Even though I purchased this device months ago, I was finally inspired to install it today. I purchased it for my 8 x 16-foot storefront's single window. I made sure it will fit by measuring the width of the window before placing the order. No issue. I failed to take into account the height of the window opening. Big issue. To cover the hole, I had to fully remove the metal window and use "fancy" carpentry. It succeeded. Functional but unattractive.The weight prevented me from being motivated to install this unit. I was worried about harming myself since there was nobody to assist. I came up with a two-step procedure in which I lifted the unit halfway before setting it on a stool. I then lifted it the last bit into the window sleeve that was already there. It performed flawlessly. The apparatus is not very heavy.This unit would install as simple as any window unit if I had a typical wooden window. perhaps even simplerI'm running the unit right now, and I'll let you know how it goes. Here in SC, it is hot.

Quick update: Over the weekend, it was in the upper 90s here. Every night, an hour or so before I went to bed, I turned on the air conditioning. When set to "high cool" and a 6 out of 7, it would cool the room from close to 80 to the mid-70s in an hour. That made it easy to get to sleep. After switching the sound to "low cool," I immediately fell asleep. The first night, when I woke up in the middle of the night, I was truly chilly, so I changed the temperature setting to 5 out of 7. That appeared to be ideal. It was cozy the entire night.Once again, this is for a solitary, compact space. These are placed in 2 rooms that are 150–200 square feet apiece. When they're jogging, we keep the doors closed. You'll probably be extremely content if you find what you're looking for! The upstairs of my home keeps warm even at night when the temperature in the South is in the 90s for several weeks at a time. I purchased these to improve the bedrooms' sleeping comfort.They are compact and only big enough for one room. One person can easily move them from the porch to the location you wish to install them, which is convenient. They aren't particularly heavy. I successfully got mine upstairs. Additionally, installation is pretty easy. The top bracket and side panels are included in the kit, so you don't need anything extra. You could purchase a support bracket if you so like, but it is not a hefty item and is therefore not required.I spent an hour total installing. For my window frame, I made a brief trip to the hardware shop to pick up an extra piece of wood. You'll need a piece of wood if the outside storm window frame is a little taller than the interior window sill. The instruction booklet goes into detail about this. Once we had that, drilling a few holes and putting it up took little time. The air conditioner is stable and feels quite secure. If you want to get fancy, it also has weather stripping, but we'll just keep the bedroom doors closed, so I didn't take extra precautions.The appliance is surprisingly quiet! Probably helped was the extra piece of wood we added to the window sill. However, it sounds like something I could easily sleep through. There is no rattling. But bear in mind that it does produce noise and that this is not a $500 air conditioner! The fact that it makes the air cool and joyful makes the noise only calming.

This was first tested on a counter top over the weekend before being placed today. The remote is reliable, it cools quite well, and it is actually rather quiet. It appears to be rather well crafted (no way to know the quality of internal parts such as compressor, of course - only time will tell). however, the first impressions are favorable (thus a 4-star rating, not a 5-star rating by any means).The trouble spots are now. NO printed instructions are provided. I couldn't even discover a paragraph or two printed on the box telling the owner where to GET instructions for use or installation. That is unacceptable to me (and almost rated it a 3-star product). I don't see how a business could decide to completely exclude all usage or installation instructions! The lack of a manual may have simply been an error on the assembly line, but I thoroughly searched the box and all enclosed parts envelopes and found no manual at all (aside from brief instructions for the remote and a small portion of the unit that do not pertain to the installation of the main a/c unit).My own online research revealed that this ostensibly brand-new model isn't even mentioned on the business' website. However, I made a visual comparison using the BTU rating and related model numbers and eventually discovered what seemed to be quite appropriate instructions for the device, which I downloaded and printed.Be warned that this is not intended to be fitted in an aluminum-framed window but rather in a conventional wooden window frame. In order for the folding side panels to function somewhat well in the window where it is presently situated, I had to make a few adjustments to increase the height. It was necessary to utilize a little "yankee engineering," and this installation did not call for using the side pieces' provided mounting hardware. But in the end, it performed admirably. Due to the rather unconventional installation, I'll need to purchase more insulation in a couple places (a large plus: a very significant amount is actually included in the packing).In general, the unit works extremely well, cools rapidly, and was not overly challenging to install even for someone who has never installed a window A/C before, therefore I choose to give it a 4-star rating (just minimal help from a 2nd person to help steady the unit at a couple of points in the installation). Especially for women or older people, it can be quite heavy for one person. I am over 70 and could manage it, but it would be difficult. Although the second person does not need to be particularly strong, they should be useful in steadying the unit during installation, handing tools as you install it, etc. This is not a 1-person operation.It will preserve its 4-star rating provided that it continues to work well after the manufacturer's 1-year warranty expires or that the manufacturer's warranty policies and procedures are good. The review will be updated (and degraded) if it breaks down too soon or if the company warranty policy proves to be unfriendly. Once you figure out how to install it and how the controls work (which are also poorly documented even in the instructions I eventually found for a comparable model), or alter it for a non-standard (i.e., non-wooden) window frame, it's a very pleasant item as of initial installation and use. But even there, a little creativity can solve the issue. Bottom line: after properly installed and you get used to using it, it's a wonderful smaller-room A/C unit for the price.

Even at maximum speed, it is much quieter than I anticipated, which is wonderful. It effectively regulates temperature in the wide area I put it in, which has old windows completely covering three sides of the room. Although I don't yet understand how the heat operates, when the heat is on, it warms up very rapidly. Very pleased with the purchase and prompt delivery.

A new home in Arizona almost never comes with central air conditioning. I do have a good central air conditioning system in my home, which is such. The drawback is that Central Air does not account for all rooms, some of which are individually heated. Due to the amount of work it receives and the fans that are continually circulating heat out of the computer, my computer raises the temperature in a room by 8–12F.This device mounts on a vertical and horizontal windowsill. One instruction change is needed for installation with brackets: the majority of the unit needs to be within the house so that if it falls, it will land inside the house rather than out the window. It took me about 45 minutes to install this, but I am a do-it-yourselfer and believe that most people could accomplish it more quickly and safely. On how to install this unit, there are many videos online as well as helpful instructions. At 5000 BTU, the power is respectably high, and noise is present but not very disruptive. Although it is generally less effective than Central Air, the device is still a workhorse if you only need to spot cool a room.

I got two of them for my sister who lives in North Carolina where power outages are frequent and often hot. They have a malfunctioning central air system. Since moving into our basement apartment, the air conditioner hasn't done a good job of maintaining a comfortable temperature; it would either be too cold or too hot. After operating that air conditioner for a while, we determined it needed to be replaced with one that could better control the temperature and use less energy. After comparing several window air conditioners, learning more about BTUs, and reading reviews, we chose to buy the Frigidaire FFRE0633S1 6,000 BTU Window-Mounted Mini-Compact Air Conditioner.Should the necessity arise, this Frigidaire appliance is light enough to be installed by one person in reasonable physical condition. However, you should exercise caution when handling the appliance's back because the metal there is prone to bending. It included screws to secure everything in place as well as the components needed to fill in the gaps on the sides of the air conditioner. Any of the device settings can be easily managed from a distance using the provided remote control. You can witness for yourself how much quieter this functions than the unit we previously used by watching our noise demonstration, which was recorded from a distance of about three feet. Our 350 square foot home/office can stay comfortably cool thanks to the air that permeates the entire space. When not actively cooling and in econ mode, the device will periodically turn on the fan to circulate the air in the room to determine the current temperature.
