That one, the cheap crap bracket that was included with the pricey weather vane. The "universal" mount that was incapable of supporting a straw on a roof? When I ordered the fairly pricey weather vane and this mount so they would arrive at the same time, I had this suspicion. As expected, the weather vane's mount and the jewellery screws that were intended to secure it to the roof were both useless. There was a lot of frustration averted because this mount is robust enough to swing from and is bolted down. Get this one as a favour to yourself.

We built a rock wall at our beachfront home with holes every five feet for solar lights. This easily slipped into one of the gaps. Please, if you intend to use a roof mount, purchase the mounting kit. One of the things I appreciate is that when the wind dies, it continues in the direction it was going. I can't wait to see it in a few more months as the salt air has already begun to patina it. And you will understand why we chose the chicken if you have ever gone to Kauai:) These people have a variety of additional options, so I'm hoping I can persuade my spouse to also place one on the street side.

It just arrived today and was readily installed, so far so good. The only thing keeping me from giving it five stars is the fact that they include concrete anchors, which is how they plan for this to be fixed according to the directions, but they could very well include eight decent-sized wood screws as well for standard roof installation. The product is well-built, and the hinges enable installation on a variety of roof types or angles. This works wonderfully for mounting my PWS, and I highly recommend it. Once all the hinges and set screws are tightened, it becomes very study. If you are placing this on anything other than a flat concrete roof, be sure you are ready to supply your own mounting hardware.

I purchased this using my husband's credit card, therefore I'm writing this review on his behalf. For my 6'L 5'H 3'W chicken coop, I purchased this. It is the ideal size. I'll upload a photo. simple to install I made holes in advance, filled them with transparent, waterproof silicone, and fastened the base with screws. Any angle peak or flat top post can be supported by the base (one arm goes on side of post and other goes in top, or both on top depending on size of post). To prevent the vane from tilting you one side or the other, make sure to tighten the bolt immediately above the base. Prior to fastening them into position and adding them to the vane, double check that N, S, E, and W are pointing in the proper directions. I'll include installation photos. Sturdy. high caliber. Happy with the goods a lot.

decent product came with a minor casting flaw at the vane spindle's base, preventing the vane from freely spinning. The error was fixed with a file in two minutes. I also had to provide my own screws. Other than that, ideal for my use.One thing to keep in mind is that this vane directs attention to the direction the wind is coming from, NOT the direction it is blowing.

A wonderful weathervane. After handling it, I can see that it is constructed of steel but has a copper-colored powder coat. Simple sliding of the three pieces onto one another and tightening with a flat head screwdriver made assembly easy (total of 1 minute). To make the anemometer spin more easily, it features a ball bearing ring. The rotating arrowhead is made out of a rod inside a cylinder. Before mounting it on the roof of my chicken coop, I gave the moving parts a little coat of lubricating oil. Easy to install. The mounting bracket is pre-bent, but it is simple to bend it by hand to match the contour of your roof ridge. After screwing it into the roof, I was able to further adjust it by gently pushing it with my bare hands. The anemometer has been freely spinning, and it has a fantastic appearance and instantly indicates the wind direction. I'm concerned that the steel and ball bearings may corrode from prolonged exposure to the elements; I expect that this will happen after 2-3 years, but I'll cross my fingers. This weather vane is a terrific deal compared to the solid copper versions sold here because you could have four of them for the price of one.
