Best Medical Scissors & Shears in 2020

EMT Trauma Shears with Carabiner - Stainless Steel Bandage Scissors for Surgical, Medical & Nursing Purposes - Sharp Curved Scissor is Perfect for EMS, Doctors, Nurses, Cutting Bandages (Blue) Review:

I don’t write very many reviews, but I feel that this product deserves my time. I am was a combat medic in Iraq. I have 16 years in the military currently I’m a CRNA.

These trauma shears are the best that I’ve ever come across in my military and professional life.

1. The size of the shears. Obviously bigger shears are going to give you more leverage but I’m not just talking about that. I know that there are a few $70 shears, but the issue with those they are too big and weight too much to carry on your scrubs/Uniform. My opinion the way that these are designed with the carabiner to fit on your scrubs or combat uniform is perfect. They are light enough to not pull down your pants, but still give you enough substance to cut through anything.

2. These SOBs will cut through anything!! Honest to God, you do not want to full around. You will cut off your finger!

3. The carabiner designed on the handle is well-placed and adds more utility to these trauma shears. I think the carabiner puts these over the edge in terms of utility and versatility. They fit right onto your scrubs simple to use, easy access, you don’t have to just throw them in your pocket.

4. Value. When I buy, I’m looking for the best value I can get for the money. These have to be that some of the best money spent for a medical professional. Honestly, they don’t cost much more than a latte and you can get the best scissors you will even owned.

Madison Supply - Medical Scissors, EMT and Trauma Shears, Premium Quality 7.5" - Fluoride-Coated with Non-Stick Blades 1-Pack Review:

First impressions are fantastic. Note that I'm not a medical professional and I have no other experience with trauma shears. That said, I had pretty high expectations of these when I ordered them and when they arrived, they exceeded my expectations. Build quality seems to be fantastic. They're tight in all the right places, and easy to operate. They feel great in-hand (I'm not a big guy and wear size M nitrile exam gloves.

It just so happened that I needed to cut some heavy duty nylon webbing (seat belt type fabric) shortly after these came. I ended up using the shears to test them out and they cut great. I have a pair of old leather shoes I'm about to retire and I'll be sure to test the shears on those when the time comes; I actually think they'll cut through them pretty easily.

As nice as they are, I wish I would have gotten the uncoated stainless 2-pack instead. Just after a few dry cuts it was wearing the coating off from the high friction cutting points. This was admittedly expected, since really no coating would hold up to that, but my suspicions were confirmed. The coating is great for short term, but it will likely wear prematurely. Not worth docking a star, since it was expected (and as far as I'm concerned, unavoidable).

White Coat Titanium-Bonded EMT Trauma Shears – 7 ¼” Black Medical Bandage Scissors with LED Pen Light Pupil Gauge for Nurses, EMS, Medical Students, Emergency Room Review:

I have a sensor that I have to wear on the back of my upper arm. Very awkward location. To keep the sensor safe, I use a large sensor-cover bandaid (SimPatch), and the SimPatch needs to last for 10 days. It needs trimming as the edges lose their stickiness or become frayed. Imagine trying to cut the edges off a bandaid, while looking in a mirror to see it on the back of your upper arm. Not easy. I'd poked myself with other scissors, that were not designed to easily and cleanly cut the bandaid. These have a safety end, where I cant prick myself with the tip, and they cut cleanly first go. These are perfect for my need.

LISTER BANDAGE SCISSORS 5.5" MULTI COLOR RAINBOW COLOR STAINLESS STEEL (A2ZSCILAB BRAND) Review:

I work in ER as a vet tech and these are fantastic. Just for sharp reference- I bought these along w the suture scissors in October-Nov 2018? Its Feb 2019 now and they are still working like brand new. No sharpening needed. They aren't a cheap material either. I haven't had any wear of the color either. I use these multiple times a day, they get real dirty too sometimes. These are your standard scissors for size, they aren't the huge ones, and aren't the tiny ones- perfect!

RISEMART Medical Bandage Scissors and Pen Light(Batteries Include) with Pupil Gauge, EMT-7 1/4" Trauma Shears for Nurses, EMS, Medical Students, Emergency Room Review:

This set is great. It comes with the bandage scissors as well as the nurse's pen light with batteries and also even an extra light bulb. It has a lot of stuff for the low price. I am not a nurse or in need of medical supplies, I actually got the scissors for my daughter, because they are safer than regular scissors but much sharper than little kid scissors. I feel like they are a good middle-ground so she can make the projects she wants but still keep her fingers safe.

The little flashlight is perfect to keep in my purse, it would also be good to keep in the car just in case.

Ever Ready Titanium Bonded Bandage Shears 7 1/4" Bent, Tactical Stealth Black Review:

These are really nice! They work great! I'm a nurse so I don't use them like a medic or anything like that. The color is point on. Looks exactly like the image provided. My only problem with them and again it's because I don't use them as someone like a medic would, is that they are heavier than I would like and bulky. But if you have scrub pants with leg side pockets they are perfect placed there! But when I have them in my scrub top pockets it just feels too heavy and bulky! Product works great!! 4/5 stars just for the issues above!

Medical and Nursing Lister Bandage Scissors 5.5" - Stainless Steel - Perfect for Surgeries, Medical Care and Home Nursing - by Utopia Care(Pack of 1) Review:

For young kids, finding scissors that cut well and meet school guidelines isn't easy. Most scissors for kids don't cut worth diddly.

These bandage scissors meet school safety requirements and do an excellent job of cutting. They are heavy duty. After a few minutes of adjustment, my niece was cutting like a pro.

Both tips are blunt and the edges are sharp. They are easy to use for most adults and children. If you have large hands, your fingers may be difficult to get in-and-out of the handle holes.

Cutting construction paper and poster board goes much easier.

The edges appear as if they can be sharpened by hand or a small wedge device.

PhysiciansCare by First Aid Only 90294 Titanium Non-Stick First Aid Bandage Shear, 4" Bent, Blue Review:

These tiny scissors are exactly what I was looking for. I am a nursery RN and when I discharge infants home I have to cut off their security bands. I was using much larger scissors and the parents were horrified when I came near their brand-new babies with those big scissors. So, I purchased these scissors. These are small, fit in my scrub pocket, and do not terrify parents. They are perfect for cutting security bands and other small jobs.
What these would not be appropriate for, are bigger jobs like cutting clothes off adults in an emergency.

The size may be smaller than one might be expecting. They easily rest in the palm of my hand without spreading over the side (I use size small gloves at work, and can fit extra small if I had to). They are nice and sharp, though.
