Do roof racks damage your car?

While roof racks can be very convenient for carrying extra gear on long trips, they can also cause damage to your car if not used properly. The weight of the rack and gear can put strain on your car's roof, and the rack itself can scratch or dent the paint. If you're not careful, you can even damage the car's windshield. So, while roof racks can be helpful, be sure to use them wisely to avoid any damage to your car.

How much weight can roof racks hold?

Most roof racks can hold between 50 and 150 pounds, depending on the specific rack and the car it is being installed on. Many factors such as wind resistance and the strength of the roof rack itself will contribute to how much weight it can hold. It is always best to consult the specific rack's weight limit before loading it up.

How wide is a luggage rack?

A luggage rack is typically 18 to 24 inches wide, but can vary depending on the manufacturer.

Winsome 92436 Luggage Rack with Shelf Review:

We now have two of these, and both my husband and I travel extensively. They greatly simplify both packing and unpacking.1) High-quality components and design2) Powerful supports large luggage that are overstuffed. great with smaller ones as well.3) Beautiful. Even simply looking at it is more pleasant than the alternative, though perhaps a cheap, aluminum rack could achieve the same result.4) For the most part, folds and stores easily. Cons are listed below.CONS: 1) When folded, a little magnet on the bottom rack is supposed to keep it in place. They are not enough, and the bottom keeps falling. It truly irritates me. Finally, we secured it with some Velcro loops, but it SHOULD remain in place without them.(If you found my review useful, please click the "Helpful" option to let me know. Many thanks for reading! Whitmor Chrome Luggage Rack - Foldable - Commercial Quality Review:

Okay, so you might be wondering, "Why do I need this, because I don't own a hotel. Let me tell you why.I'm obsessed with white; I adore it. My guest room has a white duvet, carpet, cushions, etc., much like my bedroom. When my father arrives, he often wheels his suitcase inside before dumping everything on the bed—yes, on my white duvet. He now places his suitcase here, which drives me crazy, but he will never know that I already told my mother about it because she knew better;)I can now say to visitors, "You may leave your suitcase here," and I no longer have to worry about having muddy wheels on my white duvet. If your guest bed has one of those handmade quilts, you need it even more!

Kings Brand Furniture - Chrome / Black Metal Foldable High Back Luggage Rack Review:

Two of these were purchased by us to utilize in our own packaging. They are much heavier, bigger, and less flimsy than the more ornamental wooden ones with fabric straps. They are incredibly strong, flat, and made of bright chrome. They aren't particularly fancy, but they are functional and have a somewhat industrial aesthetic. They are far better than placing bags on the bed or having them sway on our older, far more beautiful stands. Both large and small suitcases fit in them.

Casual Home Luggage Rack with Shelf, Espresso Review:

Extremely sturdy, lovely finish, secure webbing attachment, folds up or down effortlessly, really hard wood, and I ADORE the solid wooden tray underneath. I wanted to treat my visitors nicely. The height of this is 22", or just above my knee. I'm 5'7". I would recommend the higher stand because I purchased another one EXACTLY like it (Winsome 92436) that is 19" tall (just before the kneecap). Greater ergonomics (I have a masters in ergonomics). For the user, this implies less bending to fit into a luggage. The two ball hinges on either side of the tray that secure it when folded up, as well as those inside the stand legs, are the main drawbacks. The tray could fall while in transit because they aren't incredibly robust. Though most people don't move things around much and it's not really difficult to carry, it's not a significant dealbreaker. The Winsome is a very dark (Jacobean) brown, whilst this stand is a dark reddish brown.

Winsome Remy Shelf Luggage Rack, Cappuccino Review:

For a setup for a holiday rental, I got 4 of these. Ideally, it will prevent luggage from scuffing up the lovely bedding. It is more fashionable than anything I've used in most hotels. Despite the fact that the wood is lightweight and the weight rating is 75 pounds, I have never packed a suitcase that heavy. They are packaged and fully built. Cut the box open, remove the bundle from the poly bag, cut the straps holding it together, and fold it open. The bottom shelf is designed to be held in place by magnets when being folded and stowed. They are insufficient for that objective. It should ideally be extended, placed where you want it, and left alone. However, it will be an issue for you if this is folded and put away in between usage. No cracks or breaks were visible on my pieces, and the straps are well-sewn (not stapled). No full-size luggage is accessible to me to examine, however it holds a carryon size luggage neatly and securely. looks lovely where it is.Before long-term usage, I do recommend, would purchase again, and would gift this item.4.5 out of 5 stars overall; one star deducted for the subpar magnet on the bottom shelf.

