This is a very acceptable traveling practice. What I enjoy about it is how quiet and little it makes my trumpet. It is really portable and compact. I can actually practice while watching TV or in the middle of the night without waking my wife because it is sufficiently quiet. With this mute in, there is a little intonation change. However, everything appears to be fine in terms of relative pitch. When using it, it doesn't feel so constricting. Since I am essentially exhaling when playing this silence, I can play it without feeling the need to overblow. I advise using it for what it is. a small, quiet practice mute. I bought it so I could bring it on a trip I'm doing in a few weeks. It will be ideal for this application, and I won't bother anyone by using it in a hotel room.

In terms of practice mutes, it's among the best available. Big air makes the high register feel a little stuffy. I'm not going to give it five stars because the practice mute, as a whole, needs some work. They are a compromise by nature. We'd prefer not to need one, but if you need, why not acquire one that fits in the bell or somewhere else in a gig bag so it's always handy when you only want to blast a few notes and get things warmed up as a matter of staying in shape? This mute is evidence that practice mutes don't necessarily have to be particularly big to be practical and effective.

I simultaneously purchased a trumpet from Amazon and a used trumpet. I had wanted to experiment, and I wanted my young child to be able to work with me. He literally took my breath away. He required something so that he wouldn't be able to sneak up on us and play the two or three notes he knew how to play while giving us tinnitus. This made that easier. He won't be able to hear anyone else because of his excessive tooting.As he plays, I've noticed that it trembles a little and the cork becomes somewhat moister and warmer. That goes away if I tighten the screw a little bit. A star for it, perhaps, but overall a fantastic purchase!
