These balls are a lot of fun, and we ordered them after witnessing other people playing with them on the beach. The illuminated balls have pretty amazing colors and are wonderful for camping in the evening when you can't do much else. They are reliable and simple to switch on and off. While initially inserting all the batteries does take some time, mine have been functioning well for some time. The bag is beautiful and practical, and there is room inside for extra batteries and the included ruler. Fun and fantastic set!Just in case it counts, I don't believe they are "official" bocce ball weight. As long as you aren't picky, it doesn't really matter.The only problem we encountered was that the switch would not stay on because one of the red balls had been struck by another ball, which must have done so precisely enough to mess with the switch. However, after emailing customer support (we have had the set for about 6 months and have played it about 5 times), they responded right away and are sending us a replacement switch even though it was past the 90-day warranty period. I believe the manner the ball was hit was an accident, and I don't foresee any further problems. The switches otherwise functioned well. Customer service was excellent and responded quickly!

I've now purchased two sets of them, so I'm updating my previous review. Because my friends were gushing about the first set, I ultimately gave them to them. I was caught off guard when I initially picked up the set because its entire weight is barely 20 lbs. Each ball has a diameter of roughly 4". The measuring string that is provided is quite useful.These are primarily used on the beach and in campgrounds, where they see extensive use from falling on stones, shells, and other debris, yet they have not developed any chips.Overall, six stars out of six. Although it can cost more than you're accustomed to for a set, in my case it was money well spent because they have kept up nicely.

Amazing set! Perfect for the lawn and back yard. When it arrived, I discovered that the bag lacks structure, which is an issue because the balls don't and can't stack neatly as in the product photographs, but instead collapse down and pull out the edges. This is in line with other reviewers' comments about the bag breaking apart. That probably puts strain on the seams. Realizing this, I tore off the top flaps of the inner box the balls arrived in and preserved it inside the bag to use as an insert. That gives the balls support and maintains them standing. We'll see if that extends the bag's lifespan. The set is undoubtedly easier to transport as a result.

Don't assume that because this is a non-regulation set it must adhere to all "official" specifications. With a focus on kids, it is made for informal games. The balls aren't liquid-filled; they are all made of solid polyethylene. My grandson, who is approaching 4 years old, had no issue hurling the ball 30 feet so he could play. After some practice, my 6-year-old granddaughter was shockingly accurate at 30 feet. With balls of the proper weight and size, there is no way they could accomplish this. This, in my opinion, is ideal for playing in a park, the backyard, or on the beach.The carrying case is mentioned in the product description. If you don't include the flimsy packaging mine came in, it didn't have a carrying case. I'm going to get a tiny bag for carrying this at some time.

Good value for the money; pleased with the purchase. I bought them for my workplace to use during lunchtime during the summer. I would absolutely purchase these for family play if I didn't already have a nicer set at home. The required minimum size for competition is 100mm (100mm to 115mm). Although 107mm and 920 grams (2.028 pounds) are regarded as the official standard size and weight, 107mm is not an option on AmazonBasics. However, these 100mm balls are a nice middle ground between 90mm and 110/115mm balls for family play, making them a good alternative to recreational (backyard) 90mm balls for smaller hands (90mm bocce balls are too small for most adults and are too susceptible to lawn imperfections). The pallino that was delivered is of the smaller variety (40-50mm), which is acceptable (50mm is the most typical size in the USA), but I would prefer a pallino that is larger (55-60mm). I prefer wood balls over resin balls when playing bocce (primarily out of nostalgia), but resin has recently gained a lot of popularity.
