Yes, you can lock the tailgate on a Silverado. There is a switch on the tailgate handle that will allow you to lock the tailgate. This is a useful feature if you are carrying something in the bed of the truck that you don't want to fall out.

I installed this tailgate assist on my truck because I'm sick of seeing my staff allow the gate to close completely. This little one substantially reduces wear and tear and perfectly fits my pickup. Just keep in mind that it is model-specific, so be sure to get the one that comes with the right mounting hardware for your truck.

For my 2007 Silvy 1500 Classic, I purchased this (with a tonneau). Works good but has a more industrial look. In essence, it's a sophisticated mechanism to stop the handle from opening when it's "locked"; when it's unlocked, all you have to do is pull the handle to get it to open. A persistent punk with a crowbar or other tool won't be deterred by this; he'll eventually succeed. If you have a bed cover, it's designed to give you some peace of mind and prevent a hasty grab of your belongings—or worse, your entire TAILGATE!FOR MY APPLICATION, the entire installation process took me around 20 minutes. I had to take the interior of the tailgate's black plastic covering off. After removing the liner, I reinstalled one of the two 13mm bolts to keep the lock assembly in place while I inserted this unit (took less than 3 seconds), then I secured it with the security screw that came with it. Remove the 13mm bolt, reinstall the black liner, and secure it with ALL OF THE LINER'S SNAPS.NOTE: I got rid of the POP

Contrary to what the car compatibility checker claims, this device is completely compatible with a 2017 Toyota Tacoma. My double cab short bed TRD Off Road runs flawlessly. Observations on the installation:I concur with other reviewers who claim that if you're putting this item in a Tacoma, the instructions are wrong. To remove/tighten the tailgate nuts, you will need a GOOD T27 Torx Bit (not a cheap one from certain freight businesses located near a harbor). Because they are screwed into plastic, the threads are readily damaged. At least three of the bolts were used for this.It requires some work to wire the tailgate assembly to the truck's undercarriage. You'll need to remove two rectangular pieces of plastic and find out how to make room for both the P

This precisely matched a 2008 Prius. The previous cover must be removed through laborious means. The original screws are hard to access and prone to stripping. I had to remove the plastic internal cover. The plastic trim pops off, but removing tools (like this one from Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CGFPW64) make it much easier to put it back on. As a result, you can remove the outside assembly that holds the hatch switch by exposing a different set of screws. Although it's simple to reach these screws, you also require a DEEP 10mm socket wrench. The screws stick out quite a ways, so it must be deep. A Phillips screwdriver finally completes the task. I removed the old cover and then used acetone, a rag, q-tips, and toothpicks to clear off the sticky plastic residue. max. 30–45 min. The screws that came with this cover were replaced, and they are of higher quality. I discovered a few washers used to create a waterproof seal were harmed when replacing the external cover. I then made some replacements from a sheet of 1/16" neoprene foam rubber that my children had used for crafts (similar to these, but available by the sheet at craft stores: https://www.amazon.com/Foam-Sheets-1-5mm-Pkg-Primary-Assortment/dp/B007P55XYG/). Essentially the same material is used. Days later, I'm still pleased with the outcome.

The install is the focus of this review rather than the product's worth, functionality, or lifespan. mounted on a 2003 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup vehicle. It shouldn't take you longer than 10 minutes to install this device, assuming you have the necessary equipment on hand and a basic understanding of mechanical principles. For the tailgate inner panel fasteners, I also had a drill to utilize with my Torx T30 bit, which made the process a little easier. It becomes a simple task when an 8 MM socket is added for use on the two nuts holding the latch on. Lubricate the fittings and moving parts when you are within the tailgate's interior. In addition, if the tailgate straps are outdated, replace them now rather than waiting for them to break.Your fingers will now bump into the lock, which was the entire reason I bought the device, but else it seems to work just like the old. That new normal doesn't bother me in the least.Only time will tell how long it will last, but it would be a good idea to keep the lock lubricated, especially in cold temperatures.

I viewed YouTube tutorials on how to set it up.But unlike the others, mine was unique.I had believed that my tailgate was only secured by two bolts, however there was actually a third one hidden beneath the liner tailgate cover. The handle cover is held in place by this third bolt, which is also secured by three metal tabs (see pics)I had to take the tailgate liner off, which took me approximately 30 minutes.1. Identify the three bolts holding it together; the bottom bolt secures the cover.2. Pull it off using a thin claw bar.Once you've done it, you'll realize that replacing it is simple.

