A Ring video doorbell was what I wanted to install. I went to the Ring website and viewed a number of installation tutorial videos. I'm glad I did because it was advised to have a transformer with a minimum 30VA rating. Mine only had 10VA. I therefore read the reviews of transformers and decided on this Honeywell type. The 40VA was more than sufficient, and the cost was excellent. The packaging was excellent, and the instruction booklet included excellent illustrations. Before switching them out, make sure to turn off the transformer's electricity. This should be simple if you've done any type of electrical wiring. The transformer was packaged with a metal face plate adapter with a number of configuration options that you could attach to your outlet box. Unfortunately, none of them functioned with the previous owners' jury-rigged setup, so I had to change the attachment points to make it mount to the outlet box. It wasn't difficult to do this; it just took longer to install the transformer. Anyway, both my mechanical doorbell and the Ring doorbell function flawlessly. I am receiving a fairly strong signal at the doorbell because it is situated around 25 feet away from my Google mesh network box.

If you want to directly power a Ring Pro Doorbell without using an existing doorbell chime or transformer, this transformer is exactly what you need. My idea was to use this transformer along with the Ring Pro Doorbell and the Ring Chime in the absence of an existing doorbell chime/transformer. For this particular design, the support materials on the Ring website are a little unclear because some of them mention the requirement to install an in-line resistor to replicate the resistance of the old doorbell chime. However, I was able to verify through additional study that this is not required for the Ring Pro Doorbell (only the non-pro Ring Doorbell).To connect the transformer to the Ring Pro Doorbell, however, you will simply need some cable. The Ring app indicates that the electricity to the doorbell is "very good" once I've connected everything. (Also, confirm that the Ring Pro Doorbell receives a strong wi-fi signal. You shouldn't experience any issues with your Ring Pro Doorbell if your electricity and wi-fi signal strength are adequate.)

If I could, I would give the product 4.9 stars out of 5 because of a little flaw: either the product's labeling is incorrect or it is just counter-intuitive. It is labeled "TV" on one end and "Cable" on the other. With the wire flowing into the other end, labeled "cable," and the adapter attached to the back of my Spectrum digital cable box (made by Arris), I connected it. I was unable to access a number of stations, and the box wouldn't properly reboot. After switching up the installation, I rebooted the computer and everything was fine. On this TV, the sound is excellent and the picture is the best it has ever been. TV and computer are connected, and both are working properly. The device carries out its intended function exactly. So I'd just advise anyone who purchases this to try it the other way if it doesn't work the first time.

My thermostat and AC failed in the middle of the summer. After investigating, I found that the Basler transformer had failed. Unfortunately, only a 120v transformer is available at the large box local home improvement stores. I don't see why they don't sell a transformer that can handle various volts, like this 120/208/240. I would have paid for same-day or next-day delivery if Amazon had offered it; I wish they had. Amazon, please!I replaced my previous 208/240v unit with this one when it arrived two days later, and I was back to living in a cool environment! When looking for a replacement transformer for your appliance, you simply need to make sure that the input and output voltages match; otherwise, they are all identical.

I went through every one of the negative reviews for this transformer that mention the Ring Pro doorbell/camera. There is a lot of rubbish about 24V AC being too much power and damaging existing doorbells and other devices from too much energy. A few people reported having dead or ineffective units, which may happen to ANY powered gadget.To the jerk who supposedly wrecked a $300 doorbell, READ THE DIRECTIONS first!
