Summary: We have no regrets regarding our decision to acquire the Vogelzang TR004. Must you purchase this insert? YES.DELIVERY: The stove arrived in a typical box truck. Without any assistance, the delivery person was able to unload and deliver it into my garage.Our wood burning insert was professionally installed at our request. Some things, in my opinion, are better left in the hands of experts. One of those, in my opinion, would be installing an open-flame stove. It was particularly suggested by our installation that we buy this stove from Amazon. He installed them frequently and said it was the finest value on the market.PERFORMANCE: What a jewel this stove is. We had to spend a few weeks figuring out how to make the most of it. But now that we're accustomed to it, we can start a fire in a matter of minutes and have a good bed of hot coals in about 45. When it gets to that degree, you can keep adding wood to the stove all day long, and it will burn it all down to a fine, white ash. Amazing fuel efficiency characterizes how it uses petrol. It radiates that kind of heat that really soaks into your bones. It is being used to warm an extension to our home that has never been warm enough to use for six months of the year. We can now enjoy this space and unwind by the lovely fire. When the blower is turned on, the heat is sufficient to raise the temperature on the first level by 2-3 degrees, and the room where the stove is located warms up by an additional 10-15 degrees.1) We discovered that the stove performs best without any sort of grate in it to elevate the wood. Just go ahead and start a fire right there on the stove's base. This method makes lighting considerably easier and improves lighting stability. The grate we bought for this stove was given away. 2) When starting a fire and creating a bed of coals, fully open the damper. Slide it all the way closed to extend burning and extract additional heat from each log until you've created a good bed of hot coals. Simply open the damper all the way once more and blow on the coals a few times if you add wood and it's still not catching. 3) Regular glass cleaner works wonders to clean the glass. 4) After a fire, you don't have to get rid of all the ash. If you start the next fire with a few inches of ash already in the bottom, we've found that it starts more readily. 5) The only fireplace equipment you actually need is a small shovel or trowel to clear away the ashes and a pair of fireproof gloves for handling wood and coals. The rest is not necessary. 6) When we first got the stove, we noticed that the blower was noisy and "rattly," just like many other reviewers. It didn't take long to notice that the blower assembly's steel cage was rattling on the hearth's brick. This was quickly remedied by placing a few pennies strategically between the steel and the masonry. Stop the rattle now!

I've been wanting a wood stove for extra heat for a while, but I didn't have much money. I purchased this unit from Tractor Supply for $459. Installing it wasn't that difficult. Compared to conventional stoves, it takes a bit more effort to ignite, but once you get the hang of it, there is no difficulty. It produces a lot of heat and burns with a lovely leisurely flame. The blower is feeble and largely ineffectual, in my opinion. Additionally, it is very noisy. It is not really an issue because this stove is so effective, but it is enough to reduce its rating from 5 to 4. Excellent value for the money and will save you a ton on fossil fuels or energy.

We "Woodies," who consider wood-generated heat sources to be a substantial addition to our annual budget and entertainment schedule, should be jubilant! The conventional wood stove had catalytic combustors put to it a number of years ago. They were supplied by many stove manufacturers. For the same amount of wood burned, the catalytic combustors considerably enhanced the heat production while producing less soot in our chimneys. We don't need you as regularly with these things, Bert (Mary Poppins), sorry. The supply of new catalytic combustors has been inconsistent and pricey as a result of the recent ownership changes at many of these stove manufacturers. The present owners of the Vermont Castings catalytic stove I own are not amenable to the replacement combustors. The good news is that a third party company has stepped in to fill the gap admirably in North Carolina. Condar is the company, and their products are outstanding, well-made, and available at a much better price. Compare the pricing on their store's website to the price on Amazon. They also offer wood stove accessories, like thermometers for catalytic combustor engines, making them the go-to source for stove-related items. In their combustors, platinum is still present. The Woodie is happy to have discovered this.

The gaskets on my 23-year-old Vermont Encore model 2550 need to be replaced. It was an excellent kit. You shouldn't have any difficulties if you stick to the directions. To ensure that all of the old cement is removed, it does require some time and work. In addition to installing a new refractory fire box, which required further disassembly, it took me two days.

We purchased a house without these handles. Before I checked Amazon to see if they sold these, we used a wrench for a year to open the wood stove door. Even though it costs a lot for just one handle, it is really worthwhile. The manner we were opening the doors was causing damage to our stove. We still need to purchase 3–4 more of these, but at this price, we can only do it individually. Since it is an original part, we are not worried about it getting too hot while attached to a stove door, and the item fit nicely.

