Remanufactured starters are not as good as new ones. They may have been rebuilt using lower quality parts, or not rebuilt properly. This can lead to starter failure and engine damage.
If your car won't start, the battery may be dead. But if the battery is more than a few years old, it may be time for a new one.
If your car has a manual transmission, you may be able to replace your starter yourself. However, if your car has an automatic transmission, it is best to leave this job to a professional.

One similar to this was available at the auto store, but it had to be special ordered and cost $125. This was quickly sent to me. My car was broken down, so we went 100 miles out to the location and bolted it in. I immediately started it up and left. I also saw that the old starter was a subpar rebuilt. I'll be pleased if it lasts as long as it did—4 years.

This took the place of a stuck starter. It inserted well and started the truck like it should. Therefore, it vastly outperforms the previous starter in that regard. The truck still lacks electric windows, locks, and a remote starting system because the starter did not include these features. It also doesn't whistle or sound a bell when it operates, as I learned. I can only remark that it lacks bells and whistles because I did not see these components when I was installing it. even a kazoo. The packaging didn't contain a kazoo. The old starter was devoid of these components as well, but it also failed to sound when I really needed it, but this one does, giving it an advantage over the earlier one. Most sadly, it didn't include a chauffeur, therefore I can't suggest it to anyone who anticipate finding a chauffeur in their starter box along with the starter. When I tried manually turning the engine, it did allow the engine to rotate, thus it also beat the previous starter there.Additionally, I had to install it myself because it wasn't already there. If the technician I took the truck to hadn't told me the engine was seized and we would need a new engine, I would have had him install it. It came out that the starting was locked in and couldn't be unlocked, giving the new starter an advantage over the previous starter in that regard as well. Please add another star for the fact that I defeated the mechanism.More so than I can say about the previous starter, this one is good overall. That's not totally accurate because, while the old starter wasn't great, it was incredibly sturdy and left a beautiful dent in the trash when I threw it away. There is one fantastic aspect about this new starter that is simply unmatched by any other. Two Amazon prime days after the technician informed me that I required a new engine, it enabled me to start the truck. This allowed me to drive around the mechanic's parking lot while staring at him, which was fantastic because he appeared surprised and furious.Additionally, the rule of gravity is followed by this starter. When I was installing it, it fought my efforts to hold it off the ground quite a bit, but I persisted. When you type "law of gravity" incorrectly, you get "the ancient starter also followed the ladle of gravity." Unfortunately, the old starter's only useful purpose was as an illustration of gravity's law.

If you own a large 8V92 Detroit with an Allison 5sp automatic transmission, you are already aware of how difficult it can be to restart the engine after it has been accidently turned off in a position other than neutral. You can get around the transmission start lockout by using this remote starter device. Naturally use caution, and have a driver ready to shift into neutral as soon as "the person in the back" ignites the engine. Using this tiny remote starter button and cable has already prevented us from having to call roadside assistance twice. We experienced shutdowns as a result of engine overheating while climbing a steep gradient with the transmission in "drive." The bus was wrangled to the berm both times by my husband, but restarting would not have been feasible without this remote starter. We are no longer as nervous when the bus is stuck on the side of the road anymore.

A chronic crank issue has been plaguing my 2001 7.3 Excursion. It simply turns for a little too long before firing. The previous starter seemed feeble, plain and simple. I bought this starter based on two factors. 1) It is based on the well regarded Denso offset gear reduction starting 2) 15 reliable 5-star ratingsI have read all the reviews and am appreciative of those that go over and above to include the small details. For instance, it might be necessary to slightly clear the engine crossmember. Although I didn't have to, the starter is relatively near to the cross member—perhaps an eighth of an inch. Additionally, you should change the phillips head screw that secures the solenoid wire. I also changed mine out for a hex bolt that I screwed into the lug from the back, producing a stud for the wire to attach to. I tightened it using a nut and washer after that. With the starter in place, I can't even imagine attempting to start that screw. There is no way to view what you are doing up on the starter's top side. When slipping the wire over a stud, it is much simpler to join the wire using Helen Keller's technique. My mind was blown when I turned on my truck for the first time after replacing the starter. My motor must be turning over at least twice as quickly with this starter than with the old one. Long cranking is over! Now, I only need to lightly touch the starter to start my truck. I've never been more impressed.Purchase this beginning; it's fantastic!

UPDATE: After speaking with the seller, they agreed to send a replacement for the one I already have because it appeared to be seriously scratched. However, they claimed that all items genuinely have the same appearance and that this is possibly a design defect. I first gave a one star rating since I received a used item, but I'm changing that to four stars now that I've received a timely response from the seller. Regarding the smell, I enjoy it because it's very delicate. Based on the evaluations here, I'll try the green tea the next time. The smell is extremely weak, so I'm not sure if it will last long enough (which I actually like).I enjoy the scent, but the item that was provided to me has been used. The paint on the handle was almost "scratched-like" in how it was peeling off. I debated returning it because 8mm would have to wait for a reimbursement that would only be $20 or so, but it really is upsetting because I enjoy the way it looks. BMW expressly said that the item was not used, so I just don't understand how they could send something that was. Most likely a different branch, but not this one.

My 2001 Chevy Tahoe's starter lasted 17 months before failing. The worst part is that since I changed the starter motor, I haven't put 3k on this car. I would have given it a one-star rating, but three years ago, I also purchased a starter for my daughter's Saturn from DB Electrical, and it's still going strong.Updated to five stars. The starting's OEM heat shield vibrated and slipped over the beginning motor after I towed my Tahoe into the shop, which caused the starter to short out on the hot lead. The starter motor is functional again after removing the heat shield and changing the primary fuse.
To prolong the life of your starter, you need to keep it fed and happy. This means feeding it with fresh flour and water on a regular basis, and keeping it in a warm spot. You can also put it in the fridge to slow down its activity, which will help it last even longer.
If your car won't start, it could be either your starter or your battery. Here's how to check: If you turn the key and nothing happens, it could be your starter. Try jumping the car to see if that's the case. If the car turns on but then dies shortly after, it could be your battery. Try charging it or replacing it to see if that solves the problem.
A starter is a key component to starting your car. It helps turn over the engine to get your car going. If your starter is bad, your car may not start at all, or it may start but then stall soon after. If your starter is going bad, you may notice clicking noises when you turn the key, or the engine may crank slowly or not at all. If your car does start, you may notice that the engine idles roughly or stalls soon after starting. If you think your starter may be going bad, have it checked out by a mechanic to be sure.
It usually takes about two hours to replace a starter. However, this time can vary depending on the make and model of the vehicle.
If you tap a starter too many times, you risk damaging the engine. However, there is no definitive answer on how many times you can tap a starter. It depends on the make and model of the car, as well as the condition of the engine. If in doubt, it's always best to consult a professional mechanic.
AutoZone charges around $100-$120 for starter replacement. The price may vary depending on the make and model of your car.
