I was a little anxious when I bought it because there were no reviews.Wow, what a surprise when that thing finally showed up today. It is so lovely! The sounds, the quality, and the colors are all superb. Considering that the actual ones cost $350 or more, it is absolutely worth the money.It was pretty simple to put together. All you need to do is hang the cones and pendulum, set the time, and add batteries. When the adorable bird comes back, a brief tune begins to play. Twelve of the songs are children's song lyrics. It's simply wonderful.My son adores this purchase, and I am very happy with it. You can hear and see how it sounds in the video I've included.

A few of things: everything but the bird on the clock is made of wood, not plastic. In contrast to what is depicted in the images, the dial is white. The clock resembles the official photograph very closely. The wood has a good polish that isn't overly glossy, and it is a deep chocolate brown color. The wood carvings are passable, but the level of detail is far below that of an actual black forest clock (and so is the cost:)). A genuine, certified cuckoo clock from Germany with these characteristics would cost more than $1,000. This one lacks the intricate carvings and intricacies of a genuine cuckoo clock, and the wood contours lack a sense of depth. Given the weight, hanging the clock on the wall just requires a single nail, and setting it up was really straightforward. The music lacks high frequencies and sounds different from a Swiss music box, but the cuckoo sound is fine (although I don't like the echo). In general, I would put the clock in a private location like a bedroom or corridor rather than as the focal point of a formal living room. I would rate this as a fair value for the money considering the size, the features, and the wooden appearance and feel.

Our favorite clock in the house, by far, is this one. Get it if you and your family are ardent NBC fans. Well worth the money! This clock is great. However, you should hang it carefully and replace the batteries because it is very fragile. We still adore it a year after I meticulously followed the instructions. All year long, we keep this up, and whenever it goes off, my kids are the first ones to go over to see it.

The "Cuckoo" is recorded; when it sounds off, it somewhat resembles an aquatic environment. A little confusingly, it also double cuckoos for each hour. You become used to it even though the first cuckoo is a little louder than the second. However, the clock itself is lovely and well worth the cost.

I really love this clock, which I bought. The only issue I had was that it took me three tries to find a working clock. However, Amazon makes the swap procedure quick and simple.The small bird that emerges from this wooden clock is just loud enough to enjoy. The clock features a light sensor underneath the number 12, so when there is not enough light, the cuckoo will end automatically. With the exception of the batteries, assembly was simple. The clock actually takes three "C" batteries, despite claims to the contrary made online and in the instructions. The instructions weren't as clear, but I was able to figure it out. Although the vendor was difficult to deal with, Amazon offered excellent customer service. It wasn't always easy to ask a question and receive an accurate answer.Let me just say that even though a lot of unpleasant things happened leading up to receiving this clock, now that I have one that works, I truly like it. I give this functional clock four stars. I give Amazon four stars, but I give the vendor only three because they could do better.
