Recently, my restaurant switched from First Data to the Clover as our point-of-sale system (register station). The kitchen printer was not included in the P.O.S. equipment purchase we made through our bank, which we were unaware of at the time. The Star Micronics SP742ML is what we were looking for, so we went to Amazon and bought it from the vendor SFT Store. Let me tell you, I'm happy we used them to get the printer. The kitchen printer was not being recognized by the Clover station due to mismatched IP addresses (and while I may not be fluent in "tech," I'm also not tech illiterate), and despite spending three hours on the phone with Clover's tech support over the course of two days, Clover was still unable to offer me a solution. The closest thing Clover gave me to a solution was to "Contact the seller" of the printer. As a result, I messaged Epsilont, whom I thought to be the seller, and they replied, "Contact SFT Store." Going from one to the next to the next first gave me a headache, but if that was the headache, my migraine medication was the SFT Store Support. While waiting for the kitchen printer issue to be resolved, I sent SFT a message outlining my situation, including how Clover's support team was unable to find a solution to my problem. Within minutes (at most half an hour - I was working and wasn't keeping track of the time, but it was quite fast), I received a call from SFT (I had included my phone number in the message). SFT was able to accomplish for me in less than 30 minutes what Clover could not in three hours. I only wish I could recall the name of the wise man who helped me find the answer to my dilemma. In addition to calling me, he Facetimed me so that he could see the equipment in my restaurant and explain exactly what was where and what needed to be there. He also gave me help for the Clover's WiFi, Ethernet, and IP settings. Going above and above certainly applied in this case with the amount of support and assistance I received from SFT. I'm sure the majority of people have heard the expression. My restaurant's Clover system is now operational as a result of them, and I am especially grateful to the individual I dealt with on the phone who was an excellent instructor and guide who made everything look simple. I can't express how much I love him. So, a huge thank you to the SFT team for making my decision to buy from them the best one I could have ever made. And, as a heads up, if you do decide to buy a Star printer from them, they also sell the paper at a cheap and competitive price. They are definitely worth supporting, so I highly recommend you get your paper with them also if you're able to. I most certainly will be since it's important to support successful companies. Please accept my sincere gratitude, SFT. I give you a 5 out of 5!

First of all, it's crucial to remember that the communication cords for this printer are NOT included! Even though it doesn't specify it specifically, most commonly purchased printers come with a USB cord, so I'm not sure why this printer wouldn't. I believe it would be beneficial to make this clear in the listing so that all potential purchasers are ready to give their own***.PERFORMANCE- We have been using these Epson printers for at least 15 years, which is the same amount of time that we have been using our POS system. The fact that we have only needed to buy two generations of these printers shows how fantastic they are. durable, powerful printers. We opted to swap out one of our older, original Epson printers for this newer one because the center of the receipts was beginning to fade on one of them. They have thus far proven to be just as dependable as the previous model, which appears to be rather uncommon these days. We already bought one of these newer types years ago. Excellent durability and performance.CABLES: If you still have a computer that uses RS 232, you can use that in addition to the USB connection this printer accepts. We decided to utilize our old RS 232 cable because the printer we were replacing was connected by RS 232, and we lacked the USB cable type that new printer needed.Installation is simple and reliable. It only requires purchasing the power button and plugging in the cords.These printers use the 3 and 1/8" thermal paper rolls as input media. You should shop around because prices on these might vary greatly depending on where you get them.

The printer is small, prints clearly, and creates a receipt for my Square purchases without any problems at all. Because it has Bluetooth, I could place it wherever in my home office was handy without being constrained by the length of a USB wire. It's connected to a dated iPhone 4S, which I use to perform credit card transactions through Square and quickly print receipts. I'm very happy I spent a little extra money to get the blue tooth version.August 14, 2016 - UPDATE There are still no printing issues. The time it takes to complete the transaction and print the receipt is only a few seconds. The printer and iPad that I've connected it to for Square sales may not actually be the problem; rather, it may be a problem with Square Payment Systems. When I move the iPad to the opposite room, the printer does lose its Bluetooth connection, which is to be expected, but it frequently does not "discover" and then "couple" again without me going through the printer's pairing process once more. I'm reducing my rating from five stars to four as a result. This is only a tiny nuisance in the grand scheme of things, and the printer's quality more than makes up for any occasional pairing problems.

I got this printer to go with my homemade point-of-sale setup. The other things, all under $700, include a dell computer and monitor as well as this cash drawer. The printer came with the Epson opos drivers, which made it very simple for me to connect the printer to the computer. Additionally, this printer has flawless communication with the cash drawer, which made it easy for me to quickly put a personalized graphic to the top of the receipt.I also purchased some ncr receipt paper, which prints well. Both the print quality and the speed are quite good. The cutter performs admirably as well. The printer's footprint is just right for it to sit neatly on top of the cash drawer behind the monitor. There is no need to feed paper through rollers or deal with any other difficult tasks when servicing the printer; all you have to do is open the top, insert a new roll of paper, and make sure some excess paper is sticking out when you close it. It takes care of everything.I find it unbelievable that this printer is $150! Something that works this well should cost at least twice as much, in my opinion (as many other options do). I cannot express how strongly I suggest this thermal printer!

We bought this unit to replace one that I thought had broken after hard use for ten years. I read the manual after obtaining this new unit and realized that my old device was simply not plugged in properly. I am unable to choose to cover the cost of my own return shipping through Amazon (since this was my mistake not theirs.) I'll instead provide a comprehensive assessment of this printer. For the past ten years, this printer has served as our main receipt printer. It has never let us down. The only difficulties we've encountered have nothing to do with the printer's operation. Inadvertently printing documents from the computer using the receipt printer when new hires first start out can result in outrageously long receipts chock-full of contract clauses. Additionally, avoid placing your phone on top of them while they are trying to print because that will jam the printer. Fortunately, clearing a jam takes less than 10 seconds, and a 16-year-old girl can do it. Additionally, this printer is intelligent enough to automatically reprint the receipt we were attempting to print if it becomes jammed. We use these because they are the most dependable receipt printers available, and the one occasion I had any doubts about them, I was proven to be mistaken.