SONGMICS URLR64B-2 Luggage Rack, Black Review:

These baggage racks are incredibly durable, and the pricing for two of them is unbeatable. It just took me a few minutes to put both of them together because they were so easy to assemble. I am quite happy with them and had no problems with twisted or missing parts, as some other reviews did. What I was looking for, exactly. Aside from inserting the legs, aligning the holes, and fastening with bolts, the assembly instructions consisted of of images and had three steps. I did this so that I could get it to stand up on its own while I attached the two legs that cross, and then I tightened everything up. I did this by attaching 1 leg at a time to the top by partially screwing in the bolt. Pretty basic. Definitely would purchase again. The shipment is also quite quick.

Casual Home Heavy Duty 30" Extra-Wide Luggage Rack Review:

Since purchasing this luggage rack, we've had two different groups of visitors. Our visitors find it to be effective. The first visitor we had had a single huge suitcase, and the second had two smaller carry-on-sized luggage. The latter had them both stacked side by side on the rack. We have been happy thus far. Additionally, it folds flat for simple closet storage.(If you order last-minute, like I do, this came on the day it was supposed to. This is crucial.)

Winsome Wood 92420 Scarlett Storage/Organization, Espresso, Espresso Review:

In order to get ready for two sets of guests arriving simultaneously, I recently had to fully remodel the guest room in my home.I thought I had considered everything a visitor may need, including this clock radio with an iPhone dock:Along with this clock on the opposite side of the bed, iHome offers the iDL45BC Lightning Dock Clock Radio/Alarm with USB Charge for iPod, iPad, and iPhone. Both the Timex RediSet Dual Alarm Clock with Dual USB Charging - Black (T129B) and the Extreme Battery Backup include USB connections, allowing my guests to charge any devices they were carrying (I provided all sorts of charging cables too).So that visitors can utilize the drawers and the space for hanging clothes, I even have a sweet small antique wardrobe in the guest room.I believed that I had considered everything. After a beautiful 4-day visit, as the first group of guests prepared to depart, I asked them, "Had there anything I missed, that you wished was in the guest room? I truly wanted to make sure you had everything you could desire or need while you were here."They said, "The only thing lacking was one of those racks for suitcases, so we could put our suitcase on it."DOH!My guest room is now complete because I ordered two of them (one for each side of the bed, for each guest's bag).

SONGMICS Metal Folding Luggage Rack Black URLR64B Review:

I picked this one because of the price, and while it works okay for light use, I can only give it three stars because it doesn't fold entirely flat and doesn't store nicely. If I had taken note of that, I would have chosen a different product.UPDATE: Songmics called me right away, and after some investigation, it was discovered that while mine did indeed fold shut, it did so only after a significant push. It now shuts better after I loosened both leg bolts by approximately a quarter-inch; it's still not ideal, but it will do for my planned purpose as an overnight quilt rack, so I'm happier with it. Even though I'm still able to use the product, Songmics quickly investigated my complaint, offered to replace the rack, and ultimately refunded the full purchase price. As a result, I'm happy to give them the two missing stars. Even the simple things occasionally go wrong, but backing it up and making it right isn't always the case.

AmazonBasics Wooden Folding Suitcase Luggage Rack Stand with Shelf - Espresso Review:

Like they should, they collapse. Two pairs of shoes can fit on the bottom rack. The piece is constructed from sturdy FAUX wood (synthetic wood not real wood).I checked the cost of actual wood at the nearby lumberyard. I just bought the rack because if you buy the wood and components to create this, the cost of the wood and components is around what the full rack costs.Because they are constructed of FAUX wood (synthetic), not maple, oak, mahogany, or hard pine, the only problem I can see is durability. The first hard hit on the rack will shatter something, according to past experience with FAUX wood, necessitating a repair job.Who knows, it might last longer than I do.
