My 16-pound Pomeranian/Papillon mix always has tear stains. I tried a variety of wipes, oils, and washes, but they hardly ever managed to remove anything. On sometimes, the tear stains get crusty and are completely impossible to remove.THESE DID IN FACT HELP A LOT. The little teeth on them are the perfect size for cleaning the crusty areas around her eyes, and I can quickly wipe off any remaining debris afterward. My dog also cooperates, and I believe she even enjoys it. If you have a little dog and are having problems, I would certainly suggest this product to you. Because I looked in Petco and Petsmart, but neither store even has anything similar. They wouldn't function for this purpose because they only carry flea combs, which have broader teeth.The width of these brushes is the sole reason I am rating this 4 instead of 5 stars. My French bulldog has experienced numerous eye issues. The veterinarian diagnosed him with tumors, so we paid a significant sum to have them laser removed with the caveat that it might not be beneficial. When he scratched his eyes, he would scream. After the procedure failed, the veterinarian prescribed steroid drops. The more I observed him, the more it appeared to be allergies, and because he scratched his eyes with his stuffed animals to get some comfort, I was concerned that he might be infecting them as well. He hardly ever requires those steroids anymore because I started using this solution only once a day to keep them clean. Okay, so it has taken me a long to write this because I wanted to allow enough time for effects to be seen. I thought this product wasn't working when I initially tried it about a year and a half ago, but that was only because I had very high expectations. I wanted tears entirely unblemished. I consequently stopped utilizing the item. After several months, the tear stains grew and progressively deteriorated. I then gave the stuff another try. This time, I made sure to have reasonable expectations, and I can now claim that over the past 45–60 days, the tear staining has improved by at least 75%. I was afraid they would be half dried out when they arrived, but there is a lot of solution in these things! I use one of these small cotton rounds that have been soaked in a solution for each of my dog's eyes. They are helpful in removing the crust and goo from my dog's fur and don't really have a strong aroma. They essentially leave stains behind. They also fail to eliminate any unpleasant odors from the dog's eye. But they do a great job of cleaning things up. I've tried makeup rounds and other tear-cleaning solutions in the past, but they didn't work as well, swiftly, or effortlessly as this one did. Since they don't irritate her eyes, my dog doesn't mind them, but your experience can be different. After more than two weeks of use, they are still as moist as when we first opened the jar.

A Coton De Tulear we recently bought has very dark tear stains, which we noticed right away. These were so severe that the colour was actually matting the fur down and covering most of the face.
