When it was on sale during Prime Day, I purchased this. With the exception of the Party games, I adore Mario games, and Mario Maker is no exception. The controller's battery life disappoints me, however it can be easily fixed by playing when plugged in. I enjoy that I can use the controller to play while the TV is off or on a different channel. I can see why this console failed a little bit since, despite keeping the motion controller feature, it veered off the fun Wii path. It doesn't stop me from playing on it for hours, though, and I'll be buying lots of inexpensive games until the next generation is out in the next year.

Since I knew very little about the Wii U before I started researching, I was surprised to find this package for $234. I began comparing and concluded that the only difference was that this had 8GB instead of the deluxe's 32GB. Additionally, I learned that the memory could be increased using an inexpensive SD card, so I wasn't concerned. According to reports, purchasing the Deluxe earns you some Wii U club points, which are presumably worth some money, but not a lot in my opinion. The bundled games come next. My kids really wanted Skylanders, and since Mario 3D is now available for the Wii U, I reasoned that purchasing this package in addition to 3D Mario would still be less expensive than purchasing the deluxe version with the original Mario Game. Although the Luigi U game is included with the Deluxe, you may purchase it elsewhere for $20. In the end, I have no regrets about purchasing this bundle. However, I also discovered that you need an external HD to download games (I prefer the digital distribution of games because my little boys scratch the CD games). The internal memory and SD card are utilized to store game data as well as other items like downloaded apps. You will therefore require at least a 500GB hard drive if you purchase any version of the Wii U and want to download games (20gb per game on average) My kids adore this set-up, and the tablet works really well as a controller to add some special features to console gaming. To complete the game, you might eventually need to purchase additional Skylanders toys, but the ones that came with it are sufficient for the youngsters to play with. I'm very happy I chose this package instead of paying more for the deluxe version. Oh, and here's a hint: don't open the box with the kids all giddy. The download of all the updates will take around 3 hours. In addition to the initial upgrade, each game and app requests a console update. Therefore, get it on Friday, put the kids to bed, set it up that evening, and let them awaken to a surprise on Saturday.

