Yes, answering machines are still a thing. There are a few reasons for this: 1. They can be used as a backup in case of missed calls. 2. They can be used to screen calls (e.g., if you don't want to talk to a telemarketer, you can just let the answering machine pick up). 3. Some people prefer the sound of a human voice on an answering machine over a computerized voice. That said, answering machines are not as popular as they once were. Many people now use
Yes, landline phones are still available and many people still use them. They are a reliable form of communication and can be used in an emergency when cell phone service is not available.
There's no right or wrong answer to this question – it depends on your personal preference. If you're someone who likes to screen your calls, then an answering machine can be a helpful tool. If you'd rather not have to listen to your messages right away, then voicemail may be a better option. Ultimately, it's up to you to decide which system works better for you.
Verizon does not currently offer answering machines for their home phone service. However, they do offer a voicemail service that can be accessed by dialing *98 from your home phone.

I bought this to upgrade my cordless phone's weak ringer, which I use in a detached garage. My wife gets frustrated when she tries to call me because I frequently have the music turned up so high that I miss calls. My initial thinking was to use a strobe light, but since this ringer only cost less than $6, I decided to give it a try instead. The connection was really easy, and now I can easily hear the phone ring over the audio. If I'm more than 200 feet away from the garage, I can still hear it ring. It makes me joyful.

had initially installed a call-screener that was designed to allow calls on a pre-programmed "white list" that had been approved and to block calls on a "black list" that had been rejected. Sadly, ALL of my calls were BLOCKED!! :-0 I returned that useless call screener and received this answering machine instead, which answers after two rings, tells all other callers to just leave their name, number, and a brief message so we can return their call as soon as possible, and warns telemarketers and solicitors to hang up and remove my number from their call list. Since the majority of robocalls, telemarketers, and solicitor calls end without leaving a message, I can tell right away if it is one of these. Between 8:35 and 8:59 every day, they attempt 4 to 6 times! #annoying! Although I don't have to answer or miss any important calls, the phone is still ringing. Does the job; I endorse this product!

Photo dial: Never forget whose number is whose. Program eight frequently dialed phone numbers and attach a photo to each one for convenient speed dialing.
50dB Audio Assist: Temporarily increases overall volume by up to 50dB and enhances sound frequencies that make speech easier to understand.
90dB ringer volume: The extra-loud ringer makes it easy to hear incoming calls throughout your home.
Smart call blocker: Say goodbye to unwanted calls. Robocalls on your landline are automatically blocked from ever ringing through—even the first time. You can also permanently blacklist up to 1,000 numbers with one touch.
Big buttons, large display: Oversized buttons and an easy-to-read display screen make the system super easy and comfortable to use.

I am happy with this phone system a lot. Huge, easy-to-read buttons and a large screen are both features. The call blocking and photo fast dial features are fantastic. Setup is quite simple. The ringer is loud right out of the box, however it can be turned down by following the instructions on the cordless handset. It also has an integrated answering machine. Calls are extremely clear, and you can adjust the volume while talking on the phone or the speed at which the caller speaks while listening to your voicemail on the answering machine. This feature is wonderful, especially when trying to take down any notes or phone numbers that the caller may leave. Even personal reminders for oneself can be set up. I bought the additional photo handset extension for the corded/cordless system, and it works perfectly with it. I might purchase the pendant later. Call blocking is a feature of my Vonage VoIP service that works well overall. Not just for the elderly and crippled, but for everyone looking for a user-friendly phone system with a big display and great sound quality, I heartily suggest this phone system.

After my $15.00 answering machine broke, I bought this device. This one features a "boost" button that is incredibly loud and amplifies any message. The major reason I purchased this one was because the old one occasionally dropped words when the message-giver wasn't speaking loudly or clearly. Due of three factors, I only gave 4 stars. The first issue is how challenging it is to connect this device to a regular phone. The phone line from the unit to the phone must be bridged using a second splitter that is external to the device and/or phone because the unit itself lacks a second jack (which the $15.00 unit DID have; why not?). Why didn't the unit come with it, which is a pain? incredibly bad design The second problem is the absence of a battery backup. It appears that there is a "cutout" outline on the bottom of the unit for that feature but wasn't included with this, (inexpensive?) unit, leading me to believe that there must be another unit, (more expensive?) that does have this feature. Last but not least, there is no time/date option in the software menu. Again, the $15.00 device I used for years before it finally broke had that feature as well. Why once more? Why not this more recent, more costly unit if a $15.00 unit purchased roughly 5 to 7 years ago had a battery backup, a second jack so you could bridge the phone line from the unit to the phone, and had multiple mailboxes and time/date? Nevertheless, once configured, it operates flawlessly, and users may just leave it on without concern that it won't function. We are pleased with it and find it to be quite trustworthy. Oh, and the $15 device also had remote access with a password, even though I never used it. Just a thought.

Regarding this vendor: JP handled a minor order discrepancy promptly and courteously. Outstanding client service!THE BRIEF OF IT: The answering machine is functional, with simple controls and respectable sound quality.Small setup irritants:1. It takes some time to set the clock. It speaks out the minutes aloud until you reach the correct time (you can't go backwards); nevertheless, starting at 0:00 and having to go all the way to:55 is a little annoying.2. A little screw secures the cover for the battery backup. Who desires to search for a screwdriver? Why not incorporate a locking slide cover into the design?

Considering how poorly this product had been received, I was astonished. Since there don't seem to be many answering machines available anymore, I thought I'd give it a shot. It is really clear, easy to set up, and looks great and polished while it's on the counter. I may modify my greetings and check my messages from a distance. The fact that it includes two different outgoing welcomes also made me pleased. I'm overjoyed.
To set up your answering machine on your landline, first find the phone cord that is connected to the wall jack and plug it into the “line†port on the back of your answering machine. Next, take another phone cord and plug it into the “phone†port on the back of your machine, and then plug the other end into the appropriate port on your telephone. Once you have done this, find the power cord for your machine and plug it into an outlet. Finally, press the “on†button, and then follow the prompts to set
To retrieve messages from a landline, you will need to use a touch-tone phone to dial into your voicemail. Once you have accessed your voicemail, you will be able to listen to your messages.
There are a few ways that a senior citizen can get a free phone. One way is through the Lifeline program which is run by the government. Another way is through a senior citizen’s cell phone provider. Some cell phone providers offer free or discounted phones to seniors.
An answering machine is a device that answers the telephone and records messages from the caller. When the called party does not answer the telephone, the caller is given the opportunity to leave a message, which the called party can retrieve at a later time.
The average person speaks at a rate of about 125 words per minute. This means that a one-minute answering machine message can be up to 125 words long. However, many people choose to leave shorter messages, such as their name and phone number, so that the person receiving the message can easily jot it down.
