NVIDIA SHIELD TV Stand Review:

I can't help but feel ripped off considering that I paid $20 for a base that either ought to have came with the shield or maybe the shield case should have been designed so that it didn't require a separate stand. It may be a severe issue given that the Shield cannot effectively exhaust heat without it. Although it was less expensive than The Shield, my Fire TV game version probably had a shorter lifespan because it could get fairly hot. When it recently stopped operating, I still thought it was a loss. HOWEVER, this is a high-quality device, just like The Shield's other components are. It is presented and built extremely well. It is substantial and perfectly fits my shield device. It sort of flops around on top of my Blu-ray player without this stand to hold it upright so it can stand and cool correctly, therefore I feel it is absolutely necessary if you own the device it fits. Another method could be devised by a super handyperson, but it would lack the shield device's sophisticated good looks. Finally, it appears to be weighted to allow for a proper posture. All things considered, it is probably a good deal just as crucial to your shield device, which is another explanation it ought to be included. No of how you feel about it, if you have a non-pro model shield, you need to get one of these.

NVIDIA SHIELD Controller (2015) Review:

I got my Nvidia Shield Wireless controller from Amazon today. It was sent quickly by Amazon, which I appreciate. It arrived with a Shield USB to Mini USB connection and was wrapped neatly. I was a little bummed that it didn't come with another wall charger, but at least the cable was included. The controller feels comfy in my hands and weights about the same as a PS3 controller, according to my testing. It synchronized with the Shield Tablet instantly and with ease. The response is excellent, and the buttons and triggers feel fantastic. benefited greatly from the quickness and minimal latency of Super Hexagon. And if you are familiar with Super Hexagon, you are aware of how crucial a quick and precise input device may be.The controller also contains touch controls for home, back, and play at the top, as well as an Nvidia button that launches the Shield hub immediately. The volume controls underneath the joysticks are convenient, but they can be difficult to use at first and require practice; otherwise, the game will mute itself. The controller has a headphone jack in addition to a micro USB connector for charging, which is a pretty pleasant touch. Additionally, I haven't gotten a chance to use the microphone yet, but it does have one.The touchpad's poor tracking performance is my lone issue, which is brought on by its low tracking sensitivity and constrained track area. Additionally, the surface isn't slippery enough to prevent my thumb from moving unevenly because of friction.Overall, this controller is much better than trying to utilize a PS3/4 controller. The battery life appears to be excellent, but I won't know for a while. After more testing, I'll update this evaluation.Do yourself a favor and buy this controller if you're contemplating a controller for the Shield tablet and want to play games or emulators. Your gameplay will become simpler and more fun as a result. Definitely worth the cost.

NVIDIA SHIELD (2015) Review:

Love, love, love this gadget! The most potent Droid TV/media box I've ever bought, without a doubt. Family and wife both adore it. Compared to the cheaper 99 dollar boxes, it is worth the extra 99 dollars. It surpasses my Gbox Q. (although it does have the full google play store). The user interface is incredibly responsive and smooth, and programs load quite quickly. The Google Play Store does not have all the features you would find on your phone, and there are several games I would love to play on the big screen but am unable to due to this limitation. Additionally, they would need to be set up to function with the controller, and even if they had access to the entire Play Store, that wouldn't help because the games are only made for touch screens.Buyers should beware since merchants are exploiting them with exorbitant rates for secondhand goods as Nvidia phases out this first generation model in advance of the arrival of the second. Check your neighborhood electronics store or wait for the new model if you wish to purchase one.Good fortune.

NVIDIA SHIELD TV | Streaming Media Player with Remote & Game Controller (Renewed) Review:

When nothing worked at first, I assumed everything was broken. I eventually understood that I needed to configure everything. It's lovely and I'm almost there.

NVIDIA SHIELD TV Gaming Edition | 4K HDR Streaming Media Player with GeForce NOW Review:

