Plastic is one of the most versatile and commonly used materials in the world. It's used in everything from packaging to toys to building materials. But one of the downfalls of plastic is that it can be difficult to clean. One way to clean plastic is with vinegar. Vinegar is a natural disinfectant and can cut through grime and dirt. It's also effective at removing stains. To clean plastic with vinegar, simply mix equal parts vinegar and water in a bowl. Then, dip a cloth in the mixture and wipe down the plastic surface. You can also use a
Yes, you can restore sun faded plastic. There are a few different ways to do this, but the most common is to use a product called Plasti Dip. This is a rubber coating that you can apply to the plastic to protect it from the sun and restore its original color.
Yes, you can use tire shine on plastic trim. However, you should always test a small area first to make sure it does not cause any discoloration.
A heat gun can restore some of the color to faded plastic. The heat gun melts the plastic slightly and the color is reabsorbed into the plastic.

Although the plastic trim around the convertible top of the old mustang I purchased was in excellent shape, it was faded and stained with white lines. Perhaps the paint on the trim came from a substance used to shield the body of the paint?I applied the plastic restorer after cleaning the plastic trim with an all-purpose cleanser and letting it air dry for a little while; it turned out beautifully. Since I was so eager to utilize this product, I neglected to snap before and after pictures. Given that I live in Florida, I appreciate the UV protection this product offers. We'll have to wait and see how this holds up and whether rain will change the hue. Probably update with new information.Edit: images were added.Update: a few weeks have passed. The trim still has the restored black, and even after a light downpour, I don't notice any streaking. I'll keep you updated if anything changes, but my rating is still 5/5. I'm quite happy with my purchase, and I recommend it.
Its convenient aerosol applicator prevents dripping, leaking, evaporating, and coagulating at the tip of the nozzle (as is common with pumps and squeeze bottles)
Plexus makes colored plastics vibrant, makes clear plastic virtually transparent, and leaves plastic paints gleaming like new
Plexus seals the pores in plastic surfaces with a micro-thin layer of shiny, protective wax, making it resistant to debris, oil, scratches, and eventual yellowing
Developed for use in the aviation industry - specifically, for cleaning and protecting aircraft windshields and painted surfaces, people quickly discovered it could be used on a limitless variety of plastic surfaces
Use it on your vinyl windows, hatch covers, mirrors, laminated surfaces, eyeglasses, sunglasses, computer screens... just about any place you would normally use plastic cleaner
Simply to maintain the cleanliness and new-looking appearance of my Harley's polycarbonate windshield, I made an investment in Plexus products. The best products I've ever used for doing that are Plexus and a microfiber cloth. A sizable can of Plexus is kept in the garage, while a smaller can is kept in the saddle bags. As a result, I started using Plexus on the colorful plastic trims of my pickup truck. Nothing... nothing works like Plexus to clean and protect all that industrial plastic used on automobiles nowadays. I've been relied on this stuff for a long time and trust it totally to care for my motorcycle. And NO RESIDUE, which means no film to draw in dirt and dog hair. Given that it doesn't require much to complete the task, it is simply excellent and a decent value.

I had to give Car Guys Plastic Restorer a try after reading all the positive reviews it had received. Despite the fact that I have been using Mothers Back to Black for years and am delighted with it, I am always open to trying anything new. I'm so glad I did. My favorite has changed, and even though CG's is a little more expensive, I think it is totally worth it!Back to Black's milky-white liquid appears to smear over the plastic rather than actually soaking into it.The grey cream used by Car Guys, in contrast, quickly absorbs into the trim that it is applied to. Though it continues to get better over the next 5 to 10 minutes, the black is restored nearly immediately, producing a result that looks virtually brand new!Since I just received it and applied it for the first time this morning, I am unable to comment on how long the newly restored appearance will last. However, given how much better it seems to soak in and bond than Back to Black, I believe it will last at least as long—if not much longer—than Back to Black. I'm a satisfied client and will try more Car Guys items in the future!UPDATE: My Toyota Tacoma and my Tundra's bumpers have been treated with plastic restorer for about five weeks, and I'm delighted to say that they both still look just as wonderful as they did on day one. By far, this is my favorite PR!UPDATE 2: I've had the Car Guys PR on my vehicles for nine weeks, and it still looks great! This is insanely fantastic stuff!

My 1990 Chevy K2500 looks like it was just detailed, and I've used this stuff for years with no cracks yet, but I can't say what the overall effect is on vinyl. The harsh heat here in the high desert has a detrimental effect on all the vinyl, including the dash, console, and doors, where my truck has spent its whole existence. After applying a few coats of this, the vinyl actually loses its white chalky appearance and appears lustrous and spotless. Various people have different ideas on this product based on reviews, but I've owned my truck for 20 years and using it throughout that time doesn't seem to have damaged it, even though vinyl does become brittle over time, so I installed a dash mat to prevent my own from cracking. Given that the treatment must be reapplied frequently to preserve the attractive appearance when a vehicle is exposed to the sun constantly, I would say it serves more as a restorative than a protective. The car that spends its time in the garage lasts a lot longer.

