Drainage happens quickly. 20 seconds or so, a half-quart of oil.Later revision: I believe the seam is not very tight. Without a seam, I cut the cone and folded it into another cone. Oil came out lighter and filtered more slowly.

To replace the filter that came with my DuPont WFFM350XCH Electric Metered 200-Gallon Deluxe Faucet Mount Premium Water Filtration Unit, I purchased these filters. The supplied filter failed after 200 gallons. A cup, a pet's water dish, etc. took a long time to fill up after about 60 gallons because the stream of water was so weak. In order to fight off bacteria, insects, etc., more chlorine is added to the water in NYC during the warmer months, according to another reviewer. Because of Ebola and other infections going around, I think they are using more chlorine. If this were the case, it would explain why these filters would degrade more rapidly. If your tap water is experiencing a similar issue, check your neighborhood. In light of this, I do not advise purchasing the 200 gallon filters. Instead, use these 100-gallon filters. Remember that I spent about $23.60 on 3 filters! I would be spending a lot more if I kept purchasing gallon bottles of spring water from the store for $.99 or even $.89! I typically go around 50 gallons before I need to change the filter for a new one. Feel free to calculate the results on your own. This is a preferable choice.Remember that depending on where you live, you may not be able to exceed 100 gallons with your filter. Imagine all the contaminants your filter accumulated prior to becoming clogged and needing to be replaced if you need to change your filter before then. Something to consider.

I misplaced my first Sawyer filter, so I'm using a new one. It's very effective, but you have to set it up properly. Also keep in mind that this is a filter, not a purifier. A good setup calls for good pressure. I have occasionally utilized this with the provided tubing, which is less than two feet.
