Star Micronics SP742ME Ethernet Receipt Printer, Compatible with Square and Clover, Impact, Auto Cutter, Power Supply and Cable Included and 2 Rolls of Epsilont Paper Review:

Recently my restaurant updated our point-of-sale system from First Data to the Clover (register station). We purchased the P.O.S. equipment through our bank, but did not realize the kitchen printer was not included as part of the package. So we came to Amazon to find it - the Star Micronics SP742ML - and we purchased it through the seller SFT Store. Let me tell you, I’m glad we purchased the printer through them. Having spent three hours on the phone with Clover’s tech support across the span of two days, Clover was still unable to provide me with a solution to my problem - the kitchen printer was not being recognized by the Clover station because of mismatched IP addresses (and while I may not be fluent in ‘tech’, I’m also not tech illiterate). The closest thing to a solution Clover provided me with was “Contact the seller (of the printer).” So I messaged Epsilont, who I assumed was the seller, and they messaged back with “Contact SFT Store.” It started as a headache - having to go from one to the next to the next - but, if that was the headache, the SFT Store Support was my migraine medicine. I sent SFT a message explaining my situation about how Clover’s support team was incapable of finding a solution to my problem, and how I needed to set the Clover up as soon as possible but was waiting on the kitchen printer issue to be resolved, and within minutes (at most half an hour - I was working and not keeping track of the time, but it was quite fast) I received a call from them (I had included my phone number in the message). What Clover could not do for me in three hours, SFT was able to do for me in less than half an hour. I only wish I could remember the name of the knowledgeable gentleman who guided me towards the solution to my problem. Not only did he call, but he Facetime’d me so that he could see my restaurant’s equipment and point out exactly what was what and what needed to go where - along with providing me support for the actual Clover in regards to its WiFi / Ethernet / IP settings. I’m certain most people have heard the phrase “Going above and beyond” - and that certainly applied in this case with the amount of support and help that I was provided with by SFT. I can proudly say that because of them, my restaurant’s Clover system is up & running and it is all thanks to the gentleman I spoke with on the phone who was patient, understanding, kind, knowledgeable, and a great teacher / guide that made everything seem easy. I cannot appreciate him enough. So a big thank you to the SFT team for making my purchase with them the best choice I could have made - and, as a heads up, if you do purchase a Star printer with them, they also sell the paper at an inexpensive and competitive price — they’re definitely worth supporting so I highly recommend you get your paper with them also if you’re able to. I certainly will be - it’s always good to support great businesses. Thank you again for the help, SFT. You’re a 5/5 rating for me!

Epson C31CA85084 TM-T88V Thermal Receipt Printer (USB/Serial/PS180 Power Supply) Review:

**Firstly, it is important to note that this printer does NOT include the communication cables! I know it doesn't specifically mention including them, however, most regular printers one purchases do include the USB cable in their boxes so I'm not sure why this printer wouldn't. I think it would be helpful to be explicitly noted in the listing, it will help all buyers be prepared to provide their own***

PERFORMANCE-
We have been using these Epson printers for as long as we've been using our POS system, which is at least 15 years. We have only had to purchase 2 generations of these printers, meaning these are AMAZING. Long lasting, workhorse printers. One of our older original Epson printers was starting to have a faded area in the center of receipts so we decided to replace it with this newer model. We have already purchased one of these newer models years ago and so far they have proven just as dependable as the older model which seems to be very rare these days! Excellent performance and longevity.

CABLES-
This printer takes both a USB connection, as well as an RS 232 hookup if you still have a computer that uses one. Since the printer we were replacing was hooked up with the RS 232 cable, and since we didn't have the USB cable type that this printer requires, we opted to use our old RS 232 cable.

INSTALLATION-
Installation is foolproof. It is as simple as plugging in the cables and buying the power button.

PAPER ROLLS-
These printers take the 3 and 1/8" thermal paper rolls. Prices on these can fluctuate GREATLY depending on where you buy them, so I highly suggest you shop around!

