Our Thetford Magic V RV toilet had a leaky water module, which caused us issues. At the time of this maintenance, our toilet was nine years old. I was informed that in order to repair this valve on any Thetford toilet, you must remove the toilet. We chose to replace the module rather than the full (plastic) toilet, as some people do. Since this was our first DIY project, we did pick up some valuable insights. Once the toilet has been removed, replacing the valve is simple, and there are YouTube tutorials available to assist. However, you might also want to replace the (many inches of) transparent plastic tubing (which is not supplied) that runs from the valve to the toilet bowl. This piece of tubing is just force-fitted; there are no clamps; and it appears that with time (or with increased water pressure? ), it may stretch at the connections and become a source of leaks. Similar tubing was available at the hardware store nearby. We had to take the toilet up twice before all leaks were stopped, so we had to learn our lesson about the tubing the hard way. The YouTube videos also didn't address the tubing problem. It was wonderful that Beech Lane had supplied a fresh rubber ring seal for the toilet's base in case it needed to be reinstalled. Due to the confined confines involved, our largest challenge was reconnecting the water to the toilet after it had been reassembled (our motorhome is 27 ft. with a small bathroom). My husband had to maneuver and "feel" his way back to the water source to reconnect it. Additionally, make sure your toilet is fully angled downward; ours is little off, so we will need to readjust (again, hard to judge in a tight space). On our most recent camping trips, the toilet has been operating without any leaks. Something has changed since the flush is now a little louder and stronger. The Beech Lane, which uses sturdier plastic than the original Thetford, is designed to prevent freezing as well. Although we store our camper in the yard and our winter temperatures can be "borderline," we live in South Carolina and have not had to winterize our camper in the last eight years. The extra protection against freezing is the frosting on the cake, and now that the work is done, we are thrilled with the quality of the Beech Lane water module! And all of this at a very affordable cost.

This part is problematic because it leaks, it froze, you are accountable for it, it is inconvenient, there is limited room to work on it, it can be overtightened (which is bad), it "snaps in," it is simple to damage the toilet itself (also bad), and installation calls for thread compound (Rectorseal 23631)Order 2Spring cleaning is replacing this. If you haven't completely emptied the water from your system before leaving the trailer when the weather drops below freezing, this valve will freeze and leak.It is a good idea to put anti-freeze in the bowl since it will protect the drain seal, but it is useless for this valve. Hold down the pedal until all water has stopped flowing once the low point drain is open. Hold it down for a further 15 seconds. Let it finish. Hold it down for a further 15 seconds.The valve will endure a freeze/thaw cycle if the gods of black water are kind to you. The gods rarely grinned.A flat blade screwdriver, two channel locks, a handful of paper towels, and the knowledge that foul language will be used are all required to replace this.It takes 30 minutes the first time, and 15 minutes the second.

This item was bought to replace a toilet that was an R-Pod model 171. Just above the threaded male end connecting to the water supply line, the Thetford aqua magic broke. The replacement is perfect in every way. Anyone replacing this unit should also include a faucet/toilet connections hose, in my opinion (best to use one that has that guaranteed antinleak connection). It was challenging to get it tightly sealed to the water line and thetford when I tried to use an inexpensive one. The water line requires an adapter, which you must buy. Essentially, if you replicate the original OEM Install, there is a lot of tension on that straight connection. The part breaks at the thread due to stress and the rocking motion of moving the trailer and/or using the restroom. Another suggestion I have is to connect everything first, including the water line and thetford to the faucet/toilet connector, and then attach the toilet. By doing so, you may check for leaks before reconnecting the toilet. Attach the Thetford to the toilet after making sure there are no leaks. Finally, use nuts to join the toilet to the floor. This method made it simpler for me to operate in the cramped shower area.

I owned an old Thetford. It was at least 20 to 25 years old and had only been put to "regular usage" for about 4 years before it began to leak. Despite being slightly smaller, it nevertheless had the same capacity. Although I don't need the extra size, I can still enjoy it. This seat lid is also much more elegant, seems to be sealed, and is built better than the previous one. As long as I use the product's liquid disinfectant that it came with, I haven't smelled anything fowl. Only at night or on camping vacations do I utilize it. For convenience of carrying, I opted for the smaller bottom rather than the larger. It is without a doubt preferred over any other brand.

