Most people believe that they cannot cover their fish tank with a towel at night because the fish need oxygen from the air. However, if the tank is properly aerated, the fish will be fine.
You can use plexiglass for an aquarium lid, but there are some things to keep in mind. Plexiglass is a good material for an aquarium lid because it is clear, lightweight, and durable. However, it is not as strong as glass and can scratch easily. It is also important to make sure that the plexiglass is sealed properly to prevent water from leaking out.
If there is too much oxygen in your fish tank, it can cause the fish to become stressed and may eventually lead to death. Oxygen is essential for fish to live, but too much of it can be harmful.
Yes, you can over filter fish tank. If the filtration system is too strong, it can create too much of a water current and stress out the fish. It can also cause the fish to have trouble swimming and feeding.

This product is excellent. This is actual tempered glass, which is much stronger than other products on Amazon. If you carefully measure your openings, it will fit. They were a wonderful match for our 90-gallon tank. The only issue you will encounter is trying to attach the plastic extenders to the rear of the glass since they are too tight to do so. Here's some advice on how to do it. Squeeze some JETDRY on the edge of the glass and the plastic slot before sliding the coverings on from the end. With two persons, one to hold the glass and the other to slip on the covers, this is considerably simpler. After putting them on, place the glass in the sink and use your spray nozzle to completely rinse out the Jetdry for around five minutes.Without greasing the covers first, we were unable to put them on. With these glass covers, WE are delighted.

This was a fantastic purchase for our son's aquarium as a Christmas present. Over it, we mounted a light. The glass top is a lovely addition! Simply be mindful when applying the handle. Despite how tough the plastic on the back is, I was able to cut it using scissors. Our filter protrudes a little too much, and I believe that because of this, the plastic could not be further cut away. It wasn't necessary for us, so I wish I hadn't pierced it with any more holes. We are pleased with this glass top for our aquarium nonetheless.

This aquarium "hood" features three sections and a centre divider. I thought it would work for the 55 gallon tank I have that doesn't have a separator, so I got it. I read some reviews that were a little hazy. The bottom two parts must be placed on a piece of glass that extends the entire length of my tank. In the future, I'll try to find a piece of plastic that is sturdy enough to span the tank's center from front to back so that the two bottom parts may rest on it. If you don't have the divider, there is a gap of about 1 inch between the two portions, so I have a piece caulked in that area to cover the hole that remains. Each of the bottom sections has an access flap in front, a window for light to pass through, and cutouts for filters and other items at the back. They are 23 inches long and 11 1/4 inches deep. (THESE PIECES COME IN THE BOX TAPERED TOGETHER TO KEEP THEM FROM SLIDING AROUND BUT THEY DO NOT REMAIN TOGETHER, YOU MUST HAVE A WAY OF SUPPORTING THEM AT THE CENTER OF YOUR TENT.) The light stretches the entire length of the aquarium, not just the length of the two bottom "insert" parts, as it sits atop the aquarium rim. There would be no issue if I had purchased these for my more recent aquarium, which includes a divider. I know how to make these work. Other than that, I am content with the product. I just included as much information in this review as necessary to make it clear that this is a three-piece hood and NOT a two-piece hood. You NEED a top tank structure that is divided.

I was unable to determine why my old aquarium light stopped functioning. So I went in search of a replacement. My 29 gallon aquarium fit nicely in this "Aqueon Aquarium Black 30" Fluorescent Deluxe Full Hood"! It fits nicely into the "lip" that surrounds the aquarium's top border. In addition to the GLASS (under the light), which was not mentioned in the description, this hood also had it. Please be aware that in order to cut out the aperture for the water filter, you DO need a tiny, flexible SAW (similar to a small, flexible "hole" saw). I attempted to use a serrated knife, but it was unsuccessful. The tiny saw blade on my Leatherman Multitool saved the day (like a Swiss Army knife). I'm hoping that this hood will endure as long as the last one did. Only time will tell.

I adore it. I have a 55-gallon tank that is 16 years old and still has its original hood and light. Unfortunately, the hood started to crack and eventually broke into two parts after all these years. I consequently needed a new hood. This one, number two, actually matched my rectangular tank wonderfully. With this one, I couldn't have found a better fit for my tank. Though lighter in weight than its predecessor, the plastic should be more durable. For my tank, I required two of them, which I purchased. Although I prefer fluorescent lighting, I also gave LED lights some thought, and these fit the bill. This cover comes in three pieces as opposed to its predecessor. In contrast to the original, which had the hood as one piece with a lifting lid and the light as the second piece, this version has the hood cut in half, the lid attached to make it one piece, and the light perched on top. It was appropriately packaged and delivered quickly and safely. The lighting is sufficient for an average tank, and closing and opening the top is hassle-free. For me, the quietness of the lights is a plus.Overall, I think the purchase was good. Anyone else seeking for a new aquarium hood with light for their tank should use these, without a doubt. With mine, I'm pretty content.