I purchased this small stove in the hopes that it would at the very least reduce the chill on chilly mornings and evenings when I wanted to work in my 15 x 18 (uninsulated) shop. I closed in the rear part of where I used to put my camper, raising the ridgeline to a little over 15' in height, so I wasn't expecting any miracles, which was fortunate because I didn't. It merely accomplished my expectations and nothing more. The first night I fired it up, it was roughly 30 degrees, and after about 45 minutes, the thermometer in my shop was reading a sizzling 63... till... I walked inside, pulled out my reliable box fan, switched it on, and pointed it upward to move some of the heated air that had gathered over my workspace. The ambient temperature rose to 72 degrees after around 5-7 minutes. Absolutely wonderful for me For the price, it's a decent little stove. It does smoke a bit out of the door cracks, as other reviews have also noted, but once the fire gets going, everything makes its way up the pipes and is drawn outside.When installing, I had to add roughly 36 "I needed part of the double wall galvanized gas water heater pipe from the local brick and mortar store, which fit wonderfully, and a few 90's to go out and up. Yes, eventually it will burn out, but I'll just replace it then. In less than an hour, everything was installed and smoking. Additionally, I purchased one of the tiny cast iron dampers that are advertised when you look at the stoves on this page of Amazon. It appears to increase the amount of wood consumed and keeps the heat inside the stove for a little while longer so the fire box may get warm. It's a sturdy, little stove that's well manufactured. I may use the dead limbs that accumulate in my yard after a storm to feed it for my own use. Just divide them into 12 to 14 parts "pieces and stack them for use on cooler days later. In order to collect and radiate a little bit more heat, I also placed a large dividing wedge and an old piece of little railroad track on top of the stove. Although I'm sure it was helpful, I'm not sure how much. The tiny stove accomplishes the task I had in mind for it.This tiny stove is ideal for my needs, and I have no regrets whatsoever about making the purchase. To cut a long tale short, I am overjoyed. Hope this was useful.*** You can see the double walled pipe I used if you look at my images. Additionally, you'll notice a sooty area on the wall close to the location of the pipe. That is where I had been using the stove for a few days before purchasing the pipe. Smoke from the pipe I bought doesn't even remotely leak into the space. I was wanting to replace my old wood stove with a new one. Looking for something a little bigger with a longer burn time required some investigation. The unit met the requirements.When I ordered mine, the merchant assured me that the shipping company would dump the stove where I desired it, but this was not the case. arrived in a truck with no lift gate. A forklift to help me unload the 400-pound beast cost $50 at the last minute. One outside side panel was bent, the packaging was tattered, and the ash pan's frame wouldn't sit flush so the ash pan could slide in.To decrease the load, I would recommend removing all the external panels, the front door, and the fire brick from the burn chamber, as I did. made things a lot simpler to manage. installed quickly in place of the previous stove. I'd suggest firing the unit outside first as your next bit of advice. I didn't, and the paint and other chemicals flooded my home and triggered my smoke detector. I worked around it by mounting a fan in a window. Burning was done a few times, and the scent disappeared.Since there is no grate, starting the fire required some study. Set up your kindling between a couple of small pieces of wood spaced approximately 8" apart, then get going by laying wood across the kindling. It produced a lot of heat quickly and heated up quickly. You can enjoy the fire from the window. The glass is clean after burning for a week. This stove gives me twice as much burn time as my old one, which is what I was hoping for. Very happy. It's disappointing that the fan kit was included with this purchase. The fan is not very strong and doesn't do much to move the heated air around.Overall, I'm happy with the purchase and want to use this heater for a long time.MDS

I paid $699 for this stove from Menards, but I recently saw it there for $649. I bought it to replace a franklin fireplace that was ancient and difficult to manage. It also used up a lot of wood. My installation consists of a 6" pipe on top of the stove that transitions into an 8" triple wall stainless steel pipe before exiting through the roof. It has a very strong draft and is a straight pipe all the way up. The stove is simple to assemble, and the door fits snugly and perfectly. Making the door dual-directional so it can hinge in either direction is one modification I would suggest for Vogelzang. I had to open up the home to let the smell of the paint go after the stove's first firing. The paint needed around four firings to cure. When run on high, the accompanying blower is a little on the noisy side but does a decent job of blowing air around the stove. Although the stove's ash drawer is convenient, I don't use it; instead, I simply shovel out a small amount of ash each day. I've discovered that in order to start the stove, I need to add some paper and little kindling and leave the door open until it starts to roar. At that point, I can close the door and adjust the air intake. The stove can burn rather huge chunks of wood, but I've discovered that for the optimum performance, you should use a lot of smaller pieces. The secondary burn chambers at the top of the stove recover enormous quantities of heat as they burn gases as they travel towards the chimney. Once it is up and going, this stove will completely heat my 2000 square foot home. Another significant benefit is that I now use half the amount of wood I always did. To start the stove going in the morning, just add some kindling before throwing in some logs, close the door, and leave it alone—it will easily maintain heat and coals for eight hours.I highly suggest this stove because of its functionality and appearance. Since the heat from the combustion box cooks the soot off, the glass door stays clean. Five A stars.