Most of the time, my bowl contained water, but on occasion it leaked until it was completely dry. I occasionally noticed peeling black rubber pieces, and Plumbers Grease was not resolving the issue. I was aware that gas was flowing in if water was leaking out.GET OUT OF YOUR BLACK TANK.Turn off the water supply and get ready to catch any lingering drips.The nuts holding the head to the floor must be taken out. To remove the toilet, raise it.Put a towel inside the opening to block off the fumes.Take the appliance outside, clean it, and disinfect it.Separate the top and bottom. A large hose clamp and a v-shaped collar kept mine together.Replace the outdated seals with new ones.Install in reverse order.Even though it wasn't the most "fun," the endeavor was nevertheless successful. perfectly maintained toilet that functions better than new.

WOW, talk about a simple fix. I conducted my study online and viewed YouTube videos. I was anxious because I wondered if repairing a leaking toilet in an RV would really be this tough. For the purpose of replacing a seal, I observed films where the toilet had to be taken apart or removed.All that is necessary is to reach inside, pull on the old seal, and then replace it with the new seal. Get a helper who can step on the flush pedal to hold back the ball and keep it out of your way if you truly want to make the process easier. Take your time and make sure the new rubber seal is properly seated; otherwise, a straightforward fix might become a little more difficult to live with if it were to slip out of your hands and fall into the holding tank.Oh absolutely, compared to the original manufacture, this pricing is an outright steal.

It's an exact replacement, and I'm hoping the claim that it's made of better plastic is accurate. The directions are useless. To reveal the flush handle mechanism and spring, it should be stated to remove the rear screws holding the rear cover in place on the underside of the rim. It is simple to push the spring's end apart far enough to raise the link out of the hole. Once the two screws holding the valve in place have been removed, replacing the link on the new valve before installing it is a simple process. The link's end should then be reinserted into the handle mechanism's hole. You can use the replacement gasket to install the toilet into your RV after reassembling the lid.

This is primarily used for camping and kept in the back of a minivan, making it convenient in an emergency when using the restrooms in public would be too unpleasant.It is compact and stands low to the ground. Additionally, the bowl and seat are modest. Okay but not quite cozy. When not in use, the lid snaps shut to prevent odors from escaping. It is simple to use if you have good mobility (can stand up from a squat), is fairly simple to clean (why there is a removable toilet seat, I don't know), and is simple to operate. It might be used by two adults for up to two days before being discarded.The flush feature is essentially useless. You must apply strong pressure to the bellows, as others have said. Very little water is released, and what does not rinse the entire bowl is not even enough to move a single square of toilet paper. After using the bowl, I quickly rinse it with a fast squirt of water from a nearby water bottle with a sports top. I nearly docked a rating for that, but the positives far exceed the negatives, so I don't even think of it as much of a drawback. I press firmly and receive a dribble, so maybe mine is broken.THERAPY: I treat the holding tank with a heaping tablespoon of Happy Campers Holding Tank Treatment diluted in warm water, shaken in a jar. I use Angel Soft toilet paper because it is less expensive than rv toilet paper and is septic safe. To empty the holding tank, simply pour the (soupy) contents into a toilet and flush. The Happy Campers dissolves the solid waste and toilet paper into liquid. I then repeatedly rinse the tank.EMPTYING: While the toilet is closed and not in use, there is no scent; however, dumping the tank is a different matter. The odor is terrible. In order to deodorize the holding tank, I occasionally fill it with water and baking soda after dumping and rinsing. Although I'm not sure if it is helpful, it makes me feel better. It's not too difficult to hoist because it's under 3 gallons in volume.CONS: There is one issue about the item that I find suspect; without going into specifics, I wonder if I received a used one. If I could go back, I don't know if I'd have the nerve, but I might have washed the holding tank first or maybe smelled it when I got the package. Additionally, mine did not include the deodorizing packet that other people have mentioned.Overall, this device is really practical. Much better than using a garbage bag-lined 5 gallon bucket or peeing into a bottle in the dark at night. The money paid on it was well worth the peace of mind it provides. Method Wipes is convenient to use because I keep it close by and maintain it clean. (DO NOT flush paper towels!!!) This has greatly improved the quality of our camping vacations.