Over the years, I've owned a lot of different systems. The first Gameboy, Sega Genesis, Super Nintendo, Original PlayStation, Nintendo 64, and Atari Lynx (if you even know what it is). Additionally, my brother has owned multiple Xboxes.I can state with confidence that one console maker over the years, Nintendo, has struck the right mix between enjoyment, playability, multi-player experience, and wide player base. For starters, the business has existed since the earliest days of gaming as we know it. Atari is missing. Anyone eagerly anticipating Sega's upcoming console? Really, they're launching a Kickstarter campaign?The top three systems right now are the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Wii U, and they all sell for roughly the same amount. I'd anticipate the pricing to be a little lower given that the Wii U launched a year sooner than the other two, but it is what it is. I'm going to suppose that if you're reading this, you're attempting to choose between one of those three systems rather than deciding whether you want the U with Mario Kart 8 or the one with Luigi U. So I'll do my best to compare those systems.To begin with, the PS4 and Xbox One both have a decent number (if not a lot) more titles than the Wii U. Quality always comes first, though, and the Wii U has access to many of the same high-caliber games that are available on the Xbox One and PlayStation 4. Being a year older, I always find it strange when people compare the U to the Xbox One or PlayStation 4 in YouTube comparison videos. The fact is, the quality of the graphics is usually where there is the greatest contrast. Check out this side-by-side comparison of Assassin's Creed 4. The texturing has improved, but not absurdly so. The sea and sky now have a slightly prettier appearance, but not enough to affect the gameplay as a whole. Who therefore had the upper hand in the games that were made for all three consoles? That all depends, I suppose. Buy a PS4 or Xbox1 if online multiplayer is your only concern. Why? due to the thousands, as opposed to millions, of additional players of these systems online. But if you don't only play online, here's something to think about with the Wii U. A controller with an integrated screen is included with the U. This screen has been utilized by many games for maps, item selection, and pretty much anything else that can improve gameplay over a simple controller.However, there are three areas where the Wii U excels:The first console to use motion controllers on its platform was the original Wii. When bowling or serving an ace in tennis, players practically felt the ball release. The Wii U expands on the idea introduced by the Wii. With a wheel, Mario Kart 8 almost seems like you're in control of the vehicle. You can play it with a simple controller, sure, but it won't be the same. With regard to motion-controlled video games, no other business has even come close to matching Nintendo's success. It's so close to being their sole territory.Second, the Wii U shines at multiplayer games with several players. I'm not talking about online; I'm referring to cooperative/competitive multi-player activities that involve everyone, such as "sitting next to you on the couch, garbage talking, high fiving, drink pouring, and cat scaring." Who would have thought that humans could coexist on a 72 "sharing cheese curls, oxygen, and lcd gameland? Without a doubt, Wii U offers the most enjoyable large-group multiplayer in-room gaming experience of any system, if not the only one. Here, I'll accept 5 or more players. There are numerous Wii U games that may be played by large groups of players. I can vouch for that; we've had ten players in one game (caveat: onviously not everyone had a controller, but it was still awesome). Who controls the "let's get a bunch together and have some fun" games and the "alone in my parents basement with my 'online' buddies" games when you look at the titles available for the top three consoles? Additionally, I don't disparage online single-player FPS games... Oh, I guess I am. My brother has been spotted spending 6–8 hours nonstop playing video games with "friends" he has never met. Come on, men. Put on some sunscreen, head outside, and occasionally join the rest of us earthlings. Okay, I'll stop my tirade now. So, this is a simple decision. "Do I enjoy playing online games alone or with others?Finally, I believe Nintedo offers the widest selection of gaming genres. Again, the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 have a ton more titles, but they're mostly First Person Shooter games (for grandma or aunt sue who's trying to purchase little Tommy a game system, that's First Person Shooter). Which of the following do I want to shoot: Krauts, Japanese, current humans, ancient humans, vampires (once human), zombies (dead humans), or just some aliens? The tools, techniques, and means of assassination are simply astounding. Hey, not that I don't like a good lynching, scalping, disembowling, or throat-slicing once in a while... Who doesn't, after all? Right? But who doesn't want to play a little Mario when you're not in the mood to play that kind of game with mom and want something a little more sanitized for the kids? The Nintendo Wii U does, in fact, offer some face-stabbing, sniper-shooting games (many of the most well-known titles, such as Call of Duty), but they also provide something that appears to be sorely lacking in the other two major consoles: games that families and kids can genuinely play together. Games like Super Smash Bros., Wii Sports, Mario Kart 8, Nintendoland (which is basically a collection of games), all the Mario games, etc. In actuality, a large number of the Wii U's best games are Nintendo-only titles. Nothing, NOTHING, compares to Mario Kart. Other programmers simply don't bother. When was the last time you saw a 70-year-old, a 25-year-old, and a 14-year-old playing a video game together? One thing is certain: it wasn't Black Ops II on the PlayStation 4. My mum even recently remarked on how much she enjoyed bowling on the Wii. Laugh all you want, but the Wii is the only gaming console with such a wide user base.Sadly, the top gaming systems of today and the games they offer are only a mirror of our culture. You'll appreciate the Wii U for what it is and what it does if, like me, you grew up in a close-knit gaming (cards, boards, etc.) household. This is not the best single player online gaming experience if that's what you're for. In any case, I admire Nintendo for creating a gaming system that aims to unite people/families and partake in the gaming experience rather than just aiming to increase the value of the company so the CFO can purchase a new Porsche.Finally, I'll say something that most people probably won't even care to hear. If you live to be 105 and everyone you know and loved has passed away, sometime. What will you be considering each night before you go to sleep? Killing an entire team in Halo (Kill Tac) or sharing a memory while laughing with your parents. You can purchase a Wii U, a PS4, or nothing at all. Simply create some memories. Relationships make up life, and life is brief.

Amazingly and positively astonished!!!! For my daughter, who is eleven years old, I purchased this gaming system as a Christmas present. She has been desiring this system for a while now. Excellent delivery was made. I placed my order on November 1st, and it was supposed to come on November 8th, however it did so earlier (it arrived today which is the 3rd of november). I took it out of the box as soon as I realized it was being sold as a renewed or refurbished item and gave it a go. It played like new and was simple to set up. Amazing graphics are used. It received a quick play/test from my kid. She is utterly smitten. I am overjoyed that I bought this. Message: I went back to make a second purchase because I wanted to get one for my son, who is 31 years old, but regrettably there was a note that said "Currently Unavailable." I'm very grateful that at least one was obtained.

