appearance to expensive models. Before ordering these, confirm the version of the 4.6/5.4 you currently have. These are for engines made by "Windsor." If your engine is a "Romeo," you require special tools (These will not fit due to the cam caps). Counting the bolts holding the cam covers to the head is the simplest way to determine this from the outside. If it is higher than 11, a Windsor is used.

I occasionally encountered P0015 and P0025 problems related to the exhaust cam adjustments. A 45 minute job from start to end, without any urgency. I was able to remove and reinstall both sides using a 1/4" closed end wrench on the torx bolts. In order to fit the adjuster, I also had to unscrew the three bolts holding the power steering pump to the vehicle.

I basically docked a star for the description's lack of clarity. This device fits a 30v 2.8. That ought to be in the title, per the vendor. It worked perfectly after I simply narrowed the tool and welded it back together. Some folks might not be able to do it. In other words, a quality tool will function superbly on a 30v.

The first time I used this tool, it quickly paid for itself. didn't need to fiddle with the timing. Simply remove the valve covers to access the valvetrain and perform the necessary repairs. I quickly installed new cams, roller followers, and phasers. The only drawback is that it isn't very long, but it still accomplishes the task.

When you remove a camshaft that is fastened by one of these torque-to-yield bolts, as is the case with the double overhead cam 2.4 liter 4 cylinder Ecotec engines used by GM in a variety of vehicles, new nuts must be installed in its place. They are stretched past the point of reuse when they are tightened to manufacture specifications. These Dorman bolts are of high quality, easily obtained, and more affordable than purchasing OEM bolts from a dealer. They come in packets with two bolts, and both are required. Never take a chance on engine repairs. You'll be happy you have them on hand if you purchase a package and save them in your glovebox for when your Ecotec engine breaks down after a few years of use.

If your cam is bad, you'll likely notice a decrease in image quality. Your pictures may appear blurry or pixelated, and you may have difficulty focusing the camera. Additionally, you may notice that your camera's shutter speed is slower than usual, or that it takes longer to save images. If you experience any of these issues, it's best to take your camera to a professional for diagnosis and repair.
It takes about an hour to install a cam. You will need to remove the old cam and install the new one.
How long a camshaft lasts depends on a number of factors, but with proper care and maintenance, it should last several years. One of the most important things to do is to keep the camshaft lubricated. This can be done by regularly changing the oil and using a high-quality oil filter. It's also important to keep the camshaft clean and free of debris. If the camshaft does become damaged, it's important to have it repaired or replaced as soon as possible to avoid further damage to the engine.
A V6 engine typically has four camshafts: two for the intake valves and two for the exhaust valves. Some V6 engines, however, may have only two camshafts, with each camshaft operating both the intake and exhaust valves on one side of the engine.
Adding a performance camshaft to your engine can add more horsepower. But how much horsepower do camshafts add? It really depends on the camshaft and the other engine modifications you've made. If you've made other modifications like increasing the displacement or adding a forced induction system, then a performance camshaft can add even more horsepower. But if you're just installing a camshaft by itself, you can expect to see an increase of about 10-20 horsepower.
Adding a Stage 3 cam to your engine can add up to 50 horsepower. The increase in power is due to the camshaft's ability to open and close the valves more aggressively, which allows more air and fuel to enter the combustion chamber.
