Compared to the typical shoddy vests that tour firms supply, this is a better product. I currently have 2 orders. Because of the turbulent water, I wasn't snorkeling while I was in Bermuda while wearing it, but when a massive wave smashed over me, the vest propelled me to the top and into the proper position. We were thrilled to have them on our trip to the Cayman Islands because we did a lot of snorkeling off the coast on our own. Makes it simple to see everyone (being ran over by a boat is no fun) and may even save your life if you're tired and far from land. Everyone was curious about where to buy them. I received offers to purchase mine. That the dive shops didn't sell them there surprises me. Only one other individual with one could be seen, and hers was pink. I've just started snorkeling in Lake Superior. The water can become frigid and rough for me in a matter of seconds. I've been experimenting with snorkeling for the past two seasons and have come to the conclusion that I no longer need to bring a life jacket with me when I require extra support. I've now swum in it twice, and because it steadies me so well, I feel so much more confidence in my abilities. This jacket is very nicely made, but it is not a life jacket (soft velcro, flat seams). I think it's crucial that everyone understands that this isn't a life-saving tool. I take pleasure in my water safety, but again, this has given me a lot more self-assurance.I keep it minimally inflated the entire time, which keeps me steady in the waves and allows for a pretty smooth pop-up. Additionally, I feel more at ease "bobbing" in the water while only kicking my flippers, and my head is able to briefly rise above the surface. Additionally, I have messed around when trying to reinflate this in the waves. It's a little complicated, so practice where you feel comfortable before going too far because the water pressure releases air when you open the valve. But now that I've got my time down, I can easily add more air.I usually wear a 38D and am 5'4" and 170 pounds. I got a Medium, and it fits quite well with lots of room to let out or take in. I forget I'm wearing it in the water because of how stylish it looks over my NRS hydroskin 1.5MM jacket.For two reasons, I gave this a 4 instead of a 5. 1) My balloon doesn't look like the picture when it inflates. There is only one flat cell that expands; there are no ridges. I still believe that the air holds securely and spreads evenly. 2) I wish it was painted a bright color. Although this vest is 100% more appealing than any other snorkeling "vest" on the market, I prefer the color black because I want to stand out in case I ever need assistance. These were purchased for a trip to snorkel in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. They deflate and fit perfectly in our carry-on bags. Every other day, I swim in the lake. I have a propensity to turn right. I must thus look to determine my direction. It's incredibly challenging to look up and see where I'm going while crawling. But now that I'm wearing this vest, I can look up while I'm swimming and change my course without having to go to the breast stroke. I weigh 250 lbs and am 6 feet 8 inches tall. Even after being worn, the straps still have excess length. Given that it only cost $12 and I want to use it every other day, don't expect it to last forever. However, it was a low-cost test to determine if I respond to this kind of product. I have free movement of my arms. It maintains its position well when swimming. It does tend to ride up when standing vertically, as other reviews have noted, but I didn't find it too bothersome. seems more cozy than I anticipated. Although I anticipated it would be painful, I didn't notice it while swimming (horizontal). Overall, it surpasses my expectations in terms of comfort, freedom to swim, and the ability to glance up and see where I'm going. The vest functions. Is it super or fanciful? No. But I rarely snorkel, and when I do, it's almost usually from a beach. On the water, I don't get along very well with boats. Therefore, I occasionally have to swim a distance to find a reef. When it's time to dive deeper, I can easily deflate the vest, which keeps me afloat. Excellent product; we repeatedly inflated and deflated it while snorkelling. The air tip is a little tricky to use because you have to push in with your teeth to inflate it, which hurts because the spring is sort of stiff and requires some pressure to compress. There isn't enough room to get a good seal with lips at the same time since the tip is too small to be used with finger tips. We never needed to inflate completely; only enough to keep us afloat.
