I was amazed by the aesthetic quality as soon as I opened the packaging. To test it out on my own pickup, I took it outside to the garage. I touched it to the battery's positive post while grounding it to my body. I quickly realized that the LCD window was facing away from me, and when I tried to correct, the tester stopped operating. At this point, I'm fairly irate. Upon closer inspection, I saw that the cable end screws off, so I took it off to see whether there was an inline fuse, but all that was there was a spring to maintain tension between the cord and the volt meter mechanism. It started operating again with no further hiccups once I washed it up and put it back together.When you're in an inconvenient position and can't shift to see it correctly, the numbers aren't clearly visible until you have the LCD window in the ideal position.Overall, those were the only two drawbacks I encountered with this gadget, which functions somewhat similarly to the Power Probe that I also own. Almost unable to wait to use it!

It's the brand I mostly observe professionals utilising. Even though the sensitivity direction may be improved, the circuit breaker finder is still a useful tool. Compared to the Ideal unit and the Amprobe unit, this unit took a very lengthy time for me to research. Each has some advantages and disadvantages. I choose to use this unit for a number of reasons. One, I liked the size of the screen. After owning it, I can state that this device's one major flaw is that, while having a huge screen, Extech does not utilize it. Actually, there is only one reading active at once. This implies that in order to obtain the necessary readings when testing several outlets, you must scroll through all the pages and subpages. I would really like it if they put a few significant readings on the first page.The cost is the second reason I chose this particular item. I was able to get it when Amazon's pricing went below $200. For the price, this small LAN/Ethernet cable tester is excellent. It does have a slight "cheap" feeling, but that is not a significant concern. Its effectiveness is what matters. You can power it with either a single 9 volt battery or by connecting a micro USB cable to the tester's main body. Use a 9-volt battery that is fully charged if possible. The tester didn't function when I placed one that wasn't fully charged (the tiny LED light did, however, function), but it did so because it had sufficient power to operate the light. The LED light isn't that bright, but I suppose it may come in handy if you were stuck in a dark place. I also enjoy that you can link the two sections together or separate them. The instructions are written in sloppy English and are for a different model tester, so don't waste your time reading them. This is the best option for you if all you need is a reliable, inexpensive cable tester.

It actually working, I can't believe it. Normally, I don't review things, but I thought this one deserved it. Every year, I decorate my house with roughly 2000 lights and two indoor trees with about 500 lights each. I therefore have a few sets that are defective every year. Some of the bulbs are fixed when I check for loose or broken ones, but some just stop working and need to be replaced. Each year, I probably waste two hours trying to fix sets and thirty dollars buying new ones. Christmas is pricey enough without having to replace items that are still in good condition. Although it had excellent reviews on Amazon, I didn't believe it would actually work. I made the decision to attempt it since taking down and replacing a set of lights that had failed after I had decorated would have been a nightmare (they were in a place where it would be much easier to access one bulb with this tool than it would be to take down the whole set). I made the decision to try it. My suspicions were confirmed when I plugged in the tool and pulled the trigger, but the instructions said to pull it up to 30 times, so I did just that. To my astonishment, the set turned on. After replacing the bulb, my house looks fantastic. I already saved $4 and at least 30 minutes of my time out of the $17 I invested. This will save me many hours of wasted time and uncountable amounts of frustration over the years, more than paying for itself ten times over.