I recently acquired the SHIELD TV model of the Nvidia Shield, not the PRO.What is inside the box?Remote control power adapter charging cable for the NVIDIA SHIELD TV (for controller)What does the box lack?Although this is a bit inconvenient, most people have a spare HDMI cable lying around.Initial impressions of build quality: 4/5 The unit doesn't feel very solid; it feels rather light and fragile. I like handling the gamepad and remote since they both feel excellent in my hands. Just be careful not to drop it. The build quality is sufficient for what it is.Starting off: 4.5/5You must set up the unit with your Google account before you can use it. Either the controller or an Android smartphone or tablet can be used for this. The latter, for me, did not work. On my phone, I got a message saying that something went wrong and the setup was terminated. The on-screen setup is rather straightforward, so no major deal. After configuration, the device will download a sizable (1.07GB) software package before requesting a restart. The SHIELD will bring you to its home screen when you restart it.Input/output: 5.0The main interface is lightning-fast and immaculate. The conventional tile arrangement is used for app layout, and menus are relatively simple to use.Test of HDR: 4.5The HDR support it provides over other boxes is one of the main reasons I bought this. My initial action was to get into my Amazon Prime Instant Video account and launch a "Mozart in the Jungle" episode. As soon as the video started, the TV's settings changed to HDR, and I was ready to go.Amazon: HDR functions.HDR on YouTube isn't working: When playing "The World in HDR," the TV won't switch to the HDR settings.Netflix: 1/16/2016 Update: HDR is now functional. For HDR to function, you must upgrade the Netflix app using the "Google Play Store" button on the main dashboard.3.5/5 internal storageInternal storage in the base edition is 16GB, but after allocation, it is actually just 11GB. If this will meet my needs, only time will tell. It should be noted that the PRO version is the only one with a Micro SD slot; the standard version does not have one. I was able to attach a 128GB USB flash drive to it and use it as extra internal storage.4.5/5 for gamingA few Android games that I had previously purchased from the Google Play Store were tested. I enjoyed playing Goat Simulator and Final Fantasy. Both games have controls set up to simulate using a console, and this works nicely on the SHIELD. Since I don't currently have access to any content, I haven't tried any form of game streaming.5/5 for game emulationI tested a few different emulators because I've been asked a couple questions about emulation and gamepad input lag. I have so far tested NES.Emu, MD.Emu, Snes9x , ePSXe, and MUPEN64. The NVIDIA Gamepad was automatically mapped to the relevant buttons in each case by the program. On the N64 Emu, all of the games I tested played without any noticeable lag, even with the settings at their highest. The gamepad's input lag was nonexistent, and everything felt quite responsive. People who are particularly sensitive to input lag could experience it differently; YMMV.Gaming pad: 4.5/5The game pad is nearly the same size as my XBOX ONE S controller and has a button arrangement that is somewhat more similar to a Sony DUALSHOCK controller, with the D-Pad being located above the left stick. If you want to use the gaming pad, I advise plugging it in and charging it after unwrapping because it does not arrive with a completely charged battery.Distant 4/5The remote does not utilize conventional AA/AAA batteries and cannot be recharged. Instead, it makes use of two "CR 2032" flat cells, which are said to last for about a year. The little button on the bottom of the remote must be pressed with a fine point object (pen, etc.) in order to remove the battery tray for replacement.NEWS 1/21/2017: My remote is now entirely useless, much like many of the other reviewers. At first, I didn't notice any problems with it, but lately, it either responds slowly or not at all. Hopefully, software upgrades will be able to fix this; if not, NVIDIA will have to replace every remote. My remote version right now is 1.03.

NVIDIA SHIELD Portable Review:

In a nutshell, this is it. The portable Android gaming device Nvidia SHIELD has the ability to REMOTELY GAMESTREAM using the capabilities of your desktop and display the video to your SHIELD.Anyway, let me just introduce myself and explain why I am so enthusiastic about the SHIELD. I bought it so I could play games at home and at my friend's house and at school. I put a lot of effort into overclocking, optimizing, and pushing my mid-range gaming desktop—an i7-4770k @ 4.7GHz, Vengeance 16GB 1866, and GTX760 with SLI upgrade capability—to its absolute limit. Importantly, I do not want to spend more money on a gaming laptop that is expensive for its capabilities. For school and a part-time employment, I primarily use a chromebook and a linux laptop. I would look like an idiot hauling around three laptops if I were to purchase a gaming laptop. SHIELD thus becomes a gaming device that I simply must own. Here are some justifications for why SHIELD ought to be your primary gaming system if you're interested in it.1. To get the most out of SHIELD, you have a mid-tier or better gaming PC that satisfies the gamestream requirement.GeForce GTX 650 or higher for desktop computers, orGeForce GTX 800M, GTX 700M, and certain GTX 600M GPUs for notebooks (Beta) CPU: AMD Athlon II X4 630 or Intel Core i3-2100, 3.1 GHz or faster > a system with 4 GB or more of memory. Software: the most recent GeForce drivers and the GeForce Experience(tm) program Windows 8 or Windows 7 as the OS 802.11a/g wireless router (minimum). Dual-band 802.11n router (recommended).2. You spend the most of your time on the move when at work, school, or other locations with good wifi.3. You would rather to spend time with loved ones in the living room, watching the neighbors complain about your SHIELD in the front yard, or enjoying the sun in the backyard rather than in your game room.4. You desire the most sensual, exotic, and erotic pooping experience possible. Now I want to expound on the previously mentioned reasons. Hardware-wise, SHIELD boasts a strong processor that can compete with tablets priced between $60 and $900. The bomb is the 5-inch 720p multi-touch IPS panel retinal display. Sure, the 1080p on your S4 makes things appear amazing. However, that experience has not been diminished by SHIELD's 720p. Given that you will be using it as a handheld controller, it seems sense that it will be termed retina when viewed from a distance of one foot away (retina being the point at which you cannot see the pixels on the screen). The graphics are stunning in every game I stream, including Bioshock Infinite, Bioshock 2, Devil May Cry 4, Borderlands, Batman: Arkham Asylum, City, Origin, Half-Life 2, Civilization V, Left 4 Dead 2, and Warframe. Also, I have the option of switching my SHIELD to console mode. In console mode, I attach the Xbox 360 for Windows via USB OTG to the SHIELD's micro USB port and the TV through micro-HDMI. I then use an Xbox 360 or Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to play League of Legends or DOTA 2 while gamestreaming all supported Steam games to my TV at 1080p @ 60 FPS (verified the frame rate). Yes, you can use a Bluetooth keyboard and mouse to play DotA 2 and LoL on the SHIELD. So far, the experience hasn't been that horrible.I don't have a router either. I don't have that 5.0 Ghz dual simul-blabla router, that's for sure. Despite my lousy AT