I adore the product and look forward to utilizing it when all the components are in place for it to function properly. Unfortunately, there is no information indicating that you need to buy more controllers if you want to play the sports game in the product's Amazon description, which is rather ambiguous. The experience with the game pad is unsatisfactory. Additionally, nothing informs you that extra controllers require a motion sensor, which some supplementary controls do not include and must be purchased separately. We were able to locate what we believed to be the appropriate controllers at Wal Mart, however the motion sensors were not included and the packaging was very deceptive. On a second visit, it was revealed that Wally's did not have the sensors in stock. We would have bought these parts if we had realized we needed them and seen them on Amazon. Although we did order a second controller from Amazon at the time of purchase, we are still unsure of whether it will come with the necessary motion sensor or not. It has not yet arrived and is being offered by a different party. As a result, the kid's bowling tournament at our birthday party won't take place because the game is broken due to a lack of parts. When purchasing the system and the Sports Pak of games that Nintendo sells, it should be clarified why additional controls and sensors are required. Very un-Amazon-like and disappointing.

The Wii U, ah. You are very underappreciated. I already know what the majority will say: acquire a Switch because the Wii U is no longer supported. But more on it will come in a moment. Let's start by discussing the console itself.Since the Wii U is Nintendo's first HD console, those that require HD content can now do so; (though graphical quality in games never bothered me much). The Wii U also supports classic composite output, meaning it will work on any TV, including older models and HDTVs. Even a DVD player with compatible ports, a laptop, or a computer using a capture card can use it.There are many different games on the system. Even while I'd say Nintendo's games are still more expensive than those for other platforms (like the PS3), there's a valid reason for it. The majority of their games are excellent. In addition to the high quality of the games, there are a ton of them to choose from because in addition to Wii U games, there are also many Virtual Console games for the N64, NES, SNES, GBA, DS, and a few Wii games available in the E Shop (which can be cheaper then buying the original Wii disks). Indie games are also available if you prefer them.The Wii is also integrated into it, allowing you to play all of your Wii games on it directly from the disk via the Wii Menu. Of course, this creates even more possibilities. The best feature of this is that you can play any Wii game, even split-screen, using just the gamepad with your television turned off by using the option to display all Wii games on both the gamepad and the television (essentially making it a psuedo Switch).Many of you are saying, "This is all well and good, but we already have this stuff, so why buy this when we can have Switch," and I get why. While it's true that many Wii U games have been ported to the Switch and while it's POSSIBLE that the Wii U's FREE online multiplayer capabilities COULD be discontinued, there aren't many online Wii U games available right now, and the console is still a good buy in and of itself, depending on what you're looking for.Even if the Wii U's E Shop shuts down and there is no longer any support for this console, which is highly improbable, I would still recommend buying it.Because they are Wii U ports, not only can you currently play the majority of Switch games on Wii U, but there are several Wii U-exclusive experiences that aren't available on Switch. Mario Maker and Splatoon can still be enjoyed even IF Nintendo discontinues all support; (albeit Splatoon will be limited to Single Player Campaign, Amiibo challenges, and Battle Dojo, and Mario Mario would be limited to creating levels yourself or playing the built-in levels, but both would still be enjoyable), and off-TV play is supported in a lot of games, allowing you to play on the gamepad itself.For the price of the Switch ($300), I was able to purchase a Wii U console from Amazon Warehouse, an ethernet adaptor for it, and a number of games. In contrast, if I had purchased a Switch instead, I would have only received one game, and that's assuming I had spent an additional $60 on top of the initial $300.While the Playstation 2, Sega Genesis, and Nintendo 64 are also allegedly "dead," you don't hear as many people criticize those systems as you do the Wii U, do you? In spite of its marketing failure, I would still suggest the Wii U to anyone searching for a versatile local multiplayer system with a wide selection of games.

Although Nintendo stopped producing the Wii U five years ago, I still recommend it because it is great for playing games. Multiplayer games occasionally disconnect, though there is no issue with my internet connection, but I have heard that Nintendo is not the best when it comes to online play because, although I haven't owned a Wii, I have heard that the Wii also has poor online play, or it may be because this is a refurbished model.

Completely true. played it every day after receiving it. Mario Kart 8 is fantastic, perfect for gatherings, and simple for new players to pick up.There are around three hours' worth of downloads, installs, and updates that you must go through before you can start playing, which is something I wish I had known before placing my order. Although it wouldn't have prevented me from purchasing it, the initial few days were undoubtedly quite frustrating. To actually get the most out of the system, you also need to have numerous distinct types of controllers.
You cannot use a PS4 controller on a Wii U. The Wii U uses a different control scheme than the PS4, so the controller would not be compatible.
