Let me start by saying that a few years ago, I wrote off all home carpet cleaners because, regardless of how pricy or nice they were, they all had the same issue with cleaning them after use. But the worst aspects of that known problem have been removed in the new Bissell design. I've never had such easy access to the brushes and suction tunnels that you do with this machine. Because of how simple it is to clean, I've rejoined the bandwagon of home carpet cleaner users.This unit arrived packaged extremely well, and by extremely well I mean it was in a huge box, inside of which was another large box that filled in the empty space before the product box. There were no surprises because the machine was packaged tightly inside the product box, as you would find with any vacuum or cleaner when you buy one. But Bissell deserves praise for not using a lot of Styrofoam; well done!The four pieces snap together easily, and only one Phillips head screw needed to be installed during assembly. I was able to determine how to disassemble the front section for cleaning after consulting the manual, so I was ready.With the flat design and ease of accessing the ends of beds or furniture, cleaning was a breeze. I also like that the hose and accessories are packaged separately and only need to be connected to the machine when needed, reducing bulk when using the main unit. I want to again praise this section. Using the foot controlled "extra" hot shot was also nice, and the main carpet portion was simple to complete. Basically, there is a foot pedal you can step on to squirt hot cleaner solution on the spot before the machine gets there to help assist with the removal of said spot if you have a spot coming up in front of you.Despite the fact that my dogs were still lying on the couches, the handheld attachments quickly dismantled them. very simple to use and very simple to attach to the machine Most of these things are quite similar if you have ever used a home carpet cleaning machine.The cleanup is next. First off, I LOVE this machine. I did about 500sq ft the first day it was delivered. While I love his pristine and clean it got my carpets, it does have a few quirks.This is the ideal carpet cleaning machine for apartment-dwellers with pets and carpets. Even if you use a “spot eliminator†device like I do, you know eventually you need to clean larger areas of carpet a spot device just can’t handle — or you want to clean the entire carpet in your space.The first thing I noticed was how easy it was to assemble the machine once you get the parts out of the box. One caveat: the cap on the solution/water bottle. Push the inside of the cap out BEFORE you position the bottle (upside-down) in the machine — otherwise it will leak. I learned this after doing the wrong thing on the first fill. This quirk should be addressed on the quick set-up card for impulsive people such as myself.The second thing I immediately noticed was how loud this machine is. It’s louder than most vacuums. I would definitely recommend not using it in the morning or evening — unless you want your neighbors to hate you.Another quirk. The price point means certain “luxury†features are gone. If you hear the noise change, that is telling you either the cleaner/water bottle is empty — or the dirty water tank is full. Fill up the cleaner and dump the dirty tank at the same time. There is no light or other mechanism other than the way the machine sounds to tell you this.Last quirk: the dirty water tank. You press the button from behind the machine and slide it out. The first time I put the handle down and was confused since no other machine I had worked this way. My advice: just take a few minutes to read the instructions.Overall, i’m in love with this machine. If you are on a budget and can forgo luxury features, this machine will be for you. If you like tons of features, you might be disappointed by this particular machine.I love that it’s small and easy to store; if you need to clean more than three large rooms, consider a machine with a wider path. Each room took me about three fills and three times emptying the dirty water tank. If you want a larger capacity machine, look for one with larger tanks and a larger cleaning path.But if you don’t mind a little extra work, this machine is a solid 4.5 stars for me (too bad I can only give 4 on Amazon’s rating — 5 Stars would be too much considering the loudness and quirks).

I wasn't sure if there would be a carpet cleaner strong enough to recover my 25-year-old beige rug that had been used by both people and animals. Introducing the brand-new Bissell Turboclean Powerbrush Pet. I've owned cats for a very long time; currently, our family includes 4 furry members. Since they are indoor cats, our level of mud may be lower than that of people who have indoor/outdoor pets. I was shocked at how much fur was collected, despite routine vacuuming, after using the Bissell.I once owned a Bissell, which was a large, awkward mammoth that did a respectable job and lasted for a while. After renting Rug Doctor machines for about $25 each, I eventually gave up after our neighborhood store stopped carrying them. I was overjoyed to discover this wonderful, simple to use, gem. Despite its unimpressive exterior, it is a full-size upright carpet cleaner and performs better than any other device I've used in the past. Our old rug was actually cleaned so well by it that I almost feel embarrassed to see how dirty it got without routine shampooing. The fact that this machine skillfully suckers up the dirt in front of my eyes makes using it enjoyable. It did an almost flawless job, but just like previous shampooers, it couldn't completely remove stains that had already set in, like red nail polish or my daughter's teenage daughter's blue hair dye drips. I sincerely doubt that level of carpet abuse can be fixed. It's crucial to move the machine slowly while it fills to avoid the dirty water sloshing out of the front exhaust vent. Cat hair clusters are occasionally spit out by the Turboclean Powerbrush Pet, but they are simple to remove by hand. The compact collection tank is easy to remove and empty after use. The tank must be completely cleared of debris, which takes some time. The detailed instructions make it crystal clear how to operate and maintain the machine.The Bissell Turboclean did an excellent job of restoring my rug to a respectable condition. I'm a handyman and house painter. In general, I try to avoid removing wallpaper, but occasionally I find myself in a circumstance when it is necessary. Recently, one of these circumstances arose, so I did as I always do and went out and rented an Earlex Wallpaper steamer. The task kind of grew larger than we had anticipated (ugh, after removing wallpaper, we discovered MORE wallpaper underneath it! so one of my helpers came to the jobsite with his McCulloch MC1275 to lend a hand.Wow, what a difference.The McCulloch is not constant-on, unlike the Earlex, and has a smaller water tank. Additionally, compared to the Earlex's 45 minutes, it heats up to ready in only 8 minutes. In comparison to the Earlex, the steam also emits at a louder loudness. The McCulloch is superior almost everywhere that is measured.I am aware that you are probably wondering why I would submit a wallpaper steamer review for a product that isn't actually a wallpaper steamer.Now for the real surprise. I primed a McCulloch MC1275 over the weekend and returned the Earlex Piece of Crap Steamer (TM) to HD. The wallpaper started to fall like rain on Monday when we had TWO of these bad boys operating! When the task was finished, I cleaned up this little beauty and brought it home to my wife, who immediately began steam cleaning everything in sight for the remainder of the evening.She literally danced when she read the user guide and realized what she could sanitize with it.All of our home's polished concrete floors are cleaned and wonderfully polished by this beast. Since the hose is already directing water into the drain, I simply let clean water flow through the hose for approximately a minute, rinsing off all traces of the object you just cleaned. Issue is resolved.To put my Little Green on a physical pedestal and show off how amazing it is while lording it over the other cleaning tools, I added a special shelf to my laundry room.
