This was an ordered "renewed" used item. The clear packing tape indicated that the package had been opened and resealed. However, the item is precisely what I wanted and appears to be brand-new; I don't think the player has ever been taken out of its bag or used. HDMI cable was included; it was in its original packaging and has never been opened. Great results. LAN internet connection, as well as streaming features akin to those on a "Roku" that I haven't used and don't intend to use. (I required a DVD/BlueRay disk player because I had a Roku.) possesses a digital audio output that allows the sound to be sent into a surround sound system. Update: This DVD player/streamer was purchased by me from Amazon this summer. Thus, Amazon Prime announced yesterday that it no longer supports this gadget. slick conThe old electronics are kept by me as a backup. I had two backups in case my DVD player broke. The worse it got, the further back in Sony history I went. How archaic! So I unintentionally ordered this one that had been "refreshed." The picture is fantastic, the sound is considerably better, and the streaming functions well. Wow, what a DEAL. Oh, I love the streaming controls.

My DVD player needed to be upgraded, and I wanted to be able to watch Blu-ray movies in addition to playing my old DVDs on this Blu-ray player. Although I don't currently have wi-fi, I figured it could be a good idea to have a player capable of it in the future.The customer reviews were all positive, better than any other reviews I read, and they described the player as being quiet and simple to operate, which is why I chose to buy it.#2) On normal DVDs, which is all we currently have, it is quiet and the picture and sound are excellent.#3) A power-on indication light is present.#4) I appreciated that it included everything. I didn't have to bother about looking for and purchasing the cable or a cleaning disc separately because they were both included in the package.#5 The player was very easy to set up, and the remote operated the player as soon as it was plugged in. There is no need to add code. To choose your function, click Home. It's also straightforward. If you want to operate both with your remote, the Sony instructions do contain instructions for connecting to a variety of TV brands with Sony serving as the default.#6 The player is compact, so it will fit perfectly and leave room on the shelf of my entertainment center next to my cable box. Nice.#7 The player bundle came three days earlier than expected and was well-packaged and in good condition. Additionally, the seller packaged it so that it included everything I needed to set up and maintain the player, which was a huge convenience for me. Quick Version: My main usage for this device is streaming, but I also wanted blu-ray, DVD, and CD playback in one device. It is exceptional in every task. I prefer connected connections for more consistency even if my wireless signal is good, which is another feature of this player. Overall performance is excellent, and I highly suggest the product because it offers excellent value. Specifics and a few flaws are listed below:Prior to anything else, realize that THIS IS NOT A 4K PLAYER. It employs "4K upscaling," which is useless unless you have a 4K (UHD) display, and even then, you'll still be let down. This is why: The HDMI output on the BDP-S6700 is version 1.4a, which complies with some but not all of the minimal specifications for 4K video. Color depth is very noteworthy. A maximum 8-bit color depth (256 colors) is displayed by HDMI 1.4a, which is VGA grade. You need a player with HDMI ver 2.0 or better to obtain the 10-, 12-, or 16-bit colors that really make the latest 4K screens shine for full 4K color resolution. The BDP-S6700 was an excellent match for my "older" (2012) Samsung HD plasma panel and Denon AVR-591 receiver because I was aware of this going in.WARNING: If you set the color depth on your BDP-S6700 higher than what your display can handle, you'll see screen flickers, interference bands, and blank screens. Most of the time, the BDP-S6700 will automatically recognize your display and change the color depth accordingly. The BDP-S6700 will transfer the high-bit color to the receiver if your A/V receiver is rated for 4K but your display is not. This may or may not be scaled down by your receiver before being sent to your display. This was my experience, and it took me a while to figure it all out (along with a lot of cursing). I share this story with you to help some of you avoid getting frustrated. Look for HDMI Deep Color in the options. The preset value is "Auto". If your display is anything less than 4K, set this to "Off." Just do it, and trust me. You won't notice a change (remember how your display can't resolve it?) and you'll avoid headaches when sporadic artifacts and flickers appear.Performance: The UI is simple to use and speedy. Discs load rather quickly. The BDP-S6700 discovered the network, acquired an IP address, and quickly accessed the internet thanks to the perfect network connection. Since I connected it, network connections have been absolutely reliable. My Android phone's screen mirroring function is quite good (IOS users are SOL - I tried 14 different apps with no joy). Although I don't use Bluetooth gadgets with it, they are easily identified. allegedly upscales 2D to 3D (yawn).75 streaming apps are available on the BDP-S6700, most of which I have no interest in using. They have news, sports, TV, movies, cuisine channels, and shopping channels. There is even a Russian-language app. In my opinion, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, Vudu, Hulu, YouTube, Pandora, and Spotify are the most helpful. With one exception, all of these operate without a hitch. However, utilizing the remote for searches is always time-consuming. Besides that, they're excellent. You can personalize 10 - and only 10 - of your favorites on the Home Screen. The "Featured Apps" cannot be changed, rendering the majority of the Home Screen worthless.Screen Mirror: The BDP-S6700 supports Miracast, so you're in luck if you want to show off your Android stuff. It streams directly to the player using the Wi-Fi capability of your phone. No lag. Sound is flawless. The wired connection to the BDP-S6700 is disabled while mirroring, and it doesn't switch back automatically once I'm done. This is a fault I found. have to restart the device every time. merely minimally unpleasant IOS AirPlay does not play, as was already mentioned. You can configure your iOS device as a DNLA server and use it to play content that is physically stored there, but you are unable to stream content from the internet or view the screen of the device (think Facebook, emails, etc). Ironic considering that Apple invented the technology and then locked it all up with the Apple TV system. I guess...The remote is little enough to stow deep inside any moving parts and slip into crevices in your couch or recliner. Just saying, I genuinely appreciate the simplicity of the remote. You must direct it at the player with a direct line of sight because it is IR directional. Additionally, you may operate the device with your phone by downloading an Android app, which is useful for entering information into app search fields.You won't enjoy this device if you recently purchased a brand-new 4K (UHD) monitor, therefore start looking for a $500 UHD player. Get a Roku if all you want to do is stream internet; it's faster, has greater customization, and has more than 2000 apps. This device is for you if you still have HD equipment and want to play the Blu-Ray, DVD, and CD discs you've accumulated over the previous 20 years as well as stream content from the big providers (Netflix, Amazon, Vudu, Pandora, and Hulu). I must have skipped over some of the description because I didn't understand that I needed to buy the high-speed hdmi cord separately. I was in a hurry to have things set up, so I didn't compare rates anywhere. In the end, I went to a nearby Dollar General and purchased one for $14. Later, I discovered that they are offered for sale here for roughly $6. I didn't require an HDMI cord or a coaxial wire, despite what the instructions said. Without the second cord, the HDMI one functioned.Having said that, I'm still thrilled with my purchase. There are many different apps available. You can choose which ones to display on the "Home" or main screen under "My Apps." The setup and use are both quite simple.The remote is not large. I can hold it in my hand. Batteries are included, yes. It is easy to use.It had no trouble connecting to my wireless.Although "Screen Mirroring" is a feature that sounds fantastic, I was unable to make it function. I'm not too sure, but it might be because I tried it on an iPhone. In essence, you can view photos from your phone on your television without any connections.Go ahead and order the hdmi cord (if you don't already have one) after reading all the features. Scroll down until you see the item.
