A few years ago, I misplaced my lunch while biking the trails at Dupont State Park. On a very hot day, I reached behind me and unzipped my cantle bag so I could drink some water. However, when I placed the water bottle back, it appears that I did not completely shut the bag. I didn't get off the horse to check it either. A very hungry me was more than a little dismayed to discover no meal in that pitiful cantle bag when we stopped for lunch approximately three hours into our trip. also no water. The riders in front of us must have wondered what they would discover next on the trail. I found everything after going back the way we came, with the exception of my Little Debbie cookie, and I have a hunch as to where it went. There were some backpackers who looked guilty. I ate my sandwich anyhow since I was hungry despite the fact that it had been stepped on. We cover a lot of territory as I ride a Tucker Saddle on a paso fino. The ride is so smooth that I wouldn't even notice if a tractor trailer unloaded off her croup. It was a terrible lesson, and from this point forward I never ride with anything in my cantle bag. When I noticed this pommel pocket, I was thrilled! Ideal for Tucker's equitation and endurance saddles. I just adore it. It nicely fits my water bottle, sandwich, pocket knife, and mobile phone. I purchased orange to make my bay horses more visible. I seriously doubt that any more Little Debbie cookies will go missing.

I'm not sure if I should have awarded this product 4 stars, but for the price, I believe it's an excellent value. I used to purchase SnugPax, but the company is no longer in operation. Simply put, they are not standing. Zippers shred and shatter. I thus tried this pack at a fair price. PROS: contains a LOT of items; sturdy fabric; heavy-duty zipper. now that I've fixed it properly, it doesn't bounce; the back little pockets are useful. Does not include attachment straps. Wish there was a two-way zipper. I already carry water bottles in a pommel pack, so this cantle pack didn't require one. Some individuals appear to have problems connecting. I applied 3 straps (that will tighten down, like what you find in the camping section). Through the crupper ring, one circles around the center. This holds up really well. The other 2 straps then fasten to the side rings and circumnavigate the cinch rings. The holes on the bottom are not used by me. Uncertain of their objectives. I loaded it up with a lead rope, rain gear, an emergency kit, a feed bag, a sierra saw, a riding fly mask, goodies, a knife, and a hoof pick. It has my approval. Hope it endures.

In order to keep the small essentials like a hoof pick, a small pocketknife, roll-on insect repellent (for my horse, though I'm sure I could use it in a pinch as well), and other items that I'm sure I'll think of along the way, I should mount a very sturdy, the perfect size zip-pack in front of the saddle pommel. It's not designed to hold much, so if I want to eat after the ride instead of returning home, I'll get a bigger bag that mounts behind the cantle. This compact pack is ideal if you simply want to make sure that every time you go for a day ride, you have what you're likely to need (not having a hoof pick while out on a ride motivated me to get this pack).

The only thing I don't really like about them is that they set up too high; as a trail guide, I need to carry a variety of items every day, but having a place for a 2 way radio and the drink pockets is so convenient. I wish there were a few more inches of material across the back so they would ride a bit lower on the horse and I wouldn't have to worry about my leg clearing when I mount.

I rated this spacious, practical saddle bag five stars since I truly enjoy it, however there are three small problems with the description. First, two water bottles that are not part of the bag are shown in the image with the item. This fact should be made abundantly known to the buyer as it may have an impact on their decision to acquire this goods (had I caught this, I would have searched for BPA-free water bottles on your site before I placed my order.) Second, there is no way to secure the water bottle inside the insulated pocket because the exterior pockets that hold the water bottles are substantially larger than the "standard" 16.9 ounce bottles need. The bottom has a single, fixed, 3/4" wide canvas strap that is not adjustable. I advise adding the dimensions to the description as well. Third, I had to get creative to attach the saddle bag to my Wintec 250 saddle because it is difficult to attach to English saddles without D rings. It would have been nice to have had an extra set of detachable straps. I am quite happy with this buy overall.

I can report that after using the saddle bags on multiple horseback rides, we are completely satisfied with them. The extremely strong yet lightweight packs are ideal for day rides. Water bottles may be carried with ease thanks to the handy bottle holders, which are also very simple to grasp when riding without stopping. The web pocket's Velcro closures keep objects you might need to store yet need to access quickly and readily in place. The bags can be fastened to the back of the saddle using the grommets for tie downs, and they will stay in place once they are. Food, first aid supplies, bug repellent, and just about anything else we would need for the day ride fit easily inside the zippered pockets. We typically include a compass, a multi-tool, a sandwich, chips, or other snack, a first aid kit, wipes, a tiny bottle of peroxide, tissues, co-flex, a whistle, a hoof pick, and a tiny flashlight. All of stuff fits neatly and with room to spare in the saddle bags.These saddle bags work great for our day rides, in our opinion. I wouldn't think twice about buying them again. I think these are definitely worth the price on Amazon!

This was purchased to be used on an overnight trek into Arizona's Superstition Wilderness. extremely well held up. I have a horse that is 15.1 hands high, and it did not rub. I had enough space for everything between the cantle bag, the saddlebags, and the pommel bags. This setup is excellent for a simple overnighter.
