In order to reduce voltage loss and provide redundancy in the event that one cable connection failed, I decided to run two separate 12 ga. cables back from the front junction box to each axle since the OEM cabling needed to be replaced. This was done in order to replace the entire brake system on our 2013 travel trailer after a complete mechanical and electrical failure during our last outing. I chose this cable since it was readily available in a reasonable length, offered in a range of wire gauges, and was reasonably priced. The cable's packaging and "handling" during the fitting and installation process generally left me impressed once I finished the work. The only reason I gave it 4 instead of 5 stars is because the individual copper strands that make up each wire's conductor appear to be thicker than what might be ideal (each wire in the cable is a little more rigid than I'd anticipated), despite the fact that it needs to be able to constantly flex where it is routed from the trailer frame to the axle when the trailer is being towed. As an electrical engineer with decades of experience in system installations, I did make sure that each cable was in a wire loom and had a stress-free "curl" in this area so it could follow each axle as it moved up and down without even a hint of binding or tightening, but I do believe that this cable would be better suited for its stated application if it was more flexible.

The only issue with these wires, as has been observed, is that they are a little bit smaller than claimed. I purchased a size larger after reading those comments in order to get the desired wire gauge. The insulation is thick, which I suppose is a positive thing, but it makes the wire overall heavier than it should be. This is the only drawback.

Two sets of wire-strippers concurred that this isn't exactly 10 awg despite the fact that I didn't take the effort to measure it and sincerely admit that I am unaware of the dimensions for 10 gauge wire. On both my older and newer strippers, I had to use the 12 ga slot, and I didn't shear much copper as you may anticipate for a 10 ga in a 12 ga slot. However, after looking at other cables, it appears that this is the norm.Despite being good and thick, the sheathing is still soft and pliable; let's hope that it stays that way. With electrifying effects, the cable was used to power/ground the Sound Ordnance B-8PTD powered subwoofer (125w).
