I purchased the 175 in the Fireside color and would strongly advise against purchasing plain black because every snowboard bag that hangs on a belt is that color. The first time they shipped it to me, it was damaged, but before it even left the warehouse, I received a full credit. I didn't get to take this backpack on any travels after I bought it at the tail end of winter, but I must say that even before I put it to the test, it seemed like a terrific bag all around. I adore how sturdy the cloth is. It simply has the impression of being well-made. Additionally, it holds everything I need to take with me to the hills. My board and bindings, as well as my boots, gloves, helmet, goggles, and extra lenses secured with a board lock. How well everything fits in its place makes me very happy. The bag's weight and top handle make it easy for me to roll. The wheels appear to have a lengthy lifespan. Even yet, I haven't tried rolling over snow yet, so I'm not sure how it will go. The entire package is easy to carry thanks to the shoulder strap. Although the side handle is functional, I like to utilize the shoulder strap. I needed something quick and this suited the bill. I wanted a means to get my snowboard equipment to my destination without the airlines or TSA messing up anything. I chose this set over another one I considered because it has a padded snowboard bag, which I reasoned could lessen the likelihood of damage when traveling.Snowboard bag: The padding is good, and there is enough space for my board and attached bindings, as well as a helmet and coat. I took the bag's shoulder straps off to prevent them from getting tangled in anything when I handed it to the airline. I could also carry the shorter hand straps over my shoulder because they are sufficiently long. Easy to insert and remove the board thanks to the long zipper.Do you really need a boot bag that isn't padded like the snowboard bag for your boots? Most likely not. Wow is all I have to say. I don't usually write reviews, but this bag absolutely stunned me. Like many other things in snow sports, I am a sucker for name brand equipment, but spending over $200 on a Burton bag was not going to happen, and neither should you!Pros: Extremely durable! Large metal zippers, a waterproof tarp-like interior material, a sturdy canvas exterior, and well-done stitching throughout - excellent rolling wheels - POCKETS! This bag's divisions and pockets are a fantastic addition. Excellent for spare parts, face shields, socks, and gloves. One interior, one sizable in the front, and one with felt lining in the back. I won't be traveling with my gear, but I would feel fully at ease packing this in a plane because of the padding, and lastly, THE SIZE!! But I'll elaborate on that later.Cons: - There are just two size options, which isn't a huge concern, but I could definitely imagine someone being annoyed at a slightly floppy bag. For me, this is a pro because I can fit all of my gear in it. - Shoulder buckles are the only component about which I have my doubts. This backpack weighs a lot because it is fully loaded. I've had bags that tore out the stitching on those clips instead of breaking at the metal clasps. This is something I got for my 12-year-old son who is flying to Schweitzer Mountain to go snowboarding. was concerned that his board would get damaged in the airplane. I searched everywhere online, read a ton of reviews, and decided to purchase this bag as a result of the reviews. The evaluations met expectations. It is sturdy, beautifully padded, simple to use, and appears to be portable. Even his snow-related clothing, such as his coat and pants, has capacity. There isn't place for footwear, but we have a backpack from REI that can store a helmet, boots, goggles, and other accessories. It's decent for the price; I can't speak to its durability, though, like with other cheap goods, treat it well to get your money's worth. I'm relieved that the bag genuinely accommodates the snowboard of the specified length.The primary reason I'm writing this review is to contrast it with this similarly priced High Sierra snowboard sleeve and boot bag set found here: High Sierra Snowboard Sleeve And Boot Bag Combo, Black. The Athletico bags were really a couple dollars cheaper than the High Sierra bags, but they are effectively the same price because I received them tax-free.Board bag: The Athletico bag is advertised as fitting a 165cm snowboard, however it actually fits my 164cm snowboard with bindings with approximately 2 cm to spare. Since the High Sierra bag did not fit my 164, I returned it. I had to stretch the fabric to make it fit, and even then, I had difficulty closing the zipper. Contrary to the High Sierra bag, which only opens on one end and is therefore difficult to use, the Athletico bag's zipper also opens around two-thirds of the way down its length. The Athletico bag has a split handle on each side of the zipper that is joined by velcro and a shoulder strap as well. The High Sierra bag only has one handle, which is divided into two useless portions because the bag doesn't open between them. The Athletico bag fits it just well with the bindings mainly straight up because I have Flow bindings and I leave the ratchet straps set so I can't fold my bindings completely flat without undoing them.Boot bag: Both boot bags comfortably fit my size 12/32 prime boots and my Bern helmet, though I feel like the Athletico boot bag is a tiny bit smaller than the High Sierra one. Unlike the High Sierra, the Athletico bag includes a shoulder strap for the boot bag. An advantage of the Athletico bag is that it has a little mesh elastic pocket on the outside where you might put wet gloves or anything similar.Athletico bags have black exteriors and white zippers, while High Sierra bags are all black. Despite the slight distinction, I like the Athletico bags' contrast.Protection: As other reviews have noted, none of these bags (either brand) has ANY padding; instead, they are just sleeves to hold your luggage together and guard against minor dings when thrown into your car. Since I anticipated this, I won't criticize either person for being slim. However, I do not intend to use these items to check on an airline.Conclusion: This Athletico bag combo beats the High Sierra bag combo in a number of ways, and I paid less for it. Athletico now receives a score of 4.5 out of 5, which indicates that it met my standards for the money. I'll give these bags five stars if I can use them lightly for two years without having to replace them. As a point of perspective, I gave the High Sierra combo a 2/5 and sent it back.

Just the second time I used the item, the clip holding the bag's shoulder strap to the bag snapped on. Now, every time I check a bag with an airline, I have to manually attach the shoulder strap to the bag and then untie it. When I purchased this item, I anticipated getting more than two uses out of it. 2 stars since the item was excellent the two times that I did use it while it was still in working order.EDIT: Without any hesitation, Athletico swiftly mailed me a replacement shoulder strap. This bag was specifically purchased for a recent vacation to Colorado. I wanted a backpack that could withstand airport baggage handling and protect my board. This bag didn't let me down.I debated getting the version that was fully cushioned but ultimately chose the Freestyle, which is merely "padded" on the bottom. Actually just a thick sheet, the padding performed its function. I put my ski trousers and a few sweatshirts below the board and covered the ends in thick packing foam to give it a little extra protection. My 156cm board fit (in terms of length) quite snugly in the 164 bag after all of this. I was able to place my boots and helmet on top of the board, but it took some work to close the bag.Even though the TSA had checked my luggage, I had no problems with the strap snapping, the bag ripping, the zippers not working, etc. The bag still appears to be in excellent condition. This backpack is a solid option for anyone searching for a tough bag to travel a board and equipment because it is well-made.

I owned my Burton bag for nearly ten years before I realized I needed a replacement. They last a very long time, and I put my old bag to good use. This one, which I just bought for this season, did not dissapoint. For a trip to Lake Tahoe, I wanted a board bag that could withstand the brutality of the TSA, so I ordered this one. For the price, it's a good bag; I packed it to the brim and none of the stitches came undone, and the zipper hasn't broken. Although the clips on the bag's strap are of lower quality, they haven't yet broken (I did bring a set of heavy duty carabiners to replace the hooks just in case).You probably won't find a nicer board bag for under $40, according to my summary. For a one-time journey and something I'll only use when I drive up the mountain, this is a terrific backpack. If I flew with my board more frequently, though, I would have spent more money and purchased something that was padded and had rollers.