Star Micronics TSP650II BTi 39449871 Bluetooth Desktop Receipt Printer Review:

The printer is compact, prints clearly, and has absolutely no issue when printing a receipt for my Square sales. The fact that it is blue tooth meant I could put it anywhere in my home office that was convenient and not tied down by the length of a USB cord otherwise. I have it linked up to an old iPhone 4s phone and run credit cards using Square and print receipts easily. I'm so pleased that I paid some more money and got the blue tooth version.

UPDATE: August 14, 2016 - Still no issues with printing. There is a slight delay, about five seconds, between completing the transaction and printing the receipt. This could very well be an issue using Square Payment Systems, and not really the printer and the IPad that I've linked it to for Square sales. The printer does lose its Bluetooth connection when I move the IPad to the next room, which is expected, but it often does not "find" and then "pair" again without me going through the printer's pairing process again. For that reason, I'm lowering my star rating from five to four. In the scheme of things, this is just a minor inconvenience and the printer quality more than makes up for any issues with pairing from time to time.

Star Micronics TSP143IIILAN Ethernet (LAN) Thermal Receipt Printer with Auto-cutter and Internal Power Supply - Gray Review:

Superb quality and ease of use. Can link to multiple devices allowing you to print from different devices/stations.
Been using only for a few months, but the quality is easily appreciated. Prints very clearly, and perforates the paper as well. A must have !! Bought a 2nd one for other location.. if anyone out there is having issues with connectivity over wifi, especially using the square App and specifically In cases where you get frequent disconnects (printer doesn’t show up or respond in app) every time you reopen the app or awaken the device; you will benefit from using a quality brand router. Doesn’t have to be dual band because the WiFi version of this printer only supports 2.4 ghz. I Struggled with daily disconnects and failures to reconnect. After trying different channels and all manner of configurations I ditched the crappy modem/router provided from isp and switched back to my Motorola and viola! Running perfect ever since.

Epson TM-T20II Direct Thermal Printer USB - Monochrome - Desktop - Receipt Print C31CD52062 Review:

i bought this printer to complement my diy pos system. the other items include a dell computer and monitor, and this cash drawer, all for under $700. the printer included the epson opos drivers, which allowed me to install the printer to the computer very easily. this printer also communicates with the cash drawer perfectly, and allowed me to add a custom image to the top of the receipt with very little effort.

i picked up some ncr receipt paper also, which works great in the printer. print quality is excellent, and the speed is plenty fast. the cutter also works very well. the footprint is small enough that the printer fits neatly behind the monitor, on top of the cash drawer. servicing the printer is also very easy, as all you need to do is open the top, toss in a new roll of paper, and make sure some extra paper is sticking out the top when you close it; no feeding paper through rollers or any of that headache. it does all the work for you.

i can't believe this printer costs ~$150! i would expect something that works this well to cost at least twice as much (as many other options do). i can't recommend this thermal printer highly enough!

Star MicronicsTSP143IIU GRY US ECO - Thermal Receipt Printer - Cutter - USB - Gray - Internal Power Supply and Cable Included Review:

Purchased this unit to replace one that I believed had broken which we had been using hard for 10 years. Upon receiving this new unit I read the instructions and discovered that my old unit simply wasn't plugged in correctly. Amazon doesn't give me an option to pay for my own return shipping (since this was my mistake not theirs.) So instead I'll give a long term review of this printer. We've used this printer as our primary receipt printer for 10 years. It has never failed us. The only issues we've had are not related to the functionality of the printer. Sometimes new employees will try to print documents off the computer and accidently print them using this receipt printer which results in a hilariously long receipt full of contract terms. Also don't set your phone on top of them while they're trying to print or it will jam it. Fortunately jams takes less than 10 seconds to clear and even a 16 year old girl can figure it out. Also...if we jam it up this printer is smart enough to immediately reprint the receipt we were trying to print. We use these because they are the most reliable receipt printer on the market and the one time I doubted that I was proven wrong.