decent pricing. as promised. Several reviews I read mentioned issues with the plastic "clips" breaking during installation. I didn't experience this issue. I specifically got this one since it had the adhesive foam, which is a need. These bezels' design isn't great (GM is to blame, not the seller), and they all eventually break. This replacement is both affordable and well-fitting.Edit 9/24/17 - Even after traveling to numerous job sites and the high country for almost a year, this remains in excellent condition. I intended to add some information... A 2012 Ford F-150 with a 3.5 Ecoboost is mine. As stated, this product would not fit. It wouldn't fit even without the "ford" cup. Without the cup, you could tighten it all the way down and it was extremely loose because it was way too big with the cup and wouldn't fit otherwise. I solved the problem by subtracting roughly 1/2", and the item now fits nicely without the cup.My initial post is here:Oh my God! I very recently purchased this item a few days ago. I caught it since I was traveling to a "dark" location. a location where there are a lot of bad people living around. On my first day here, I... In a restaurant, I was. I had my car parked in front of the eatery so I could keep an eye on it. I spent around five minutes inside. Even my soda wasn't in yet! Bruffahs started to circle around my truck. To the tailgate one went. For the following few seconds, I was unable to observe what was happening. I was about to approach them outside the door. They dispersed like roaches when they heard me scream. When I approached the truck, the tailgate was wide open. Obviously, this worked! Oh my GOD! The timing is unbelievable to me! It had just been on my car for a few hours! I only bought it because I have a buddy who does because she lives there. He discussed how frequently trucks like mine have their tailgates stolen. Even though I thought he was exaggerating, I nonetheless bought the item. Since it wasn't expensive, I reasoned that I wouldn't lose much money if it didn't work. Well, that absolutely did work! I'm not sure if they would have been able to salvage my tailgate if they had more time, but Mr. Glock and I managed to persuade them to flee quickly. My tailgate was saved by this item! I don't really care about my tailgate, but I just don't want to deal with the inconvenience of insurance. And yes, this is the longest review I've ever left on Amazon. It's because I should spend more time on this item.

The PL5400 tailgate lock installation is now complete. Even the coding of the lock with my truck key went without a hitch. I adhered to the directions exactly, with the exception of one step. The left driver's side latch rod must be flipped end to end to allow for the lock assembly, according to step #3. Without the flipping latch rod, the handle assembly would function, but this could result in premature failure. For a few reasons, I chose not to flip the rod. As long as you gently bend the rod to give it some clearance so it won't rub against the lock assembly, several other customers claimed it is not essential. Additionally, if I flipped it, I would be unable to use the rod support clip. It is clear why Toyota placed that clip there. Just enough bending was done to allow for full range of motion and daylight. In addition, I put synthetic oil before fitting the lock assembly on all the elements that made contact with one another, as well as on the left and right latch rods where they passed through the support clips. On the remaining inside components that I couldn't reach with the synthetic oil, I used spray lithium grease. If anything horrible occurs, I'll make sure to update. It's fantastic to have no news.UPDATE Let me dispel any misunderstandings and misconceptions regarding this product's 1-year warranty. The warranty will be handled by Amazon. I spoke with them, and this is how things operate. When an item fails inside the first 30 days, Amazon's usual 30-day policy kicks in, and after they receive the broken item back, they will either send you a replacement or refund your money. They will just return your money if it doesn't work after more than 30 days but not more than a year.UPDATE. I recently received a response to the email I submitted to the manufacturer on March 27th regarding the unfavorable reviews of this product. They respond with this.We appreciate you buying Pop and Lock recently. On the basis of client feedback, we modified our handle almost two years ago. We changed from using plastic to utilizing glass-filled nylon, which is extremely similar to the material used on the OEM handle, for the handle instead of using ABS plastic. Our handle is now significantly more sturdy thanks to this improved material. Additionally, we have updated several parts, including our metal work, which improves the overall operation of our product. Please be aware that we only offer a one-year guarantee with evidence of purchase, and that Amazon is responsible for providing a documented warranty for any products sold there. The same guarantee will still apply to your product; it will just be administered by them.Let me know if you have any more questions.Pam

Ford Tailgate-Liftgate Striker Bushing Kit (38424)
$234
In order to be clear, these are bushings for the two sizable striker bolts that are situated on either side of the tail lights, which are only visible when the liftgate is open. My 1995 Explorer was a wonderful fit for the two longer bushings. The other two brief ones given might work with newer models. This is a five-minute fix if you have the right size torx socket, which you can find at any parts store. To make it easier to access the inside receiver nut while screwing the tail light assemblies back in after removing and replacing the bushing, you might need to remove each tail light assembly. On my model, doing this involved taking out two screws from the assembly's top and carefully popping it out. Once more, writing this review took longer than actually finishing the task.
While it's not the most common crime, people do steal tailgates. Sometimes it's because they need a replacement for their own damaged tailgate. Other times, it's because tailgates are valuable and can be sold for a good price. Either way, it's important to be aware that this crime does happen and to take steps to protect your tailgate.
Tailgates are often stolen off of trucks in the Tacoma, WA area. This is likely because Tacoma is home to many college students and young adults who are looking for ways to party and drink before football games. While some people may see this as harmless fun, it can actually be quite costly and dangerous. Tailgates can cost hundreds of dollars to replace, and they can also be used as weapons. In addition, stealing a tailgate is a felony in Washington State. If you are caught stealing a tailgate, you could face up to 5 years in
Ford f150 tailgate lock is an important security feature for your truck. It helps to prevent thieves from stealing your tailgate, and it also keeps your tailgate from being accidentally opened. The tailgate lock is located on the inside of the tailgate, and it is operated by a key.
Yes, the RAM multifunction tailgate lock does provide additional security for your belongings. This is especially useful if you have valuables in the back of your truck that you don't want to leave unsecured. The tailgate lock will prevent would-be thieves from easily gaining access to your things.
If you're looking for a way to secure your belongings while tailgating, you might be wondering if Tacoma tailgate lock is a good option. While this product can provide some security, it's important to keep in mind that it's not a foolproof solution. thieves can still break into your vehicle if they're determined enough. However, if you're looking for an extra layer of protection, Tacoma tailgate lock can be a good choice.
As of right now, it is unclear if the 2022 Ram tailgate will lock. This is something that has yet to be announced by the company. However, it is safe to assume that the tailgate will likely lock, as most vehicles these days come with this feature. Stay tuned for more updates on this matter.
