They install in about 30 seconds if you do it my way [I just hammered the old ones off and hammered the new ones on] and function as expected. At first, they are a touch stiff (which is okay), but a few cycles over a few weeks will loosen them up to an OEM feel.When you release the hood's latch, the hood shoots up quickly at first (again, not a terrible thing), and it takes almost two hands to bring it down the first few times, but after approximately three weeks, they've loosened up.Just be aware that I unintentionally purchased two pairs (no big problem), and that even with my entire weight (260 pounds) on one of them, I am unable to force one of the struts down. I've tried everything, but I still haven't been able to compress them.Much better than propping up the battery with a piece of wood.

These struts seem to be sturdy, but at this price, I wouldn't be disappointed if they needed to be replaced in a few years. Over time, struts do deteriorate. I did install self-locking nuts for security to the strut attachment sites. No defect of the unit, although they might be replaced in the future by ones with a wider range of motion.

Struts were identical to the OEM model. Each had a tremendous gas pressure! My Jeep Liberty's hood could be raised after only one needed to be replaced. Although there were no directions, they were simple to understand. Please take note that installing them requires roughly 50 pounds of force being applied to the gas cylinder. Additionally, I applied white lithium grease to the ball sockets as a suggestion.

Was uncertain at first because the 2-pack cost $23.99 plus free Prime Shipping. It cost $22 to purchase just one lift support from the dealer (approximately 50 miles distant). I found that Auto Zone and O'Reilly could both purchase them for $34 each, but only after placing an order, which would take at least two days. I decided to take a chance on this Amazon seller and paid the additional $4.99 for overnight shipping. The 2 lift supports cost me $28.98 plus shipping, and they came the following day. Very pleased with the purchase pricing and shipping time. I spent half of what I anticipated and got the item in half the time, and everything was just as stated.My wife currently travels in a 2012 Nissan Pathfinder. The tailgate had started to be a big annoyance and would no longer remain up on its own (it is quite hefty). Without a second person to hold the tailgate, it was impossible to load or unload anything from the Pathfinder. When you attempted to do it on your own, it typically closed before you could escape from beneath it, hitting you in the back or head.The original lift supports and the rebuilt ones were virtually identical in size and appearance. I quickly searched YouTube and came across numerous little videos that showed how to change them on similar automobiles. In about 10 minutes, I was able to remove the old supports and install the new ones on my own. The tailgate is now simple to raise up and stays open on its own thanks to its flawless performance! If you're doing it by yourself, I suggest using a step ladder that is tall enough to fit under the tailgate to hold it up. However, having someone hold the tailgate up while changing the supports would make the installation process go more smoothly.

Two of these kits, two on the leading edge that went through the grill and two in front of the wheels to support the sides, were utilized to add support to an aluminumite front splitter on my race car. They passed a track test of 140 without issue. To distribute the loads, I would advise installing washers at each attachment point. Rated 4 stars because the black section didn't appear to remain in place, so I just got rid of it entirely.
