In the interim, this allowed me to connect my 6" jointer to a small ShopVac and pull all of the descending chips into a 20 gallon Brute garbage can. My next significant shop purchase will be a full-sized dust collector. Between my ShopVac's 4" to 2-1/2 reducer and the can outlet, as well as from the can to the tool's dust port, there are around 10' of 4" clear flex. There isn't enough airflow to draw chips from the top of the table down, although clogging at the tool dust vent is not a problem. I only end up with the fine dust in the ShopVac and no chips. Amazing and far preferable to letting that jointer scatter dust and chip fragments everywhere!

It goes without saying that using this cowl requires some engineering, but it suited my needs for dust collecting when sanding on the lathe. I've never seen anyone utilize the deflection guard that comes with the Jet 1642 lathe, but it provides a reliable mounting foundation for this hood. I left the remaining six inches of a 16" long piece of 3" X 3" maple square and turned the remaining six inches round to fit in the guard mounting base hole. This then allowed the hood to be supported in the right place and moved within four inches of the section being sanded with the help of some further engineering. Since sanding tends to be the most challenging and the majority of turning materials are simple to clean up with a dust pan, I just use it during sanding. It collects 95% of my Grizzly Cyclone Dust Collector's (G0703) sanding dust along with it. It is a low-cost way to safeguard your lungs.

This is just terrible. just like I want it to.This is suspended from the ceiling of my store. I enter and set it for a time based on how long I intend to work, leaving a window of at least two hours to continue running after I leave. When I come back the next time, I will see that the latent dust in my shop has dramatically decreased. I had bought a less expensive model (you know the one. They produce it with various logos for around a dozen different businesses.) The air stream above was not really obvious unless you were standing very close to it right out of the box while it was resting on a table. This one, set to medium, blows a stream far enough to move the shop vac hoses that I have pegged to the wall of my shop, which is about 10 feet distant. What you want is that: a blower with sufficient force to propel the purified air into the shop area and maintain the dust suspended until it loops back to the filter's collecting area. It's a tiny hurricane from above. Hang it from the ceiling with the exhaust side away from the door so that it will draw in foul air rather than blow dust in the direction of the door.The cost of the new filters is the only thing I have to complain about. However, Filtrete filters are roughly a third of the cost and fit into the frame very tightly. Every few uses, I take my shop vac and vacuum the exterior filter to attempt and remove the cake that has accumulated and gain better performance in order to extend the life.Be careful while purchasing an air filtering system. Don't skimp on something this crucial after deciding that your lungs need to be protected. Get a quality one.

I believe this to be the finest value. I didn't want a monstrous machine that would use a lot of current (I have a restricted amount of current in my basement) trying to collect every single particle of dust. I also didn't want to deal with a shop vac's troubles (and noise). This appears to be a decent middle ground.Pros: It arrived in good condition. There were some loose components, but they were plastic, and everything seemed to be packaged rather nicely. Everything was there, plus one additional caster. For assembly, it comes with a wrench and hex key. A #2 and #1 Phillips head screwdriver is required.Compared to a shop-vac, it is relatively quiet. It might be used on a 15-20A circuit because it uses roughly 8 A @ 120V (running, no load); just turn it on before the other device (the motor probably draws more when it first starts).It is simple to move about.I can't tell you how well the hose works because I don't yet have it. I'm not too worried, based on the airflow."Middles": When you remove the base, it appears to be frail, but after it is fastened to the motor, it helps strengthen it up. When I move it, I can feel it flex a little. It seems adequate to me.Because it is high, the power cable is only 6 feet long and has a gauge that seems a little thin, but it is adequate for the length. I was concerned that it would overwork the base.Without a trick, it is impossible to put the plastic bag on. I tried using magnets, as one reviewer suggested, but mine weren't that powerful, and the curves made them impossible to grip. Here is my ruse: I "hemmed" it (just like the top bag) by folding it over by 1.5 inches and taping it in place. You need ways to enter and exit with the band clamp, so avoid covering everything with tape. It went smoothly.

The Dewalt DWE402 grinder can use this shroud, despite what other reviews claim. The product's compatibility with all grinders starting with models DWE4 and D28 is expressly stated on the packaging. It can be difficult to attach this to the grinder until you realize that you need to spin it precisely so the retaining ridges fit into grooves on the grinder collar. Once you've done that, you can turn it in that direction. When properly fastened, this component is securely fastened to the grinder. Simply keeping the shroud from rotating is the purpose of the clamping screw. You are not wearing the shroud appropriately if you are using it to secure the shroud to the grinder. Another thing I learned was that in order to have the proper depth connection between the shroud and the grinding wheel, I had to get the Dewalt diamond cup grinder. I was able to level off a significant amount of self-leveling compound with little dust after doing that. I would have given this product five stars for dust collection, but I deducted one star due to the inadequate installation instructions and the fact that the vacuum hose connector does not fit a regular hose.

I put off buying this item for a very long time, largely because I thought the cost was too exorbitant for a single piece of plastic. The DD scored highly, better than even more expensive options, according to my (endless) study. I ultimately went with the "economical" DIY approach, and I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome. I was shocked at how smoothly the DD worked after having to endure cleaning my clogged shopvac 2-3 times throughout every project. I used the new machine for a project for a number of weeks and connected it to my miter saw, router, and sander. Additionally, the area beneath the table saw was cleaned. My DD bucket contained around 6" of dust and shavings. There wasn't much inside the shopvac when I first opened it. There can be a very faint touch of micro particles. It works. The best.How I made it: It requires a container with a lid. I bought two 5-gallon pickle buckets with rubber seals that fit tightly on top. I made a platform out of plywood by cutting a piece large enough to support my shop vacuum and a pickle bucket side by side. I attached my shopvac and one pickle bucket (without a lid) to the base. I removed the wheels from an inexpensive furniture dolly I purchased from Harbor Freight and mounted them to my base. I attached the DD to the second bucket's lid. I created a gasket using gasket material, although Wal-Muerto also sells tubes of liquid gasket. Slide the DD bucket into the base unit's bucket after securing the cover on it. When you need to dump it, it will be simple to remove this method (use a mask!). Connect your hoses, turn on the shop vac, and you're done. An excellent auxiliary tool is a switching plug (SP). After connecting the SP to electricity, connect your primary tool and the shop vacuum to the SP. The SP automatically activates (and deactivates) the shop vac when you activate (and deactivate) your primary tool.
