I just put these in last weekend and so far I'm really happy with them. I also changed the bushings on the stabilizer, often known as the sway bar. The usual elastomeric bushings are much improved by the thermoplastic bushings. These are comparable to polyurethane bushings, with the exception that they are said to not require any lubricant to prevent squeaking. I sprayed a small amount of high temperature silicone oil, which helps with assembly even if it isn't necessary to prevent squeaking, because I didn't want to take the danger of having them squeak. The bolts could use some lengthening, that's the only thing I have to comment about. Since they are about a quarter inch shorter than the OEM end link bolts, it was necessary to almost completely loosen the stabilizer bushings before beginning to thread the nuts on. Everything went smoothly once they got going. The bolts were tightened up until around seven threads were visible. They shouldn't back off because the nuts are oval-type lock nuts. Although the preload felt adequate and the bushings were fully seated when I started everything, I definitely could have tightened them more. If I discover that they need to be adjusted in the future, I'll update this.


These were installed on my single-cab, 2.3L, 2004 Ford Ranger with a 112" WB. I was essentially only operating with the passenger side sway bar link intact because one of the older ones had cracked and the bolt head had sheared off. The older ones were difficult to remove, but with a little persistence they came off in bits. It is simpler to break the bottom nut off because the rust and deterioration will prevent it from screwing off. These new ones continued and lasted only ten minutes each. No more popping or rattling sounds as I turn at an angle. Due to their wear, I am also replacing both lower ball joints.