NVIDIA SHIELD Controller - Android Review:

Actually, the Shield Controller is currently in its third iteration, as far as I'm aware (not including the one that is intrinsic to the original Nvidia Shield).Hardware from earlier generations is identical, with the exception of the capacitive Back/Home/PlayPause buttons. You must take into account the previous controller hardware in order to fully comprehend this review. It was huge but not uncomfortable, packed with features, including a touch screen, a massive volume rocker switch, and a 3.5mm headset/mic connector. It also had a microUSB port for charging. Only the kitchen sink was missing. Such adaptability required a larger gamepad than usual.Despite its size, it was really fairly pleasant to grip, and everything seemed to be "on par" even if it used the (in my opinion) slightly subpar PlayStation stick setup. The face buttons had plenty of travel, and the shoulder triggers were sufficiently tactile. The DPad required a lot of work, as do many Dpads today. The capacitive buttons' placement made them susceptible to accidental presses, and the touchpad was worthless.Version 2 now. The larger triggers are slightly mushier but still tactile, feel considerably more substantial (read: strong) in the hand, and are MUCH more ergonomic to grasp. Both the DPad and face button travel are much more responsive. It offers a pleasing clicky feedback and isn't as mushy. Despite being different, the sticks appear to remain largely unchanged. But it's much more comfortable and simple to get to them. The bottom of the device now houses the headphone jack. The touchpad is gone, which is a sacrifice I'm ready to make. Good riddance! The capacitive rocker, which resembles the NVidia Shield Remote, has taken the role of the inadequate volume rocker switches and performs admirably. The formerly capacitive Back, Home, and PlayPause buttons are now hard, satisfyingly haptic, and separated from the other buttons and sticks on the bottom edge. Mis-presses won't be a problem moving forward, in my opinion. It depends on how you feel about the appearance, but it is certainly more comfortable in your hand. The one thing that worries me is that it seems to operate on Bluetooth, which has historically lagged more than 2.4GHz wifi in my experience. I might be off in this.Time will tell, however, whether the lag disparity will result in more deaths in Dark Souls 3. But for the time being, I am thrilled with a purchase that I must admit I was initially uncertain about. For PC, Nvidia Shield K1, and Nvidia Shield TV, highly recommended. Already considering obtaining a second. The pros include: * Significantly enhanced ergonomics; * The best D-Pad available outside of the Nintendo Switch Pro Controller; * Better volume adjustment; * Physical Buttons for Android OS operations.* Extended Battery Life * Rumbling CapabilityCons: * No touchpad (is this truly a con? Using Bluetooth instead of WiFi direct should result in increased latency.* You must purchase it (I'm pushing a bit here)

NVIDIA SHIELD Custom Armor-Glossy Black Review:

Having owned both the carbon fibre tag and this one, I certainly prefer this one over it. It's shiny and yeah, it attracts fingerprints, but man is it lovely to look at. This is a really nice tag that complements the shield portable very well. more than the carbon fibre alternative, gives the shield portable a stealthy appearance. Great purchase all around, even though it just improves the shield's aesthetics superficially.
