To keep them in place, each has some sort of non-slip rug pad underneath.This most recent purchase from Amazon was made to replace one of the kinds that DOES NOT WORK and was probably made at Home Depot but is widely available. According to my experience, items like this Epica with a large surface area perform far better than those with thinner or more widely separated components. These grippers were just delivered, and I adore them! Initially, I taped two long runner rugs down on hardwood floors with two-sided non-skid sticky tape. When I vacuumed the rugs, the tape tried to come up a little, but it still held. The process of measuring each strip, attaching one to each end of the two rugs, and then attaching another strip to the floor was a little challenging. The rugs were also quite difficult to move around if necessary. I was concerned that the tape might eventually leave a sticky film on the floors. While looking for anything else, I just came across this product and decided to give it a shot. One gripper pad was very simple to place in each runner's four corners, and it seemed to cling securely, but I can still easily lift and move the rugs. The old non-skid tape was also creating a sticky residue on the floor after only two months, which I discovered when I peeled it up. I've always thought using rug pads is a good idea. I work as a nurse and give elderly patients in-home care. I always scan the area when I first enter a patient's home to check for potential dangers. 100% felt rug pad that's secure for all surfaces 7' x 10' Extra Thick Material Provides Cushion, Comfort, and Protection I really like this for my wooden floors' area rug. I purchased another brand that was advertised as being non-slip for rugs on wooden floors, but it had a very scratchy side. If that side had been downward, the wood would have been harmed. In my opinion, it would have been too harsh for the oriental rug if that side had been up against the rug, and the hand knotting would have become worn. This is perfect. It's possible that a relatively small area rug (say, 1 x 2 or 2 x 3) will slide underneath a running dog. possibly not It has enough thickness to feel good underfoot. I feel secure knowing that the rug is shielded from undue wear. It was cut little larger than the stated size, which I also enjoy. Many rug pads are undercut for some reason. I had no trouble using regular scissors to trim this down.

I'm very happy I purchased these. Since the liners aren't great in my opinion, I decided I would try something else for my nursery because the one I had was too small and I kept tripping over the corners (which doesn't seem safe for a pregnant person, and even less safe for person carrying baby). (For instance, when a dog pursues a ball down the hallway, she drags the rug with her even though it has a "no slip" lining.)I bought these, tested them on the corners of the baby rug, and then used them. It did not move at all when I tried to trip myself by sending a robovac around.The dogs always move the doormat by our back door and the hallway rug mentioned above because Florida Race Greyhound speed is the only permitted speed to enter our home. I took the remaining ones right away.I quickly placed another set on order and am getting rid of all of my old rug liners. I might even purchase additional rugs now.NOTE: The illustration uses two of them per corner, for a total of eight per rug. I believe the vendor is experimenting with the hot dog vs. hot dog bun argument because it comes in a pack of 12. Why sell enough to use on 1.5 rugs when you need 8 per rug? I had previously bought a comparable item from a nearby shop, and it had done nothing. So, like I normally do, I turned to Amazon and decided to give this a shot. It got excellent reviews and a fair price. I'm very happy I bought it. My 5x7 area rug in the living room rests on my slick hardwood floor, and when my two large breed dogs rush from one end of the house to the other, they slide and slide. I was a little concerned because the pad is not exactly as pictured and is more of an open weave pattern, but nothing to worry about. I placed the rug on top after setting it down. I cut one border a little shorter because it was a little bigger than my rug. I adore how it nearly completely fits under the rug now and stops slipping.
