Pertronix 2541N6 6 Volt Negative Ground Autolite 4 Cylinder Ignitor Review:


My 1943 Willys Jeep runs a lot better and smoother after I installed this. The contemporary wiring on my Jeep needs to be hidden, so that his change is undetectable. I received excellent service from Pertronix, who had to send me the proper grommet because the one that was given did not function. On my 1957 Chevy, I also have a Pertronix, and it functions just fine. It's convenient not to have to fiddle with the points and adjust the gap. Due to the fact that the first one I got was erroneous, I had to match it up with the distributor's make and model. The item is well-made and simple to set up. It's been incredibly dependable thus far.



Pertronix 1589 Prestolite 8 Cylinder Ignitor Review:


The distributor ignition module for the Prestolite is the only available replacement. It looks entirely different from the factory component but functions excellently.requires adjusting the time. Additionally, be careful to fully depress the reluctor collar that comes with it. This required a fair amount of equally distributed force, and even if it is just a tiny bit too high, it won't operate at full capacity. Installing took only two minutes, however troubleshooting the too-high reluctor collar took almost an hour.



PerTronix 1281 Ignitor for Ford 8 Cylinder Review:


In my 1965 Ford Mustang, I was going to modify the points, but instead of getting a dwell meter, I thought I'd try this. Some claim they were simply able to connect it to the factory wiring (pink resistor wire), which is connected to the coil's positive side. I tried that, however it did not function well on mine because there were numerous misses. I used an alligator clip to connect the positive side of the battery for 12V and started the car to compare the differences. It idled significantly higher and operated much more smoothly. Then, before the pink wire, I ran a 16 gauge wire from the red/green wire by the ignition switch. I had to fully adjust my idle screw after starting it because I discovered my idle was still substantially higher. To achieve the proper idle, I'll need to alter my throttle linkage. Additionally, because I have a stock engine, I will need to check my timing to ensure that it is approximately 8 degrees.

Pertronix 1168LS Lobe Sensor 6 Cylinder Delco Ignitor Review:


With a Weber 32/36 DVG manual choke carburetor and a 235 six-cylinder engine, I installed this on my 1959 Chevy Pickup. Since my son or I have owned it, this ancient truck has never started or run this well. I didn't realize how simple it would be to install this ignition. I managed to do that without needing to remove the distributor from the truck. I was unsure how this ignition would function because it appeared so simple and straightforward. The truck immediately began to move. This ignition system has really pleased me. To go with this, I also purchased the Flame Thrower 40,000 volt coil. Everyone should use it, everything for the ignition appears to be stock.



PerTronix 91281 Ignitor II Adaptive Dwell Control for Ford 8 Cylinder Review:


In April 2016, I switched out the points ignition system on my 1971 Mustang for the Pertronix 91281 Ignitor II. The vehicle started and ran well thanks to this ignitor. A few months later, I made the decision to add the Flamethrower ignition coil, and it started better than before. Unfortunately, on one day in August 2017, the automobile stubbornly refused to start. I found the dead Pertronix Ignitor to be the source of the issue. It simply passed away without any prior warning. After considerable investigation, I discovered that the Ignitor II with adaptive dwell control has experienced more problems than the Ignitor I of the first generation. My Mustang is now running great after I installed a new Ignitor I that I overnighted from Amazon. Thankfully, Pertronix offers a 30-month guarantee on these units, which I will be utilizing. It literally only takes five to ten minutes to install, so even in a parking lot it would be simple. I'll probably simply retain the replacement as a backup in case my new one fails. I would have easily given it five stars if the first unit hadn't collapsed only after a year.



PerTronix 1847V Ignitor for Bosch 4 Cylinder Review:


VW 914 Type 4 in 1975, Porsche, 60k miles 40s Dellorto. 12/19/2016 installationFollowing: Valve timing was adjusted to mark at idle and 28* at 3200 rpm. Reset the idle and sync times, then retiming. Car runs more smoothly than ever. I'll attempt to update in around a month, but let's see how long that takes. 4 Stars because the bottom of the rotor had to be ground down by 1/4". I'll check the height in a few days by examining the interiors of the distributor pickups and the locations of the spark jumps. Using NGK B6ES plugs with a.029 gap and a German-made Beru blue coil with p=3.5 s=7.4. Have the huge black original Bosch Coil as well as the German-made Bosch Blue 3 spade. on one side for future comparison. Fair Quality construction materials were used, but it seems to be working for now. I'm still not convinced, but the last drive after it was tuned yesterday was fantastic, and if performance is the same later today, I'll have to admit that even the best points can't compare to the performance and smoothness.



PerTronix LU-142A Ignitor for Lucas 25D 4 Cylinder Review:


MG Midget 72 — Before it started sputtering and running so poorly, I was at a loss. I had previously replaced the points, cap, rotor, wires, and plugs and had it operating well. I tried to adjust it once more but was unsuccessful, so I decided to acquire an electronic replacement rather than a fresh set of points and condenser. It barely took me a half-hour even after I removed the distributer to make the installation easier. It immediately started to burn, and the splutter is long gone. I am as thrilled as can be right now. Although these devices have a wonderful guarantee and you won't be left stranded if you keep your set of points in the trunk, I have heard horrible things about them suddenly failing. Hopefully that will continue for as long as I own this vehicle.Try it out! Before removing anything, mark which side of your coil is negative (with the lead from the distributer to the coil). This will help you know where to place the black wire.



PerTronix 1181 Ignitor for Delco 8 Cylinder Review:


a few things that might be useful to you.For my 1967 Buick Skylark, I purchased the 4011 coil and the 1181 ignitor. I wanted to rule out the coil and points as probable problem locations because the points are difficult to service. The coil and the module both need a full 12 volts, which are not accessible since a resistance wire in the circuit is connected to the coil. This was something I had not anticipated. Installing a jumper to remove a fire wall-mounted resistor from your vehicle is now a straightforward process, but it becomes a little trickier when the resistor wire is located anywhere in the harness. I was able to locate a nearby 20 amp fused circuit that was connected to the Kick Down switch. This was delivered to the coil and then diverted to the module. Dispute settled! The coil's diameter is around 1/8 to 3/16 inches larger than the factory unit, which they failed to mention to me. To minimize harming the coil, the factory configured these components so that the bolt holding the coil bracket to the block only applied a minor amount of pressure. To properly fasten the coil to the frame without breaking it, a smaller 10-24 screw was employed. To take up the slack between the mounting tabs, I machined a tiny bushing (or you could stack some washers in there) to remedy the first issue. This measured about 1/4 inch in length. I checked to see if the coil could still move freely inside the bracket after tightening it with a nut. After that, since the first 10-24 screw wasn't long enough, I went to the hardware shop and bought a longer one that I then cut down to size.I was ready to go after adding some shrink tubing to the no-linger used old coil wire. However, I did order a backup module just in case.I hope someone else will benefit from this.



PerTronix 1261 Ignitor for Ford 6 Cylinder Review:


After installation, this functioned just as I had hoped it would. Although the setup was a little different from what was depicted in YouTube videos, with a little forethought I was able to connect it. I want to emphasize the importance of getting the appropriate module for your vehicle. Since not all distributors are created equal, I went to the Pertronix website to gather all the information I needed and the right application for my automobile. Research will be beneficial. The cost was reasonable. I put it on, verified it, and set the timing before driving the vehicle. I observed improved performance and acceleration at high RPM. Any older car would benefit from this modification, in my opinion.