To replace an outdated tank, I ordered this. Since this is my first tank, I was unsure if I had ordered the right size and am hence unsure of my exact actions. The pricing I found for the hood was by FAR the lowest at this point. It was incredibly simple to set up and perfectly suited my tank. Everything is incredibly simple to use, and my fish are glad to get their tank lid back. I wish I had known that I needed to order light bulbs if there was anything that could have been done better. I had to run to the pet store since I didn't have any extras despite the fact that I was printed on the box.EXTREMELY RECOMMENDED

This offers the best value for your money. This producer shows concern. The edges of my glass lids have never been beveled. The fact that glass lids never have sanded edges scares me and causes me anxiety when I have to clean them. The flex is made of attractive translucent plastic. Yes, the back vinyl piece is challenging to attach, but assembling these elements has never come naturally to me. For the 30 inch top, you also get 2 lift hands. The lid is also packaged for delivery; if you received a cracked lid as a result of transportation, I would be shocked. Perfect fit for a 29-gallon Aqueon.

This lid is gorgeous. It looks fantastic and is properly crafted. Awesome LED lighting is used. While the nighttime option emits a soothing, subdued blue lighting, the daytime feature emits bright light. I read that it was intended to parody moonlight somewhere. The only aspect of this lid that I might modify is the addition of a small hinged door to allow access to the tank without opening the entire cover. Currently, the only way the lid opens when you need to access the tank or feed the fish is a hinge in the back, which means the entire assembly opens and your light goes with it. When you need that light to see what you're doing, it's a little inconvenient. However, it's nothing you can't handle. With the help of a few sturdy clips, the lid is also fixed firmly to the back of the tank. The hood pops into place on these clips once they are attached to the back of the tank, producing an SECURE hinged opening. In contrast to other lids that need you to physically remove the hood and set it somewhere out of the way, which results in leaking everywhere unless you have a towel on hand, this one leaks any condensation on the inside of the hood back into the tank when opened for maintenance.Overall, a fantastic product, which I did (and now I have 2 on various tanks).

Except for the handles, which are grey and not see-through, I like that the plastics are clear. For whatever reason, back in the day, these were made of brown plastic, so if you didn't use a strip light designed specifically for them, the middle of the tank would cast an odd shadow. These are made of translucent acrylic (very opaque), which lets most of the light through and even appears to somewhat diffuse it.Although I had a horrible feeling about getting glass from this company, everything went well, and the goods were even better than I had hoped. Here is a list of aquarium sizes for those who are unaware. I have a 12 gallon tank, 5 10 gallon tanks, and whisper 20's on the narrow end "I was still losing a lot of water to evaporation despite having a piece of cut project glass from Home Depot covering the most of the top. I added 6 more "Glass needed to completely cover the tank, but it also needed a handle to make it easier to lift out the smaller piece when necessary. For that, these handles are great. Now that evaporation is much reduced, the grips make it much simpler to hold the delicate glass lids. The adhesive appears to be holding strong. To achieve a strong binding, I advise using alcohol to clean the glass before gently placing the handle in place for 5–10 seconds.
Aquarium backgrounds can be very confusing for fish. They can cause the fish to lose their bearings and become disoriented. This can lead to the fish swimming into objects or getting stuck in corners.
Aquarium lids are often used to help reduce water evaporation and to keep fish from jumping out of the tank. However, they can also help reduce oxygen levels in the water. This is because the lid blocks out light and prevents oxygen from getting into the water.
It's a common question among fishkeepers: do fish like backgrounds? The short answer is yes, fish do enjoy having something to look at other than the bare walls of their tank. Backgrounds can provide your fish with a sense of security and a place to hide when they feel stressed or threatened. They also give your aquarium a more natural look and can help to reduce algae growth.
Do fish tanks cause damp? No, fish tanks do not cause damp. Damp is caused by excess moisture in the air, and fish tanks actually help to reduce the amount of moisture in the air.
After you've set up your new fish tank and it's had time to cycle, you can start adding fish. For a new tank, you'll want to add just a few fish at first. Over time, you can add more fish as your tank matures.