The headlights on my 2005 Acura have become foggy over time. I once paid a nearby shop to clean my headlights, and while it was pricey and the headlights cleared up again after a few months, it did work. This is due to the fact that headlights are made of plastic, and the sun's rays and wear from travel cause the plastic's surface to get foggy.I recently read an article on CNET where they reviewed various headlamp cleaning chemicals and suggested Meguiar's PlastX. Along with it, I got some drill buffing pads. When it arrived, I used blue painter's tape to hide the paint surrounding the headlights before giving it a shot.WOW! The headlights went from murky to clear in a matter of minutes! After a few seconds, you should check how the headlight looks and have an old towel on standby to clean it off. After that, you can be choosy and focus on the areas you missed by giving them a brief buff once more.Really, I can't believe how simple and effective this was. The drill buffing pads are a must-have because they make the process simple. The identical kit is being sold by a number of different vendors here. It has a base that attaches to your drill, and it uses Velcro to secure one of the foam pads.Additionally, you don't need a lot of PlastX to do the task; only a thin line on the foam pad can effectively remove most of the lights. This means that a bottle will last for a very long time. And cleaning the headlights once again will only take a few months.

Although this is more like wax than the black hue I had anticipated, it still worked nicely. My Jeep's plastics were in awful shape, but now they almost appear to be brand new. I used this solution three weeks ago, and despite a few days of rain, it still looks wonderful. I anticipate having to reapply this product at some point because it resembles wax. Even so, it is entirely worthwhile because it takes only a short time and has a significant impact. I even use it on the plastics in my second car, which were in excellent condition, but now they appear cleaner and I anticipate that this will protect them so that they stay black for a longer period of time.

Many people apply this to various rubber and plastic surfaces inside and outside of cars, but I find that it doesn't last very long. In light of this, I just apply 2 or 3 sprays of Armor All Protectant to each wheel well after brushing them clean. I'm not worried about the Armor All's lifespan because the wheel wells seem darker and because they get dirty quite rapidly. When used in this manner after washing the automobile, Armor All adds a wonderful finishing touch.Exterior Optimum (OB2008Q) Opti-Bond Tire Gel - 32 oz. or Adam's VRT Tire

A Jeep Wrangler JL with a lot of black plastic trim is available. This product did an excellent job of sealing the plastic trim and restoring the factory lustre. Follow the directions carefully and wash with Dawn to get rid of any greasy buildup before drying completely and applying the product. Unseen water that was concealed in a crevice interacted with the product by changing into a white coating. The next day, I was able to lightly sand that area with a nail file and reapply the product, and everything worked out just great. Overall, I'm extremely pleased with the purchase. The first two photos show things before, while the following two show things after.
Easy to use
Dramatically improves water repellency on plastics
Hydrophobic treatment for plastics
Works on glass just as well as ordinary rainX, but application technique is very important. In actuality, this is far more delicate. It won't function at all if you do it incorrectly.Clean the plastic very thoroughly with a substance that won't leave any deposits behind. Then, simply keep rubbing it in until it is uniformly distributed using a synthetic cloth (such the microfiber dust cloths, Quickie, etc.). Then use a dry area of the towel to rub until it becomes clear once more. The directions specifically state not to use paper towels; nevertheless, when I did, the rainX failed to cling at all, even though it didn't harm anything. Maybe due to the acidity of paper? It works remarkably well even when traveling slowly with a windshield, as I discovered when I tried it out on my motorbike helmet. If you ride a nude bike in the rain, you'll be completely visible.
Olive oil does not restore plastic.
Most plastics are made from petroleum products, which means they're not biodegradable. But there are ways to recycle plastics and give them a second life. One way to recycle plastics is to shred them and use them as filler in other products, such as toys or furniture. Plastics can also be melted and reformed into new products. Another way to recycle plastics is to use them as fuel. Plastics can be converted into oil, which can then be used to power cars or generate electricity. Finally, plastics can be used to make art or other objects
If your black plastic is looking a little lackluster, there are a few easy ways to make it look new again. Start by giving it a good cleaning with soap and water. If that doesn't do the trick, you can try using a Magic Eraser or a toothpaste and toothbrush to scrub away any stubborn dirt or stains. If your black plastic is looking really dull, you can try giving it a quick spritz of WD-40 or rubbing it with a small amount of olive oil.
To make plastic glossy again, you need to sand it down with fine sandpaper and then apply a clear coat of paint or varnish.
The easiest way to remove oxidation from black plastic is to use a product specifically designed for the job, like Black Magic Plastic Polish. Simply apply the polish to a clean cloth and rub it into the affected area in a circular motion. Once you've removed the oxidation, be sure to protect the plastic with a UV-resistant sealant to prevent it from coming back.
One way to remove scratches from black plastic trim on a car is to use a polishing compound. Apply the polishing compound to a clean, soft cloth and rub it into the scratch in a circular motion. Continue rubbing until the scratch disappears.
