*UPDATE**I only wanted to provide a little update on this lamp. First, the light doesn't need to burn intensely to function. I've had this lamp on for the past two days, and even though I'm just somewhat warm to the touch, I woke up with a salty aftertaste. I have asthma, and while I can't yet vouch for any advantages, I do know that I am coughing up salty phlem (sorry for the overly descriptive language), which I believe to be a positive indication. The drawback is that salt causes dehydration, so depending on where you put your lamp, you might need to drink a lot of water. I leave my lamp on high in my bedroom, which is across the room, at night. My lips and mouth tasted like salt when I woke up this morning, and I needed water right away. I want to get another one for my living room, but I need to drink more water first because I'm really struggling with this salty dehydration. I purchased three of these salt lamps and must admit that they appear to be the prettiest I have ever seen. The metal base is superior to other people's wooden bases, and they are very big. My problem is that I discovered plastic inside of mine, touching the light bulb that was almost completely burned out, as I was replacing a burnt out bulb. I looked inside all three of mine, but just one had the plastic. I advise you to examine yours as soon as you receive it.**UPDATE** Excellent customer service! I was seeking for a decent lamp with sturdy construction that was also reasonably priced. For me, the dimmable light was merely an added benefit. It turns out that I really enjoy the dimmer; it's wonderfully done! Additionally, after reading reviews of some others, I was concerned that I would receive a salt rock that was melted, had a strange shape, or anything similar. The wooden foundation of this salt lamp is firmly attached to the lamp's base. I now look forward to relaxing in the living room.
